[Bug 644126] [NEW] Totem doesn't offer an Enqueue Location... or similar option.

2010-09-21 Thread Troy R.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Totem doesn't offer an option to queue a stream to play after local
files in the playlist. It only offers an Open Location... option which
clears the playlist entirely, playing only the stream.

I expected to be able to queue an internet radio stream (that plays
normally in Totem when using the Open Location... function) after
files in a playlist.

Instead, I found no option to do so.

One workaround is to run

$ totem --enqueue http://some.domain.tld/stream.m3u

which will enqueue the stream in the running Totem's playlist.

This is upstream already. Sorry, folks.

It would be really nice to see implemented, though, even if it is an

[Bug 644133] [NEW] Rotation with Shotwell is not compatible with EOG

2010-09-21 Thread YannUbuntu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

On Ubuntu 10.10 beta including last updates.

How to reproduce :
- open a picture with EOG
- click on Edit picture button
- in the new window (Shotwell viewer), rotate the picture, then save, then
close Shotwell
- EOG proposes to reload the picture, click on Reload

Result : EOG displays the picture without rotation.

Expected result : EOG should display the picture rotated the same way as
in Shotwell.

(FYI, I remember a discussion saying that there were several kinds of picture
attributes for rotation, so I suppose this bug comes from the fact that EOG and
Shotwell don't use the same way of rotating pictures. There should be a
standard way of rotating pictures to avoid such problems...).

[Bug 644170] [NEW] renaming a file no longer selects just the file name

2010-09-21 Thread steubens
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

in 10.04 renaming a file would just preselect the file name, not the
filename and the extension; it now (10.04) selects the entire thing

it is _much_ more useful to not preselect the extension for filenames
like it used to; almost all of the time that is the intended behavior,
rarely do you change the extension

this is a high profile regression for my common usage of
ubuntu/nautilus, i'm often renaming files.

[Bug 644245] [NEW] gcalctool doesn't allow ~0 operation in hex mode

2010-09-21 Thread janisozaur
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

gcalctool in hex mode features not bit negation, it works pretty well, unless
user would like to perform ~0. This holds true for every bit length (64, 32
and 16). It doesn't also allow to perform ~~ in 16 bit length end
equivalents for other modes.
Executing ~ returns expected 0.
This bug also can be experienced in binary mode. Haven't checked other
available modes.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch gcalctool
2. Switch to programming view (ctrl-p)
3. Select hex mode, 16 bit length
4. Type ~0
5. Execute

Expected result:

Actual result:
Invalid bitwise operation

How do I know what to expect:
They learn that at school

[Bug 641102] [NEW] Desktop is frozen after login on battery (msi u210)

2010-09-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

MSI u210.
Ubuntu 10.10 maverick x86_64 (development branch) with latest updates.

When I boot on battery after login the desktop is frozen. This happens
always on battery and never on AC. Sometimes gnome desktop is shown (but
is not responsive) and sometimes it is not shown. I can move the mouse,
but it does not respond on clicks.. I can switch to another VT.

This is regression in 10.10. In 10.04 there is no such issue.

I can upload any logs. Just let me know which of them you need.

[Bug 305546] Re: Nautilus crashing/freezing when opening folder with svg file

2010-09-21 Thread Ian Lynch
I'm on Karmic because my hardware isn't supported by higher versions -
ATi 4250 which kills booting on later versions. .svg preview kills
nautilus and it really needs fixing. Non-techs here can't understand why
their desktop background suddenly disappears! I have set my Nautilus
preview option to not display files 500k in preview because it seems
to be the bigger Inkscape files that cause problems. Its a work around
but not a satisfactory fix. I'd fix it myself if I knew how! Disable
preview for .svg should not be that hard and it is better to display a
generic icon for one filetype than crash the whole system. Another
workaround if you can use samba is to put the files on a smb share
because then icons are not displayed.

Its not just Tiffs. I have a file with no tiffs in it that does it.
These are .pngs but the version without embedding does it too so I'm not
even convinced that embedding is relevant.

[Bug 641102] Re: Desktop is frozen after login on battery (msi u210)

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

[Bug 558674] Re: Open file dialog malfunctions in lucid

2010-09-21 Thread Alan Moore
I am running a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop, dual boot
with 7HP64, and I have this same problem.

I didn't have this problem yesterday, but I have it today. Have not
rebooted, have not changed anything. But I think I can outline the
steps I took to produce this problem.

2 Chrome windows. One has 1 tab open (where I am submitting the file to
a website using a Browse button). The other has 20 tabs open to
different websites where I am saving pictures to my hard drive. I went
to a tab, saved the picture I needed in
/home/user_name/pictures/folder_name and then repeated this for each
tab. I then went to the other window to submit one of the photos. When
the file dialog window came up, there were 20 pictures to choose from so
I sorted by name. I picked the one I wanted which was 7th down on the
list. I clicked Open and the correct filename appeared next to the
Browse button. After filling in the other form information (business
name, address, etc) I submitted the form. The wrong file was uploaded.
The file that was uploaded was 1st in the list, not 7th.

I tried what other users above have tried and it didn't change anything.
That first file was the one uploaded.

So I tried using Firefox the same way. 20 tabs in one window, one tab
in the other. It did the same thing. Uploaded whatever file had been
saved last into that directory, which in this case was alphabetically
first.

Here's the kicker. The website uses Ubuntu on their server as well with
Apache 2.24 or something like that. So I went to the other end of my
house and got on my wife's Windows computer. I opened the site with the
picture I needed, opened another tab and went to the edit page for the
form I submitted, and tried to change the picture, and it wouldn't
change it. I have since booted into Windows on this computer and tried
and it still won't work. I had to delete the form and start over to get
it to go in right. Very annoying.

So now I'm having to do my work in the mornings in Windows and then I
can boot into Ubuntu for the rest of the day.

I will try to reproduce this bug with smaller numbers of tabs because I
can imagine how irritating it would be to open up 20 tabs just to
reproduce a bug for debugging purposes. This is just my experience from
early this morning.

[Bug 532633] Re: [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment

2010-09-21 Thread Nandan Vaidya
@ Maia and @ Tory , I believe there is a way from the Appearance
preferences dialog to move the buttons to the right, without having to
mess around with gconf or UbuntuTweak for that matter.

Once you are in the Theme tab, choose the Clearlooks theme. This will
move the buttons to the right since Clearlooks is unchaged from the
original Clearlooks theme.

Then goto Customize and select the Ambiance/Radiance controls and the rest of
the settings as you wish.
This way I believe the window buttons continue to stay to the right !

P.S. @ Maia If the above procedure does indeed work, maybe you could
mention it on your blog, where a few people have mentioned the necessity
of using Ubuntu Tweak just for this purpose.
