[Bug 108623] Re: totem isn't buffering correctly
The upstream bug was marked won't fix because it was reported against a backend which has been removed. The last comment also indicates that a new bug should be filed with new gstreamer backend. I have tried searching through the gstreamer bugs: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=specificorder=relevance+descbug_status=__open__product=GStreamercontent=increase+streaming+buffer and I see a lot of buffer related bugs that may or may not be related. What also isn't clear is whether this particular bug should be reported against gstreamer or not since it's unclear whether the problem is within gstreamer or in totem's usage there of. It would be great if someone with more knowledge of the related components could either nail this down or tell us users how we can help nail it down. It should be fairly easy to test this by using low bandwidth connections (or saturating bandwidth with other downloads). -- totem isn't buffering correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in alacarte. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. [Bug 603970] [NEW] Workspace Switcher hover help/tool tip doesn't go away
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets In a fully updated (as of 07/10/10) Lucid Lynx, occasionally the Workspace Switcher tool tip help will come up and stay up until I hover the mouse over the Workspace Switcher again. This seems to happen when I inadvertently slide over the WS when moving the mouse somewhere else on the screen. [Bug 563862] Re: When logging on power manager fails
I agree with owen, above. When the login screen appears, the boot sequence may still be going on in the background. The end of the boot sequence is signalled audibly with the drum sound (provided, of course that you have sounds on), so the system knows perfectly well when it is done booting. Perhaps the Login button on the login screen should simply be kept disabled until the boot sequence is completed? There's no harm in letting the user type in the username and password while the boot process is still running (I do that all the time); it's just that the user should not hit the Login button until the computer is fully booted up (I have gotten into the habit of waiting until I hear the drum sound, and only then hitting Login; I haven't had any problems since). -- When logging on power manager fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 603979] [NEW] Crashing while transfering to iPhone 3g
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox This seems very similar to bug 544880 except that I'm not getting the same error message. All I get are blank error messages (one for each failed transfer I believe) and then the computer is frozen completely. Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect an iphone with empty music library by USB 2. Open Rhythmbox 3. Attempt to transfer a large number of files to the phone by drag and drop (in my case a little over 1200). 4a. Wait for Rhythmbox to crash, watch an explosion of blank error messages and find computer completely inoperable... 4b. On occasion the computer remains operable but Rhythmbox becomes a zombie and cannot be killed (except by killing the main instance of 'init'). Using metacity rather than compiz reduces but does not eliminate the possibility of freeze. Further attempts to transfer music will immediately result in another crash and freeze until the library has been deleted from the phone. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apple iphone libimobiledevice rhythmbox sync transfer -- Crashing while transfering to iPhone 3g https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 603996] [NEW] Brasero 2.30.2 won't open .iso file for burning
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero I created .iso (bh_1.iso) in my home dir with same Brasero. now i try to open it later to burn the image but i can't open it, because if i select the .iso file in file selector (after i click on a 'click here to select a disc image') i can see the file, select the file but when i select 'open' it just enters a random dir visible in the selector and won't open the iso file. if i could just type in the name of the iso (instead of the 'click here to select a disc image') then i could bypass this problem, but i can't. so it's very difficult to burn iso because when i double-click on iso it opens another program (File Roller 2.30.1.1). Re: [Bug 22199] Re: Firefox steals Alt-Tab whilst in URL completion drop-down
I'm not convinced this is actually a real bug. This is how all menu's work (including GTK menus), and you will find that every drop-down menu on the system works in this way. Menu's always grab the keyboard and pointer so that they are able to know if you've navigated outside of the menu, and close the menu automatically when you do so. Menus indeed work that way, but autocomplete list is not a menu. Unlike a menu, it doesn't have focus and isn't explicitly called upon by user. It should be unobtrusive. In fact, I've almost agreed with you after testing some applications' menus, but... 1. Firefox's form entry autocomplete entries close on Alt-Tab. A second press is needed to actually switch, but it's still better. 2. Epiphany's address bar autocomplete behaves the same. While I would certainly prefer Alt-Tab work even in the menus, Firefox's behavior is still inconsistent. P.S. Chromium's autocomplete - both in the address bar and in forms - is ideal, letting Alt-Tab through the first time. -- Firefox steals Alt-Tab whilst in URL completion drop-down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/22199 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I can confirm this issue and am marking this bug as Triaged after reporting it upstream or linking it to a previously reported bug. However, I'm declining this as a paper cut since this is not a usability issue with an often used part of Ubuntu, but instead a small string fix affecting only the English speakers, not all users. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: New = Invalid -- Checkbox label doesn't make sense https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/604027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 604060] [NEW] Drug-and-drop Panel launchers are not monitored
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel To reproduce: 1. Create application launcher on desktop 2. Drug-and-drop to the panel 3. REMOVE launcher from the desktop The launcher on gnome-panel will stay alive (IT WORKS?!) until user logout. [Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
I think we should stop adding a comment each time this issue starts / stop occuring : the problem with this particular issue is indeed that no-one seems to have figured out how to reproduce it reliably. It happens, then stops for a few days / weeks then happens again. What is obvious is that the scope of this bug is very wide, does affect most people one day, and is extremely annoying for joe users that won't have the idea to do a killall gnome-panel or shutdown -h etc. What we urgently need is to establish a reliable protocol to pinpoint this issue, as soon as possible... This is most concerning something that seems to be very superficial isn't fixed several months about the LTS release. Confirm the bug on Ubuntu 10.04 with Yelp 2.30.0 using Gnumeric 1.10.1-1ubuntu1. [Bug 589461] Re: Does not detect hotplugged USB storage device with USB wireless
Update: I've discovered a workaround that allows the use of the USB wireless and the USB flash drive. 1) While laptop is off, unplug all usb connected devices. 2) Turn on laptop and log in. 3) Plug in any or all usb devices, they should both be recognized (I only have two connection ports). So, my new routine is to shut down the laptop and unplug the wireless usb. That way I don't forget to unplug it before I start-up. Then, after I have booted and logged in, plug in the wireless which will automatically connect (it doesn't take long at all). If I decide I need to use my flash drive (or attach my camera or mp3 player), no problem. We are now using Lucid full time. If I can change the status to close this bug, I will. Hi hirumono, Don't worry, your information may be tedious but that kind of detail is very helpful in differentiating bugs. :) I still think you have a different issue: the upstream report shows that affected users' CD drives have an invalid value for the can_eject property, so gvfs will never unmount the drive.
