[Bug 716908] [NEW] quadrapassel crashes with 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'

2011-02-11 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

TEST CASE:
1. Launch quadrapassel
2. Select menu: Settings / Preferences
3. Select Tab 'Themes'
3. Select Tab 'Games'
5. Click on 'Close'

Result:
The application crashes with the following error:
$ quadrapassel

(quadrapassel:13429): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage
window 0x845 the current GLX drawable

(quadrapassel:13429): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage
window 0x846 the current GLX drawable

(quadrapassel:13429): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window
0x847 the current GLX drawable
The program 'quadrapassel' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 149 error_code 9 request_code 137 minor_code 7)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

This is reproducible in both Classic Desktop (no effect) and Unity

up with an error message right at the end telling me the process failed
as the drive was busy.

I use Ubuntu 10.10

Is this a problem with Brasero or my drive and do you have any tips

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi,
When I try to mount my Windows partition in Nautilus I'm asked for the root
password so my user's password doesn't work.
This should be integrated with sudo so that I can mount the partition with my
regular account.

Since I've never set the root password I had to set it to be able to
mount the Windows partition.

I've attached a screenshot.

Re: [Bug 666565] Re: utf8 charmap in locale name is wrong

2011-02-11 Thread Colin Watson
I prefer the canonical names myself (i.e. en_IN rather than
en_IN.UTF-8), but either should be OK.

Parsing /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED is *easier* than parsing the
output of 'locale -a', and I think it's safer than trying to draw
inferences from details of the latter's output.

[Bug 185928] Re: Pressing Space key should toggle play/pause (pause when playing; play when paused)

2011-02-11 Thread markling
I'd second the call for SPACE to activate play/pause in Rhythm Box. A
one-touch play/pause is essential.

Try this: playing your guitar, learning a song. You have to
play/pause. You can't be fiddling around with CTRL+SPACE or whatever
when you are trying to pin down a riff.

Or what happens if the phone rings when you are rocking out? Or you're
eating cornflakes in your best suit?

As for accessibility, having SPACE as play/pause is a darn sight more
accessible than having to fumble all over CTRL+SPACE or whatever.

Also regarding accessibility, if SPACE needs commandeering for
accessibility applications, surely it can so be without stopping SPACE
being used for play/pause when accessibility applications are not
active.

2011-02-11 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Copied from #ubuntu-devel, for the record:

Gunnar Hjalmarsson:
Thanks! Then, how about just replacing .utf8 with .UTF-8 to start with, and
introduce parsing of .../SUPPORTED later on, if the simplistic solution proves
to not suffice?

Colin Watson:
it would likely be an improvement, at least

Gunnar Hjalmarsson:
Ok, then I include .utf8 = .UTF-8 in a couple of MPs, so we get it confirmed
that it's an improvement, to start with.

[Bug 713115] Re: pygobject reference leak fix causes a lot of PyGTK apps to fail

This bug was fixed in the package pygobject - 2.27.90-0ubuntu1

---
pygobject (2.27.90-0ubuntu1) natty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Drop 0001-Revert-Remove-gio-static-bindings.patch,
0002-GI-Run-gio-tests-separately-when-enabled.patch, applied upstream now.
  * Drop revert-refleak.patch, this was replaced with slightly better hack
which brings back the ref leak fix for GI, but emulates the ref count
bug for pygtk which relied on it (this hack only applies for pygobject
2.28.x; later versions will have codegen, and thus pygtk support dropped
entirely). (LP: #713115)

[Bug 703531] Re: Gnome image viewer occationally fails to display image from dektop

2011-02-11 Thread Felix Riemann
The lsof output in #3 suggests that you have the Date in statusbar plugin
enabled.
This plugin has a known race condition which could prevent the program window
from being shown on start.

To check you can try if it is still reproducible with the plugin
disabled.

Alternatively, the problem was worked around in eog-2.32.1.

The corresponding GNOME bug would be #622161.

Re: [Bug 690455] Re: Screen saver not working.

2011-02-11 Thread aur...@roadrunner.com
Marc,
The issue is when I let the computer go to the screensaver. It does not load
the screensaver. The screen goes blank and when I move the mouse to get back to
my work it forces my to log into the computer again. It is almost like it logs
the user off when it goes to screensaver. This in an issue that should be
resolved.

like a good idea, it actually doesn't help security in a significant
way. To understand why it is important to note that by default your
keyring is unlocked upon login to your session. This way programs like
network manager and evolution can access the keyring when they need to.
If someone has access to your system when your screen is unlocked, that
person can do anything with your account, including running a program to
dump the contents of your unlocked keyring. Adding a password protection
to the keyring does not add any real benefit, only inconvenience. If you
want to make sure someone else doesn't have access to your system, make
sure you lock your screen.

For a much more detailed discussion of the gnome keyring, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/FAQ#gnome-keyring.

[Bug 717464] [NEW] Evolution Preferences Window Is Too High For Screen and Cannot Be Re-sized

2011-02-11 Thread PC
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution Preferences Window Is Too High For Screen and Cannot Be Re-sized.
The screen size was 1366x768.

As the bottom of the preferences screen was not visible, and the window
had no scroll bars, it was not possible to get to items at the bottom of
the screen. I could not seem to re-size the preferences windows, or move
the preferences window off the top of the screen to get at the hidden
part at the bottom.

I would expect the preference window to fit the screen, be re-sizable,
or have scroll bars.

I will attach a screenshot of this.

[Bug 717470] [NEW] gcalctool can't handle commas when converting between bases

2011-02-11 Thread Mark Jackson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

(1) Enable Show thousands separators
(2) Select Programming mode
(3) Select Decimal
(4) Enter 1024
(5) Change the base to Hexadecimal
(6) Incorrect result ... we get 1024 interspersed with subscript 10s

If you now disable Show thousands separators and repeat, we get the
correct value displayed.

I think the commas must be confusing the string parser.

[Bug 717471] [NEW] brasero segfault in libgobject-2.0.so.0.2600.0 when opening an iso disk from nautilus browser

2011-02-11 Thread draco
Public bug reported:

When I double click on an ISO disk image from nautilus browser in order
to burn it, I don't get the brasero dialog box 1 time over 2 (exactly).
I've got a waiting cursor over the nautilus window for a while, and
then nothing happen.

dmesg complain about segfault from brasero due to libgobject-2.0.so ;
see here :

I don't have the problem when running brasero directly and selecting
burn image.

I'm unable to produce more trace since I can't handle the nautilus thread in
gdb, Valgrind or strace.
If someone can tell how to do, I will try to send more backtrace.

[Bug 714015] Re: blank screen saver buttons do NOT work in ati 9600

2011-02-11 Thread wpshooter
# What desktop environment does this problem occur in? (GNOME, XFCE,
KDE, etc.)

GNOME.

# Do you use visual effects? (System/Preferences/Appearance/Visual Effects)

Visual effects is set on NONE.

# Does the problem still occur if you disable visual effects?

YES.

# Does the problem still occur if you use the blank screen screensaver?

I am not using any screensaver. Screensaver button is unchecked. There
in lays the problem, unchecking the box does NOT keep the screensaver
from becoming active after a period of inactivity.

# Is the Lock screen when screensaver is active setting checked in
System/Preferences/Screensaver?

NO.

# Is this a laptop or a desktop machine?

Desktop.

# How many monitors do you use?

One, LCD 19inch Samsung.

# If it is a laptop, do you use an external screen?

Not laptop.

# Do you have the hamster-applet application installed? This applications has
been known to cause screen locking issues.

No, not unless it was installed during Ubuntu O/S installation.

When I attempt to run the command that was referred to about gathering
some type of info, the answer that I get is COMMAND NOT FOUND.

Thanks.
