FYI: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/udisks/commit/?id=aa02e5fc53efdeaf66047d2ad437ed543178965b changed it to /run/media/. http://cgit.freedesktop.org/udisks/commit/?id=9541a638ffd3b1bcb1b6ef6a8a00cc599a626093 is also interesting and hints why this was done: In a multi-seat scenario it is more robust to mount them below a per-user directory so that devices from different users are less likely to collide on identical label names. This also shields mounts from different users from each other, which looks like a security measure. [Bug 1020758] Re: gedit crashed with signal 5 in _XReply()
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Please fix udisks to move its mounts back to /media. [Bug 912454] Re: Blank incoming messages
I have this issue since updating from Lucid to Precise. Even switched to Pidgin because of this. I have no realy clue why it happens, but it seems to be related to multiple open empathy windows on multiple desktops and then receiving a message from somebody where you have already a window open on another screen. Then it never opens a new window (if i press the indicator), nor it switches the desktop to the window. When i mange to find the window manually, i only see it empty. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912454 Title: Blank incoming messages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/912454/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Ie, if I connect to a mt-daapd server running lucid with rhythmbox on precise, I can play individual files fine. I have selected to have songs play in random order, and rhythmbox will continue to the next song fine. Occassionally audio will stop in one of the songs and then minutes later it will start up again (with no user interaction) in another song. When it does stop, I can click to fast forward to another song and it works ok. This does not seem to happen with local files (I played them for hours with no interruption), only daap served files. I have tried to correlate this with a problem with networking in precise, but do not see any messages problems in /var/log/syslog that would indicate a problem. Rhythmbox can play a mixture of ogg and mp3 files fine (ie, it is not a codecs issue). There is nothing in .xsession-errors when this occurs. I tried to strace rhythmbox at the time of the problem, but couldn't figure out what was happening. This worked fine in 11.10 and earlier. You have been subscribed to a public bug: This has been experienced in Ubuntu 12.04, completely updated before proceeding. I set up a system for my elderly parents. I created an administrator account for me, then a standard account for them with an empty password. They called me asking how to create a password for their account. I guided them to the settings manager only to find that they couldn't change their empty password. I had to create a password from my admin account first. Then they could change it through the standard mechanisms. It should be possible for a standard user to change its own empty password. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment empty password standard user -- Standard user can't change own empty password https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020769 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I have tested and the same bug, but I found something interesting: I leave empty password but change it with the command passwd, and can continue login without the password, after reboot too. [Bug 951104] Re: kde-telepathy-text-ui hijacks Empathy in Unity
This is not a bug in KDE Telepathy rather the opposite. All telepathy clients are dbus activated, so dbus just chooses whatever app can handle it (in this case, showing a text chat) In telepathy whoever is launching a channel can provide a preferredHandler and give the name of the handler. Unity clearly isn't giving one, (empathy) so dbus loads something at random. Setting a prerfferedHandler on ensure_channel will solve this. Yeah, it definitely seems like a Unity crash. In that case, do you have any .crash files for compiz in /var/crash?
