[Bug 1005495] Re: Change brightness keys don't work on Acer Aspire One D270
I filed a bug report in the GNOME bugtracker and added the link. Hopefully, this will help. My videocard is 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor D2xxx/N2xxx Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) according to lscpi and Intel GMA 3600 Grafik according to the website I bought it from (http://www.cyberport.de/notebook-und- tablet/notebooks/1CE7-05Q/aktion-acer-aspire-one-d270-weiss-plus- philips-schutzhuelle-gratis-.html). Frankly, I don't understand why a videocard can have two (or more?) names. Perhaps you understand it better than I do. I see a difference between this bug and bug #1020274: If I press Fn+left I don't see a notification which I guess means Ubuntu doesn't understand I want to reduce the LCD brightness. Here (http://dirs- dissman.livejournal.com/13758.html) it says, Ubuntu wants to reduce brightness but writes it to the wrong file. Not quite the same issue as I understand it. [Bug 992533] Re: [fglrx] gnome-control-center reports desktop monitor as Laptop
Confirmed. Seems to be specific to the fglrx driver, which reports the DVI output names as DFP1, DFP2 in xrandr. This is unusual so gnome- control-center is probably misinterpreting those names to be a laptop display. [Bug 1022390] Re: Apps lock on default Ubuntu desktop. No problem with XUbuntu desktop.
I'll try and answer your questions: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, Fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Memory 3.4GBytes Processor AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics x 2 Graphics VESA: DVST OS type 32-bit Disk 305.0GByte HP Pavilion g6-2123us After the fresh Ubuntu install, I installed mozilla's Thunderbird and Firefox. 2. the behavior you expected, and I was expecting the applications not to lock up. I was also expecting to be able to use sound when operating an HP g6-2123us booted up in Ubuntu. 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). The Thunderbird and Firefox applications locked up during use. Thunderbird would usually lockup upon accessing the 1st email. Firefox locked up if right clicking on a URL in a web page. I might be mistaken, but I think if either application intended to use the audio hardware, they would lock up (the application's window would darken and the application's buttons would be unresponsive). Note, even if the application's buttons were unresponsive, the Ubuntu window buttons (kill, minimize full-screen) were usable. If one clicked on the Ubuntu kill button a pop up would appear saying the application was unresponsive and asked if the application should be forcefully killed. Further information: The /var/log/syslog was inspected. It appears that the pulseaudio daemon failed to start on boot up: --- Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295591] Process pulseaudio (pid: 4898, ti=e9df task=e1c0bf20 task.ti=e9df) Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295594] Stack: Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295597] 0010 000240d0 eb78c180 e9f35c00 e9df1d14 f8793de2 0080 e9f35c00 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295610] ebb2a100 e9df1d14 f87003b7 e9f35c00 eb7de000 eb0a4e2c Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295622] eb78c180 e9f35c00 eb7dc24c e9df1d40 f86e9b73 0080 f7132238 eb78c180 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295633] Call Trace: Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295642] [f8793de2] hdmi_pcm_open+0x32/0x210 [snd_hda_codec_hdmi] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295657] [f87003b7] ? snd_pcm_hw_constraint_step+0x37/0x40 [snd_pcm] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295666] [f86e9b73] azx_pcm_open+0x1d3/0x280 [snd_hda_intel] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295678] [f86fee93] snd_pcm_open_substream+0x53/0x90 [snd_pcm] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295689] [f86fef8a] snd_pcm_open+0xba/0x240 [snd_pcm] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295699] [c1053fe0] ? try_to_wake_up+0x190/0x190 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295710] [f8cc8044] ? snd_lookup_minor_data+0x44/0x60 [snd] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295722] [f86ff19b] snd_pcm_playback_open+0x3b/0x50 [snd_pcm] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295733] [f8cc8544] snd_open+0xd4/0x260 [snd] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295740] [c1386d6c] ? kobj_lookup+0xfc/0x1a0 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295748] [c1148765] chrdev_open+0xb5/0x1e0 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295757] [c11427de] __dentry_open+0x25e/0x310 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295763] [c11486b0] ? cdev_put+0x20/0x20 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295769] [c1142d5a] vfs_open+0x3a/0x50 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295775] [c1143c59] nameidata_to_filp+0x39/0x40 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295782] [c11510b7] do_last+0x367/0x660 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295787] [c11523e4] path_openat+0xa4/0x350 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295794] [c117c084] ? fsnotify_put_event+0x44/0x60 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295800] [c117c084] ? fsnotify_put_event+0x44/0x60 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295806] [c11527a1] do_filp_open+0x31/0x80 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295814] [c12b7958] ? strncpy_from_user+0x38/0x70 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295820] [c115dd13] ? alloc_fd+0xa3/0xe0 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295826] [c1143d41] do_sys_open+0xe1/0x1f0 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295839] [f8ccd390] ? snd_ctl_elem_add_user+0x70/0x70 [snd] Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295846] [c1143e7e] sys_open+0x2e/0x40 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295854] [c15ac69f] sysenter_do_call+0x12/0x28 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295857] Code: 8d b6 00 00 00 00 0f b7 16 83 e8 02 83 c6 02 66 89 17 83 c7 02 eb 9f 8d b4 26 00 00 00 00 55 89 e5 56 53 83 ec 08 3e 8d 74 26 00 8b b0 84 00 00 00 89 c1 85 f6 7e 2b 8d 98 2c 0e 00 00 31 c0 39 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295929] EIP: [f8793c5d] hinfo_to_pin_index+0xd/0x60 [snd_hda_codec_hdmi] SS:ESP 0068:e9df1cc8 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295939] CR2: 0084 Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo kernel: [ 8335.295944] ---[ end trace 698f71d3b8b827c9 ]--- Jul 13 15:24:05 frodo pulseaudio[4895]: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. --- Here is a list of audio devices on

[Bug 1025087] [NEW] [regression] Double-clicking a date in calendar applet opens the previous day in Evolution (again)
Public bug reported: This bug is back again. In Precise, double-clicking a date in the calendar applet consistently opens the previous day in Evolution for me. Looking in ps, the calendar applet is launching Evolution with this command-line for July 25: evolution calendar:///?startdate=20120725T08Z I am in the America/Los_Angeles timezone which is GMT -8 or GMT -7 during DST, so that seems to be a valid date string for July 25 (8 AM GMT is 1 AM PDT or 12 AM PST, either of which should mean July 25), but Evolution interprets it as meaning July 24. By trial and error, I found that the threshold where it will start opening July 25 is 20120725T14Z, i.e. July 25 at 2 PM. For December 1, the threshold is 20121201T16Z, i.e. December 1 at 4 PM. The significance to this is that the offset of 14 in the summer is 7 * 2 and the offset of 16 in the winter is 8 * 2, so it appears that Evolution is incorrectly applying the time zone subtraction twice. This is actually an improvement from Oneiric where it was even more broken (bug 919157), but it is a regression from earlier where everything was working. I can't say for sure which was the last release where this worked, though. [Bug 988138] Re: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04, is very slow to take AI turns, crashes, loops sounds and gives wrong score in the end. Worked fine in 11.10
Yet another bug in this buggy buggy version. If the AI does multiple moves (you slipped up and he got a bunch of moves due to no open positions for you), you can't undo past all the moves. It appears that as soon as you try one undo, the horribly slow AI thinking freezes everything up, and you can't do anything until it redoes the move. There's no way to get past it. At least, have only had this happen once, but I tried undoing 5 times without any better results. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988138 Title: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04, is very slow to take AI turns, crashes, loops sounds and gives wrong score in the end.
