strip on the bottom left, right above 10 songs, 32 minutes etc.

[Bug 1043336] Re: Swiss keyboard layout with Apple keyboard (period instead of comma)

2012-08-31 Thread Michael Tanner
** Description changed:

It is a known bug that two keys on an Apple keyboard are swapped. There is
another bug which occurs on Swiss keyboards with an Apple model.
- In Switzerland people have a period instead of a comma on their numpad.
+ In Switzerland people have a period instead of a comma on their numpad. Also
there is something weird with the default mapping of the upper left key below
ESC.
To correct this there is a workaround with xmodmap:

  keycode 91 = period period
+ keycode 94 = section degree

I think this is not the best solution so I report this as a new bug.

[Bug 938751] Re: jpeg images are washed out or colors are skewed

2012-08-31 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I was observing the same issue since a recent update in precise (I have
upgraded to quantal since then and the issue persisted).
Unsetting the ICC profile as suggested by Felix in comment #14 solved the issue.

Before unsetting the ICC profile, I took the test suggested in comment
#19 (opened the image in gimp, and verified that ticking Try to use the
system monitor profile resulted in the same washed out colours observed
in eog). So it’s definitely an issue with the profile, not eog itself.

[Bug 1044357] [NEW] account-plugin-empathy should depend on signon-plugin-password

2012-08-31 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Public bug reported:

The next version of Empathy (3.5.91) will have its UOA plugin store the
user's credentials in signond. In order for this to work correctly, a
run-time dependency on the signon-plugin-password package will need to
be added on account-plugin-empathy.

[Bug 992533] Re: [fglrx] gnome-control-center reports desktop monitor as Laptop

2012-08-31 Thread Michele Giacomoli
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 970560 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/970560

I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug #970560. In fact robert
doesn't say his monitor is seen as laptop, but his Desktop, those big
boxes we had in our home until some years ago, nowadays replaced by
laptops :)

In fact i recently noticed that on two desktops (one is mine, the other
is of a friend of mine) their monitor are seen as laptop instead of
the real name of the monitor. In addiction to this I have to say that
both computers have a NVIDIA graphic card, but I suspect this
misbehavior is present also with ATI ones

[Bug 849733] Re: No icon in notification area while transfering files

2012-08-31 Thread jeanjean84
Same problem for me in Unity-2d in Ubuntu Precise 12.04.1 and Nautilus
3.4.2 ...

I found a workaround to recover the progress window: wmctrl

wmctrl -l List the windows being managed by the window manager.
wmctrl -a WIN Switch to the desktop containing the window WIN, raise the
window, and give it focus.

See wmctrl(1) - Linux man page http://linux.die.net/man/1/wmctrl

It does the trick! But it is just a workaround!

I miss Lucid on that one

ctrl-alt-tab does not work (nor alt-tab...) at all for me...

[Bug 1044520] [NEW] Open indicator menu inhibits media keys

2012-08-31 Thread Steve Magoun
Public bug reported:

Media keys do not function if an indicator menu is open. I noticed this
when I had the sound indicator menu open and I tried to use a media key
on my keyboard to adjust the volume.

To reproduce:
1) On a keyboard with media keys such as sound up/down/mute, press one of the
media keys and observe that it works as expected
2) Click the sound indicator to open the sound indicator menu
3) Press the media key from step one

Expected results:
The media key performs its normal function and the corresponding OSD is
displayed

Actual results:
Nothing happens (sound does not get louder/softer, for example) and no OSD is
displayed

This seems to affect all media keys regardless of their function, and
any indicator menu can trigger the behavior.

Thomas,

I'm glad my script finally worked for you. Given that my script uses
ACPI through sysfs I'm not surprised to see that ACPI-related kernel
tweaking can mess it up.

[Bug 1044592] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-08-31 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libjack-jackd2-0: package version
1.9.8~dfsg.4+20120529git007cdc37-2ubuntu1 dbgsym version 1.9.8~dfsg.1-1ubuntu1
outdated debug symbol package for usbutils: package version 1:005-3 dbgsym
version 1:005-1
outdated debug symbol package for initscripts: package version
2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu13 dbgsym version 2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu11.1
outdated debug symbol package for module-init-tools: package version
3.16-1ubuntu3 dbgsym version 3.16-1ubuntu2

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

** Description changed:

Updating Quantal today, I ran update-manager and picked 'Partial
Upgrade'. It ran through its progress stages for a while, then crashed.
Can't think of any other suspicious circumstances.

- (It respawned, and I chose the plain 'Continue' button instead; that
- upgrade ran fine.)
-
Apport crashed with bug 1017338 while reporting this. But the report
- went on to open Launchpad. If any information was lost, I'll try to
- recover it. Thanks.
+ went on to open Launchpad. I'm not totally sure what all the reported
+ info should be, so I don't know if any was dropped. Thanks.
