[Bug 277404] Re: hp laserjet postscript text print does not print some characters
I've posted this over in freedesktop bug #19640 as well. (See references at top of page.) My printer is a HP M1522NF I'm seeing a similar bug to this too, except only one or two fonts are replaced with a square/rectangle char. Changing postscript level within the ppd file only works around the problem. I first noticed this with using Abiword. Open abiword and enter the available chars of the alphabet with numbers (ie. ABC..., abc..., 123...) and print using cups. Even printing to file and transfering the .ps file to and printing from Windows shows this problem. Another method to find the problem, is create or view a webpage using utf-8 and print a list of chars (similar to above). I happened across this method by finding and randomly printing a website within Seamonkey. www-client/seamonkey-2.3.1-2.3.3 (I haven't tested the specific site since 2.3.1 or 2.3.2??) app-text/poppler-0.16.7 app-office/abiword-2.8.6-r1 app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.7.1-r6 net-print/hplip-3.11.7 Oh, hplip comes with several ppd files for this device. Using the pcl ppd file which specifies PS Level 3, does print all chars just fine. (However the file printed has some unusually high margins -- but everything here is set to print Letter and not A4 or Legal.) A little more info, the HP M1522 is a PS Level 2 with PS Level 3 emulation. Does this matter? (I've got threads concerning this on the abiword cairo mailing lists.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277404 Title: hp laserjet postscript text print does not print some characters To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/277404/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 824099] Re: Max GL texture size can break multi-head
** Description changed: + There's a longstanding issue (see the duplicate bug #555641) with Compiz + and framebuffers larger than the maximum GL texture size. It used to be + the case that this would simply crash compiz, but mesa now has code to + fallback to software rendering for those cases. Unfortunately, this + rendering is unacceptably slow (on the order of 10s of seconds per + frame), particularly since the only hardware that will realistically hit + this limit is netbook hardware with the associated anaemic CPU. It also + appears to be broken in some cases (see bug #830949), although I can't + reproduce that myself. + + The Compiz Copy to Texture plugin can break textures up into = max + texture size chunks, allowing hardware rendering to work with these + large framebuffers. This is insufficient for Unity, though, which also + needs a way to break up its FBOs. + + For Oneiric we should patch g-s-d's xrandr plugin to disallow setting a + multi-monitor configuration with any dimension = max texture size when + Unity is running. For P this should be dropped in favour of enabling + Compiz's Copy to Texture plugin and fixing Unity. + + Original report: THIS IS A MASTER BUG OF FOUR DIFFERENT BUGS: [nVidia] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830955 [Intel N10] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830949 [Intel Arrandale, Mobile 4 Series] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830952 [ATI] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830953 Oneiric Alpha 3 installed on this system. Under testing, one test is to plug in an external monitor and ensure that external video functions properly. On this EeePC, it does not. (See photo attached to this bug). Once the external montior is plugged in, both the primary display and the external display are horribly garbled. The only thing that exists on the screen that's remotely readable is the panel at the top. The rest of the desktop area is just a mess. [Bug 857136] [NEW] Change password dialog not fully translated
Public bug reported: Hi, while using Oneiric Beta, I tried to change the default keyring password using seahorse (Passwords and Keys application in the Dash). The dialog that comes up if you right-click on the default keyring and choose to change the password, looks like is coming from gnome-keyring, since that strings there are in the gnome-keyring template. Not all of those strings are translated, albeit them being already translated since a while and also shipped with Ubuntu. Seahorse is at versione 3.1.92, gnome-keyring at version 3.1.92. I attach a screenshot of the problem. Thank you for your attention. ** Affects: ubuntu-translations Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: seahorse (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to seahorse in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857136 Title: Change password dialog not fully translated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+bug/857136/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 824099] Re: Max GL texture size can break multi-head
** Description changed: There's a longstanding issue (see the duplicate bug #555641) with Compiz and multi-monitor setups with any combined dimension larger than the maximum GL texture size. It used to be the case that this would simply crash compiz, but mesa now has code to fallback to software rendering for those cases. Unfortunately, this rendering is unacceptably slow (on the order of 10s of seconds per frame), particularly since the only hardware that will realistically hit this limit is netbook hardware with the associated anaemic CPU. It also appears to be broken in some cases (see bug #830949), although I can't reproduce that myself. The Compiz Copy to Texture plugin can break textures up into = max texture size chunks, allowing hardware rendering to work with these large framebuffers. This is insufficient for Unity, though, which also needs a way to break up its FBOs. For Oneiric we should patch g-s-d's xrandr plugin to disallow setting a multi-monitor configuration with any dimension = max texture size when - Unity is running. For P this should be dropped in favour of enabling - Compiz's Copy to Texture plugin and fixing Unity. + Unity is running. Additionally, the display capplet should not allow a + resolution to be explicitly set that will break Unity. For P this + should be dropped in favour of enabling Compiz's Copy to Texture + plugin and fixing Unity. Original report: THIS IS A MASTER BUG OF FOUR DIFFERENT BUGS: [nVidia] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830955 [Intel N10] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830949 [Intel Arrandale, Mobile 4 Series] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830952 [ATI] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/830953 Oneiric Alpha 3 installed on this system. [Bug 857168] [NEW] [Oneiric] [Regression] Screen goes black while watching video
Public bug reported: While watching a video in Ubuntu Gnome/Unity GUI with the video player (Totem), screen goes black after a while, where the use of a video player was inhibiting the screensaver to kick in in previous Ubuntu versions. Furthermore, in Control panel, the setting for screen to go black cannot be set to never, maximum is one hour, which doesn't give the user the choice to use this feature or not. [Bug 857203] [NEW] (oneiric) opening a new tab automatically moves and resizes window to one line
Public bug reported: In an Oneiric beta, when I add a new tab to the terminal window, the window is automatically resized to be one line high. At the same time, the window is moved to the very top of the screen, with the window decoration behind the top panel. This makes it difficult to move or resize it back to a usable state. Screenshot of resulting window attached. Expected behaviour? Opening a new tab should open the new tab, without changing the size or position of the window. (I am running on a laptop with an external monitor - not sure if that is related.) Thanks for your report. I can confirm this behaviour. setting to triaged/low ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Description changed: Using ANSI escape sequences you can change the cursor color from the command-line, like so: - echo ESC]12;rgb:8000/8000/8000^G; + echo ESC]12;rgb:8000/8000/8000^G; Where 'ESC' and '^G' are the single characters: escape and control-g. After doing this when you switch tab and back again the cursor color will have changed to black. + + TEST CASE: + 1. Open a gnome terminal + 2. Open a second tab (CTRL+SHIFT+T) + 3. On the first tab enter the following sequence on the prompt: + $ echo ESC]12;rgb:8000/8000/8000^G; + Where: + ESC = CTRL+V CTRL+ESC + ESC = CTRL+V CTRL+G + = The cursor color will change to grey + 4. [Bug 857283] [NEW] Search folders use incorrect source folder
Public bug reported: Ubuntu oneiric 11.10 evolution package version 3.1.91-0ubuntu1 This was working previously (before the migration to mbox format) I have several IMAP accounts and use search folders to group mail together. Existing search folders contain correct mail from before the upgrade, but none since If I create a new search folder, and add a simple search filter on a single specific source folder, the filter works correctly but is applied to the wrong account If I edit the properties of a search folder, the one created previously has entries in the Specific folders list such as: email:1291939542.2208.31@slughorn/Fortress whereas a newly created search folder entry is always: folder:/INBOX Note that ALL entries in the list are folder:/INBOX regardless of the source IMAP account, whereas entries created in the previous version have different numbers presumably identifying the IMAP account. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857283 Title: Search folders use incorrect source folder To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/857283/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
