[Bug 850649] Re: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy
Similar symptoms as above: frequently switching from gnome-terminal to Firefox causes gnome-terminal to scroll very slowly (takes one or two seconds to scroll a single line). Single monitor display, nVidia GeForce 8400, driver version: 304.43, Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. Tried to figure out when and why that happens and here are some scenarios: - happens with every libvte based terminal - happens with xterm and rxvt-unicode if an xft font is used for display - does _not_ happen with xterm and rxvt-unicode if a bitmapped xorg core font is used - happens with every libvte based terminal if system wide font hinting is set to slight and font anti-aliasing is set to none (in this case fonts will look the same as a bitmapped xorg core font) As you can see, even if the system wide setting is set to look the same as a bitmapped font, it does behave differently in this case. Could this be related to some font rendering performance? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850649 Title: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/850649/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1075196] [NEW] Rhythmbox never starts minimized
Public bug reported: Hi! I'm on Quantal (12.10). What I expected: If I lunch rhythmbox (2.97-1ubuntu6) from Dash, from Alt+F2, from terminal ecc it should show the main window. If i start it from the sound menu (by clicking the Play button, not the application name) it should start and start playing without showing me the main window. What I obtain: There's no actually a way to start rhythmbox minimized. In old versions there was an option --hide to launch it without showing the main window. In newer versions there should be a gsetting key that remember the last state (minimized, normal, maximized). In the last verion it's simply impossible to launch it minimized. Way to replicate this: Open rhythmbox, then closed it (Ctrl+Q), then push Play in sound Menu. It does not start playing and, instead show the main window. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075196 Title: Rhythmbox never starts minimized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1075196/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1075178] [NEW] GtkFileChooserDialog does not provide access to network shares (Samba, GVFS) directly and with Nautilus bookmarks
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have Ubuntu 12.04 with latest updates. Also I have Qnap NAS (let mark its IP as 192.168.x.x) with normally configured share 'share_name'. I have mounted a the Samba share in Nautilus, added it to bookmarks in the Sidebar. When I click to this Bookmark in Network section, it opens and Nautilus reports Location 'smb://192.168.x.x/share_name/'. So I see my files and folders. If I go to any GTK application, for example 'meld' and try to open file from my Samba share I can't see this Bookmark. If I manually navigate to folder '/home/user/.gvfs/share_name on 192.168.x.x' I can see my files. If I try to add this path to bookmarks I get message: Could not add a bookmark smb://192.168.x.x/share_name/ already exists in the bookmarks list . But bookmark is not shown. [Bug 1075286] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon crashed with sigabrt in raise()
Public bug reported: what i was doing: - I was watching a fullscreen youtube video (length of the video was about an hour, and I was halfway through) What happened: - the video stalled but remained fullscreen. ESC didn't work, ALT+TAB did bring Unity to the front, and showed the window switcher. the window switcher responded normally, and the selected window was supposedly focused, but the video stayed in front and fullscreen. - HDD read/write went nuts. what i did next: - i went to VT2, logged in and ran Top. it revealed gnome-settings-daemon to be taking 80% CPU (the other 20% was devided between Xorg, Thunderbird Firefox and other) - i tried going back to VT7, but the graphics was messed up. CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE didn't work. back to VT2 worked. - i tried to kill gnome-settings-daemon. no go. - i did sudo killall -u user which effectively logged me out. - I logged back in. upon log-in i got a crash report. it didn't open Launchpad. - I did ubuntu-bug gnome-settings-daemon and reported manually. - i restarted the video and watched the remaining half fullscreen without trouble. i have no idea about reproducing this.
