[Bug 707007] Re: Monitor Preferences dialog buttons lacks conformity with rest of OS

2011-07-14 Thread Brendan Donegan
In the current development release of Ubuntu, Oneiric Ocelot, there is
only an Apply button, no close - as the capplet is part of the gnome-
control-center application rather than being stand-alone.

[Bug 576133] Re: Problem creating a user with encrypted home directory and automatic logon.

2011-07-14 Thread Brendan Donegan
Because of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-
center/+bug/798962 it is impossible to check if this is still as big a
problem in Oneiric as it was before. Once that is fixed this bug can be
investigated further.

[Bug 797549] Re: can't change alt-tab behaviour

2011-07-14 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
I tried this in Natty, but it seems to confirm this problem. Actually I
think that the problem is that Move between windows immediately does
nothing, independently on which is the key bound.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open System Settings
2) Check Keyboard Shortcuts
3) Check here that in Windows management Move between windows inmmediately is
bound to Alt-Escape
4) Open 3 or 4 windows
5) Try Alt-Escape

What should happen? You should move across those windows
What actually happens? Nothing, Alt-ESCAPE does nothing.

Quite difficult. As soon as I move the mouse it may hover a window. This
leads to a redraw of all windows, removing the artifacts from windows
moved to the other screen. ;-) I'll try further. Maybe I'll get it some

Impossible! As soon as the screenshot window opens the whole screen is
redrawn --- all artifacts are removed this way! If there is a way to

I must have around 10 breaks I have 1 or null breaks.
And this problem may disappears and appears on my PC.

[Bug 692893] Re: keyboard preferences won't persist restart

2011-07-14 Thread Chalk
Same problem in gnatty. I don't use gnome, but use a small WM and I use
gnome-settings-daemon every time I start up for gtk-theming. The problem
is, that this resets the keyboard layout to whatever gnome thinks is
right, and no matter how many times I tell it to delete the USA keyboard
layout for my user and only use dvorak, it doesn't stick and I have to
change it manually on restart. Very unhelpful keyboard layout program in
my mind.

[Bug 810498] [NEW] CPU Resource Monitor ignores CPUs when 1 CPU is hotplugged

2011-07-14 Thread r4d2
Public bug reported:

When Hotplugging a CPU Core (disableing it, see below), the CPU Resource
Monitor shows all CPUs with a ID equal or greater than the ID of the
hotplugged CPU with 0.0%, even though that is not the case.

In my case:
Im running a AMD X4 System with 4 Cores.
I disable core 2 via 'echo 0 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online'
(Hotplugging via the Method described here
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/debian-rhel-centos-redhat-suse-hotplug-cpu/)
At the same time Im running a Thread that puts core 3 at full load.
After disabling, the CPU Resource Monitor shows core 2 and core 3 at 0.0% even
though core 3 is still running at close to 100%.
After restarting the System Monitor it only shows cores 0 and 1. Core 3 is not
shown, even though it is still enabled and still shows up in /proc/cpuinfo

[Bug 810496] [NEW] windows open at top of screen, with only 1/2 of vertical resolution, can't maximize to full screen

2011-07-14 Thread Brian Hess
Public bug reported:

chrome, firefox browsers, wireshark, terminal, all show the same effect.
this happened once before on bootup, restarting cleared the effect and
was able to open apps normally to full screen. Note this only affects
the primary laptop screen, if I move the open app to the second screen,
the app opens normally to full screen. Also note, the full desktop is
visible on both monitors.

[Bug 692893] Re: keyboard preferences won't persist restart

2011-07-14 Thread Chalk
actually, this is not just a gdm bug, this is also a gnome-settings-
daemon or gnome-applets bug because that's where the keyboard setting
application is, on a per-user and per-system basis. For me, whether I
try to apply the changes per-user or per-system, same result: USA stays
default, and is undeletable. :p

[Bug 628293] Re: gnome-default-applications-properties does not set needs_term for mailer presets

2011-07-14 Thread Rodrigo Moya
We don't have the custom part anymore, so this is obsolete for oneiric.
For maverick and/or natty, not sure this is SRU material, but if so, the
patch seems to not be 100% correct. We already have a GConfPEditor for
the needs-term key, so the patch should make that code set / get the
setting correctly. If it's SRU-able, please open a task for any distro
that might need the fix, closing this bug for oneiric now

[Bug 685238] Re: Playing correct mp3 from samba share (cifs) generates chopped sound

2011-07-14 Thread Marcos Gutiérrez Batz
Hi Pedro,

Thanks for replaying. I forgot about this problem... sorry. I noticed
the problem was also with other players, so I tried changing values on
the system audio settings. At the end I hit a solution: I had to define
my audio output as a 4.1 output for it to work...

So it has nothing to do with rhythmbox.

The bug can be closed.

Best regards
Marcos

It could very well be. This is my first attempt at reporting a bug and
I'm not real familiar with the process yet. I do know that my machine

[Bug 769314] Re: System bell broken in Natty/Unity (despite heroic...)

2011-07-14 Thread Thomas Hood
Yes, there is an Alert volume slider with Mute button. I didn't
realize that you were referring to this when you said system bell ---
I didn't know that they were the same thing. My apologies. It's true
that this slider has no effect on the volume of the sound that gets
played when the workaround (pactl upload-sample... and xset b 100)
is applied.

Regarding the workaround, I have since discovered that pactl upload-
sample /usr/share/sounds/gnome/default/alerts/glass.ogg bell.ogg has to
go in ~/.xprofile and xset b 100 has to go in ~/.bashrc.

[Bug 692893] Re: keyboard preferences won't persist restart

2011-07-14 Thread Chalk
summary
expected behavior: if a user changes default keyboard layout in
gnome-keyboard-properties when gnome-settings-daemon is running. With normal
shutdown or restart, GDM's default keyboard layout for that user should be
equal to the new setting.

Current behavior: default keyboard layout on GDM screen is set to last
keyboard layout that was manually set at GDM screen by user, and that
keyboard layout becomes the layout in use in session.

[Bug 810516] [NEW] Evolution shows no emails on gmail inbox

2011-07-14 Thread tucemiux
Public bug reported:

I have more than one gmail account on evolution configured as IMAP. I
am seeing various bugs on my main gmail account. The first but is that
there is no mail on my inbox folder. Instead, what I see on the right
pane is a message saying:

No message satisfies your search criteria. Either search with Search
-Clear menu item or change it.

In the Search box I have tried everything, it's currently blank but
yet still no messages on the INBOX folder. My other accounts do have
mail when I click on the INBOX folder. In order for me to see my gmail
I have to click on GMAIL--all mail

Group by threads is quite buggy. I get new e-mail and the e-mail is
seen as new but I can't find it! I tried unclicking Group by threads
but I still dont see the e-mail. I have to use the web interface to see
the new email.

[Bug 810549] [NEW] Battery indicator turns red when charged second battery is inserted

2011-07-14 Thread zwigno
Public bug reported:

This is on a Lenovo T410s, Natty, 64-bit. I have the second battery
goes in the cd-rom drive slot. If the laptop is plugged in, and both
batteries are charged, the battery indicator will turn red with the
empty battery icon. Clicking on the icon will show 3 batteries waiting
to charge. However, when I click on the waiting to charge text the
Power Statistics menu shows everything correctly.

Additionally, the time remaining only shows the time remaining of the
current battery, not the total of both.

If I only have one battery in everything seems to detect correctly.

I'll attach screenshots. Thank you.
