See this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6512055postcount=6 I think ive found a solution in gconf-editor: apps nautilus icon-view, then check default_use_tighter_layout. this solves the horizontal overlap. the vertical overlap problem still remains since the align grid gets smaller, but using Clean up name helps. [Bug 563555] Re: no mouse cursor
I observed this behavior after installing Ubuntu 10.04 to a new hard drive. The cursor was working properly initially, but disappeared when I changed the screen resolution. After that, it behaved as noted above -- locate cursor worked, mouse buttons worked, ctrl-alt-F1 then ctrl- alt-F7 restored cursor, etc. The installation of Ubuntu 10.04 on my old disk did not have this behavior. I checked that old file system, and there was an xorg.conf file there. The new system did not have xorg.conf. When I copied the old system's xorg.conf into the new system, the cursor returned with no problems, even after changing resolutions or rebooting. Unfortunately, the old xorg.conf only uses the generic VESA driver. I may have had to use that driver because of problems when I first set up Ubuntu; it's too long ago to remember. The new xorg.conf generated as described in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto uses the Intel driver for my system (Intel 82845G/GL/GE). With that xorg.conf, the mouse cursor disappears. -- no mouse cursor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563555 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 615803] Re: Computer freeze when removing power cable
This is what I have done. Some steps might seem strange but is explained by me not having an internet connection on the laptop when these tests are conducted (I will get the internet access back again) First test: 1. A clean installation from the CD (I had massive problem with my fn-button freeze and after one hard reboot, I could not log in without a freeze, no matter what I did. I had to re-install Ubuntu 9.10 and then install Ubuntu 10.04 again before it worked (just re-installing Ubuntu 10.04 did not worked - even if I formatted the disk)) 2. Boot 3. Unplugg the power cable 4. The laptop freezes 5. Hard reboot 6. Save log file as kern_mint.log Second test: 1. Remove the pm-ubilt-powersave-policy package (sudo apt-get remove pm-utils-powersave-policy) 2. Unplugg the power cable 3. The laptop freezes 4. Hard reboot 5. Save log file as kern_nopmutils.log 6. Re-install Ubuntu 10.04 from the CD (This is to get the pm-utils- powersave-policies package back). I formatted the / partition but not the /home partition (I have three partitions on my disk /, /home and swap) Third test: 1. Boot 2. Rename file (sudo mv /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/95hdparm-apm /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/95hdparm-apm.orig) 3. Unplugg the power cable 4. The laptop freezes 5. Hard reboot 6. Save log file kern_renamefile.log 7. Rename back the file (sudo mv /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/95hdparm- apm.orig /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/95hdparm-apm) As you can see, nothing of the suggested things solved the problem. I hope that the logs contain the information you need. Is there any other logs that I can take to help you? Another side note? Why is there no submit field on the Add Comment box? OK. I can confirm that in build 1:2.31.6-0ubuntu3.2 this bug is solved. Thanks! Another Issue which is new with dual screen: Invoking a Nautilus session from a launcher in the start menu or in the launchbar (panel) on Screen1 (the second screen) opens a window in Screen0 (the first screen). That looks definitively like a bug since all other applications are behaving normal (they open in the screen where the menu/panel resides). [Bug 618574] Re: Evolution crashes when I open e mails similar to the one I forwarded
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
