I have tried to reproduce, but it fails. Indeed that was what I have expected. The bugrate on this is to low on launchpad as that could be a common bug of GIMP to all. step5: crash (login window appears) from comment 5. That is a very valuable hint. It says that you have not so far a problem with GIMP, it is the xserver of your system that crashes. Gimp is just hitting the weak point of xserver. Xserver bugs are mostly hard to debug, but in your case it is possible, because you can reproduce it. --- The easiest way would be, if the system has gathered the crash by itself, but has not send it. Please check the directory /var/crash/ with nautilus if there is a .crash file of xorg or metacity or similiar. (You can post a list of files here if you want). With a right mouse click - open with - report problem you can send this manually. It should be entered in the crash database(no seperated ticket), but maybe you get a launchpad ticket Please report back. When trying to print the whole document with Evince, the printer only feeds a single paper but doesn't print anything onto it. In reality we have two bugs in the packages coming with Ubuntu: 1. evince bug: evince sends a blank page when trying to print the attached PDF file. 2. When trying to print the attached PDF file with Adobe Reader, your Brother printer does not print. A third bug is in TurboPrint, using a too old Ghostscript for their Ghostscript clone, but the developers told me that they will remove the Ghostscript clone in one of the next versions. Let this report handle the evince bug, as you have already attached the error_log for an evince job. Please create a new bug report on the package cups-filters in Ubuntu to handle the second bug. this is not looking good. Is your sytstem partial encrypted(/home) or full encrypted and with this the root partition in which the system programs are stored like xorg and gimp? [Bug 1022346] [NEW] gvfs-mount does not support WebDAV https resources requiring authentication
Public bug reported: Whenever I tried to mount a WebDAV https resource that requires Basic Authentication, either via the Connect to Server... gvfs-mount GUI or via CLI gvfs-mount, the UI went into a long mute pause, or the CLI command just did nothing - and then, after a few minutes, I got the error that the remote resource did not answer. As I administer the WebDAV server, I looked into the logs and noticed that the GVFS client (gvfs/1.10.0) did not send credentials, although the server clearly answered with 401 Auth Required. Can somebody confirm that gvfs-mount doesn't support authentication for WebDAV https resources? And why is the GUI asking for username and password if these aren't passed on to the WebDAV server? davfs, dave, litmus and all the others confirmed that my server works to spec and they connect without trouble. Only gvfs doesn't. It's clearly an issue with gfvs-mount, that, btw, doens't mention how to supply credentials on the CLI for login-only resources and doesn't ask for it interactively, not for http resources and not for https resources. Important: It could be , this is an issue with the https SSL backend, as I've found out that a WebDAV resource that requires credentials but does so over insecure http, works. An example is the http://demo.sabredav.org/public/ demo server. I'm another victim of this bug - my laptop screen is 1024x768 and I have an external 1280x1024 screen connected. The laptop is always the 'Unity' desktop and the icons do have a habit of disappearing into the non- visible part. Frustratingly, the mouse does not go into the non-visible part, so I have to 'Select All' and drag the hidden icons down into the viewable area.
