Still get crash when shuting the system down everytime but nothing is
logged sadly.

Searching about error 4 in libgtk-3.so let me know that its a general issue
over distro, like:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multipleid=708618 (post #20
propose a solution but not a fix for everyone)

I've tested on my system (Oneiric i386 without compiz/unity but with
gnome-shell), so its happen even if compiz is removed/purged.

an other:

If i run : sudo ldconfig, i dont get warning but without sudo:

[Bug 808138] Re: brasero fails to copy a data dvd, or audio cd.

2011-08-09 Thread Chih-Hsyuan Ho
@Pedro, per your advice, a brasero-debug file is attached when brasero
was failing to burn a data CD-R. Additionally, an error message actually
popped up at the end of the burning session, the application then
prompted for saving a brasero-session.log file. Both the log file and a
screen shot when the error was happening are also attached for your
reference.

[Bug 823191] [NEW] Empathy automatically resurrects itself when computer is locked?

2011-08-09 Thread Fili
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

I have some strange issues with Empathy. When I quit work I leave my
computer on for reasons not relevant to this bug-report. Before leaving
I manually close Empathy completely and lock gnome. When I get back the
following morning Empathy somehow has resurrected itself and all kinds
of chat windows are openend from people who think i'm online (and then
think i'm actively ignoring them). If i kill Empathy it should stay dead
until i manually start it myself.

This bug might be similar to;

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/560575

I'm running;

[Bug 703302] Re: Toshiba Laptop battery not being detected

2011-08-09 Thread pascalc
Tuxsage instructions on how to create patch a custom kernel work for me
as well with a Satellite L-735-116, thanks Tuxsage and George!

Patching the kernel is not really feature proof for people like myself
who are Linux users and not linux hackers :)

What are the next step to get this fix included in Ubuntu or upstream in
the Linux kernel? Are there people working on hardware support in the
Ubuntu team and the Linux team following this bug report and taking
action? If not, how can they be contacted so as to make sure this is
fixed in the next Oneiric release?

When adding a meeting in evolution, there is a dropdown menu to select

[Bug 823132] [NEW] Autologin requires more password confirmation than normal logging

2011-08-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

If I choose autologin I want the computer to load without any questions and I
willingly compromise my security on that machine. In Ubuntu though after
autologin I have to write the password TWICE (once for Ubuntu One, the second
one probably for Update Manager) instead of once when logging normally.
Posibble solution: make an indicator for Unity that shows that entering
password is required for unblocking Ubuntu One and Update Manager and don't
block everything until I write them.

[Bug 823021] Re: libre.fm/nowplaying url is contacted and sent the current song being played without my consent

2011-08-09 Thread Michael Sheldon
You can optionally select to not send listening statistics at all (but
still listen to Libre.fm) by deselecting the Submit listening data
option on the Libre.fm tab. However this will also stop it from sending
data about the tracks from Libre.fm you've listened to as well.

Sending all listening data is pretty common for most audio scrobblers,
however you might want to raise this upstream and suggest that the
wording be clarified so that it's more obvious to people who aren't
familiar with other scrobbling services.

[Bug 823343] [NEW] evolution lacks documented debug feature

2011-08-09 Thread Matthias Andree
Public bug reported:

http://library.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/b1a4ol61.html.en
documents:

Debug Logs

Evolution 2.30 User Guide
Advanced Configuration

Evolution allows you to view the error logs and set the display duration
for the error messages that appear in the statusbar. When an error
occurs, statusbar displays the error message for the specified time,
then it is moved to the debug file.

From the Help menu, select Debug Logs.
Specify for how long error messages will be displayed in the statusbar.

None of this is true. There is no DEbug option in the help menu, and
SMTP errors (for instance) are not displayed, neither via pop-up, nor
via status line.

[Bug 820333] Re: Regional Formats

2011-08-09 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your effort to improve Ubuntu by reporting this observation.
Language and regional formats are separate things, though, and in Natty
the LANG variable represents the regional formats settings only. The
described change in behavior is intentional and not a bug. Please click
the Help button from the Language Support window for further info on
how it's intended to work.

Is this sufficient as a clarification?

[Bug 823347] [NEW] Outbox mail stuck with SMTP errors not displayed

2011-08-09 Thread Matthias Andree
Public bug reported:

Assume I have an email with four recipients, one of them invalid.

Evolution is configured to use SMTP to send email. Authentication is not
required (LAN IP is sufficient on the SMTP server).

Now, during the SMTP dialog (as evidenced from Postfix logs), one of the
recipients gets rejected with a 550 code, the other 3 get accepted with
a 250 code.

BUG: Evolution
- DOES NOT display a pop-up requested displaying the faulty address
- DOES NOT display a hint in the status line displaying the faulty address
- DOES SILENTLY LEAVE the message in the outbox, clogging the entire outbox.

Expected behaviour:
- Evolution should display the server transcript, in particular, the rejected
e-mail address, so that the user has a hint as to the problem, and can do
something about it.

2011-08-09 Thread cement_head
Hello,

I can confirm that this is still an issue in Maverick. However, I have
been able to get Brasero to work burning an Audio CD (both stand alone
and from Rhythmbox (which is better for novice users).

Here's how I fixed the issue on my system:

Install the following via Synaptic:

brasero-cdrkit (2.32.0-0ubuntu2.2)
cuetools (1.3.1-9)
flac (1.2.1-3)
mp3info (0.8.5a-1)
python-brasero (2.30.0-1ubuntu5.1)
icedax (9:1.1.10-1ubuntu3)

Restart Rhythmbox

Choose Playlist

Burn CD

Brasero spawned burned the disc.

[Bug 823432] [NEW] multiple system breaks: GUI failure, boot failure, sloppy workaround

2011-08-09 Thread Anadon
Public bug reported:

Just updated using synaptic since updater was broken. Rebooted, and
first it booted to my desktop background and a desktop. No unity(not
even window borders) and minimal funcionality. I was able to get to the
systems settings menu through right clicking, kinda started unity and in
my attempts to stabilize it and close the terminal I started it in, it
closed and I was unable to get it working again. Rebooted. X11 didn't
start, to system hang after successful check battery state. Went into
the recovery menu, got into root terminal, started x startx, then
still had troubles getting around (acted like a program/nautilus), but
got to another terminal and started to submit this. I was then able to
use that terminal to start unity as account root. I have no idea
where the bug is, or what it could be, but I am willing to give whatever
info necessary.

[Bug 823456] [NEW] No option in power settings to simply blank screen on lid close

2011-08-09 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

Running Oneiric Alpha 3 on a netbook. During testing, I need to set
power management to simply blank screen on lid close, not suspend or
hibernate. However, the power configuration tool (gnome-control-center
power) now provides no means to change behaviour on lid action.

In Natty and before, I could select the behaviour for lid close, now
that ability is missing.

[Bug 656297] Re: Brasero always burns at max speed cd-rw

2011-08-09 Thread FernanAguero
Confirmed on Natty. Speed setting is ignored.

As a workaround you can use wodim(1) on the command-line, until this
gets fixed. In this case the speed setting is acknowledged.

wodim dev=/dev/cdrw speed=4 -v image.iso

[Bug 823555] [NEW] Toolbar editor is useless due to dragging problem

2011-08-09 Thread Atanas Atanasov
Public bug reported:

When attempting to drag icons from/to the Toolbar editor in Evince, the
icon gets stuck to the cursor and I cannot drop it. I couldn't find a
way to peacefully cancel this action or quit evince from within the
desktop environment. My solution is to switch to a tty (e.g. by pressing
C-M-F1) and killing evinced. Dragging in other applications seems to
work fine so this looks like an evince-specific problem.

[Bug 820333] Re: Regional Formats

2011-08-09 Thread Jay Donovan
Many thanks for the response - unfortunately I'm looking for a way to
programmatically determine the system language so my app can present
itself appropriately.

The app actually uses Qt's QLocale::system().name() and this was working
fine in 10.10 but is returning en_US now regardless of the system
language.

Could you suggest an alternative solution to obtaining the system
language programmatically?

Thanks again,
Jay

I'm having the same problem. The failures seem to be random. Sometimes

not respond.

It is completely random for me too.

[Bug 823640] Re: Add uTouch gesture support to EOG

2011-08-09 Thread Chase Douglas
** Description changed:

- EOG needs basic uTouch gesture support in Oneiric.
+ EOG needs basic uTouch gesture support in Oneiric. This patch links some
+ eog viewing manipulations to simple gestures.

- This bug is for linking uTouch and EOG through libgrip.
+ On touchpads and touchscreens:
+ * Pinching or spreading with two fingers zooms in and out
+ * Rotating with two fingers snaps the image to 90 degree angles
+
+ On touchscreens:
+ * Dragging with one finger moves (scrolls) the image
+
+ On touchpads:
+ * Dragging (scrolling) with two fingers moves (scrolls) the image
+
+ By default in upstream eog 3.x, scrolling zooms in and out of the image.
+ This is a break from 2.x (and Ubuntu 11.04) where scrolling moved the
+ image. Two finger scrolling interferes with pinch to zoom, so the
+ default behavior has been reverted back to how it was in eog 2.x. This
+ is done by modifying the default value for the gobject property for the
+ scroll view. The setting can be changed in dconf-editor in
+ org.gnome.eog.view.scroll-wheel-zoom.

[Bug 820333] Re: Regional Formats

2011-08-09 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Sure. To me the term system language is the system wide language that
is used at startup and on the login screen, so I assume that you
actually mean what I usually refer to as the user language which may
differ between multiple users on a system.

If it's a locale name you need, check first the LC_MESSAGES environment
variable, and if it's not set, use the value of the LANG variable. This
works in Natty and will work in Oneiric, but might change after that.

HTH - let me know if it was something else you were after.
