[Bug 950648] [NEW] unable to select Use Unsafe Storage when changing password in Passwords and Keys

2012-03-09 Thread Armin Marth
Public bug reported:

when opening Passwords and Keys, right-clicking the default password and
clicking Change Password
I enter my Old password, and leave the New Password fields blanks, but when I
hit OK, I'm unable to interact with the Store Passwords Unencrypted? window.
I have the options for Use unsafe storage and Cancel, but clicking on
either of them does nothing. I'm not even able to drag the window. It doesn't
seem to respond to keyboard input, and I'm unable to tab across. The only way
to exit that window is to hit the X to close the window.

[Bug 899858] Re: regression in gvfs to connect/browse using obex

2012-03-09 Thread Martin Pitt
This was introduced years ago in

gvfs (1.4.1-5+gdu) experimental; urgency=low

  * 05_shared_libdaemon.patch:
+ Put the common code for all gvfsd-* in a private library in
/usr/lib/gvfs/libgvfsdaemon.so. This reduces binary sizes and
memory overhead caused by the multiple running daemons.
 [...]

 -- Josselin Mouette j...@debian.org Mon, 16 Nov 2009 18:28:56 +0100

So we don't want to regress this. We should fix the patch instead.

[Bug 829673] Re: FFE: No easy way to turn the network menu on/off

2012-03-09 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Still a problem in gnome-control-center 1:3.3.91-0ubuntu2 -- the
checkbox is AWOL.

** Description changed:

- network-manager 0.8.9997+git.20110721t045648.36db194-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu
- Ocelot
+ network-manager 0.8.9997+git.20110721t045648.36db194-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu Ocelot
+ network-manager 0.9.2.0+git201202161854.8572ecf-0ubuntu7,
gnome-control-center 1:3.3.91-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1

  1. Try to work out how to hide the networking menu. (For example, you're
using a desktop machine that is always connected by Ethernet.)

What happens: There's no obvious way to do it.

What should happen: I suggest a checkbox, Show network status menu in
the menu bar, at the bottom of the Network Connections window, as
  shown in
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking?action=AttachFiledo=viewtarget
=settings-window-flight-mode.png (Never mind that the rest of the
  window is different.)

[Bug 950717] [NEW] rhythmbox: Problems when unpausing a daapd source after long pause

2012-03-09 Thread Stefan Bader
Public bug reported:

I find that the following scenario gives weird behaviour:

1. music files are on another host running forked-daapd (precise)
2. daapd source added locally to rhythmbox and playing
3. pause playback (indicator or application)
4. wait (not sure about the minimum here, about 1 hour?)
5. resume playback

I had various effects here:
- playback resumes for the current song, then stops about the end. Interface
still
looks like playing (pause icon display in the app)
  - In order to revive playback, I pressed pause and playback.. Then suddenly
there was
a search running to get a html/text plugin. After that failed any song I
try to start
will get the invalid marker (one way sign).
- playback resumes for a short time, then suddenly another song is tried to
start and
another one, and so on in rapid succession. At some point rhythmbox crashed
but
that time I did not have the debug packages installed.

Feels like after a while forked-daapd may reset the connection and
present a text error message which is not handled.

[Bug 829648] Re: No easy way to turn the sound menu on/off

2012-03-09 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Nobody knows how often anyone does anything with Ubuntu, so it would be
unreasonable to cite that as a reason not to implement this particular
setting.

Use cases include:
* A PC at an Internet cafe, which therefore has no speakers.
* A point-of-sale terminal where the only sound is a beep, so it's not helpful
to change volume frequently (or at all).
* My brother-in-law who has an old Mac in the garage solely for playing music,
so the only volume control he needs is the one in the music player itself.

I wrote 1. Try to work out how to hide the sound menu not as a
problem, but as the step to reproduce the bug.

The sound menu is *already* a group indicator, so hand-waving group
indicators does not solve anything. If you have a specific alternative
suggestion, then present it. But if it's inconsistent with the method of
turning off the clock menu and the battery menu, then that will be a
strike against it.

[Bug 950774] [NEW] metacity should report union of workspaces in _NET_WORKAREA instead of just one

2012-03-09 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Public bug reported:

Reporting of _NET_WORKAREA
--
 - Metacity reports just one (the first) of the multiple regions available
 - Compiz returns the bounding rect of the multiple regions available (that
might contain a strut).

Both are wrong (as you can't express multiple available regions in
_NET_WORKAREA) but i find the unity way less wrong since the metacity
way negates any available space on some of the monitors completely.

Sam agrees with the compiz way being better

[Bug 948763] [NEW] keyboard layout indicator does not change its state when switching between windows

2012-03-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When enabled two different keyboard layouts, for example Russian and English,
and enabled option Allow different layouts for individual windows,
keyboard layout indicator does not change its state when switching between
windows.

To reproduce:
1) configure options as described above
2) open gedit, change active layout from default (for example, switch to
Russian)
and type some symbols ( ensure that Russian is active)
3) open gnome-terminal and type in it, without switching layout (English is
default layout)

result:
keyboard indicator still show Russian as active layout, but in terminal you
will see that English is active.

you can switch between gedit and gnome-terminal to ensure that it is
stable problem.

Tested on clean install 12.04 beta1 + updates
and on updated from 11.10 to 12.04

Same problem in gnome-session-fallback

[Bug 938076] Re: [UIFe]Auto-lock on suspend is still needed when encrypting file system

2012-03-09 Thread Scott Kitterman
ScottK mdeslaur: For your screen locking UIFe you need to inform the docs and
translation teams about it.
ScottK Other than that, I think it's good.
mdeslaur ScottK: I've sent emails to their list

Approved contingent on you being willing to provide any updated screen
shots the docs team might need (I think it's unlikely.

[Bug 938076] Re: [UIFe]Auto-lock on suspend is still needed when encrypting file system

2012-03-09 Thread Fitoschido
Hey! This is trivial but important: use a checkbox instead of a
GtkSwitch, since the switch is not aligned with anything on the screen
and accorging to Gnome HIG a checkbox is more appropiate in this cases.
