[Bug 1157583] [NEW] Unable to copy files from samba share to gvfsd-mtp mounted device

2013-03-20 Thread AndreK
Public bug reported:

Reroduce: (Ubuntu 13.04 B1)

1.- Connect an MTP device, I used an android device.
2.- mount a samba share , like smb://server/share
3.- try to copy a file from the mounted SMB share, to MTP device.

- you will get an error message.
- copy from local file system to MTP works fine.

I am very glad that you finally added mtp as a standard part of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1157591] [NEW] adding a new account almost always fails silently

2013-03-20 Thread Florian Hars
Public bug reported:

Adding the first account worked flawlessly, but since then evolution
will just walk me through the new account wizard, congratulate me that I
configured an account and that I should click Apply to activate it,
and if I click Apply close the wizard, forget all the account

The only example was a gmail imap accoun which I managed to add at the
sixth or seventh try. I can't remember that I had done anything
different on that try than before.

[Bug 517215] Re: Evince prints an extra blank page after each print job

2013-03-20 Thread vanadium
I would like to see this bug reopened, because it is an issue that I
have been facing since I started using Ubuntu four years ago, and which
I have experiences with a range of HP laserprinters (strangely enough, I
do not have any experience with other printers ;). This is an anoying
bug, causing paper to be spilled. I am surprised to find so few
information about this on the internet: apparently people do not care.

The issue is long standing and confined to evince only. To reproduce,
open a PDF in Ubuntu, Ctrl+p, select Current page, and instead of the
current page, the current page + a blanc page comes out. Print the
entire document, and an extra page comes out.

This is not related to mismatched papersizes between the print settings
and the PDF page size: I tested that. (in fact, there would be no reason
for a blank page even if paper sizes would not match).

I changed the description of this bug from Additional blank pages to
Evince prints an extra blank page after each print job.

Please provide clear instructions if you need extra information, as my
technical background is limited.

** Summary changed:

- Additional blank pages
+ Evince prints an extra blank page after each print job

[Bug 1157621] [NEW] access() calls included for debugging hang nautilus on webdav fuse mount

2013-03-20 Thread Roman Yepishev
Public bug reported:

Nautilus issues access() calls with the filenames that can't possibly
exist:

[pid 14422] access(MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_change_signals:
start , F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
[pid 14422] access(MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_files_changed: start
, F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
[pid 14422] access(MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_files_changed: end
, F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
[pid 14422] access(MARK: nautilus nautilus_directory_emit_change_signals: end
, F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

This was created in 2006,
http://people.gnome.org/~federico/news-2006-03.html#09 to aid debugging,
however as access() is used for testing whether the object exists/can be
read/written by the process, these calls actually hit the underlying
filesystem.

While local filesystems are pretty quick to answer with ENOENT, the
remote filesystems, such as WebDAV over FUSE (with davfs2) will need to
check with the server for these files every time. davfs2 caches the
results, however if the remote filesystem was modified by copying a file
there, nautilus will hang until davfs2 finishes uploading the file and
is able to answer that access() call in case it was issued with the
current working dir set to a directory on davfs mount.

I think this method to gather performance information should be replaced
with something that does not use access() so that filesystem is not
touched at all.

[Bug 517215] Re: Evince prints an extra blank page after each print job

2013-03-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if
somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software
by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 934291] Re: Deleting or stopping print jobs does not work

2013-03-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Michael: what desktop do you use? Ubuntu (or its default desktop:
unity) uses system-config-printer still instead of the GNOME Ui and the
interface we are using doesn't have that issue...

2013-03-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue is with a buggy ppa version, seems it's from ricotz who uploaded a
copy from the debian version to the elementary-os ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~elementary-os/+archive/daily/+packages?field.name_filter=shotwellfield.status_filter=publishedfield.series_filter=

that package split shotwell in shotwell and shotwell-common binaries and
creates conflict

Rico, you probably want to merge back the binaries, otherwise upgrades
will not work since we don't split -common in Ubuntu

[Bug 1157698] [NEW] gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in g_simple_async_result_complete()

2013-03-20 Thread Eilthalearin Kheru
Public bug reported:

Opened Online Accounts settings. Tried to add Facebook account but then
just before entering login details I've pressed cancel (just didn't feel
like doing it at this time). Window closed and the crash happened.

Just for the record: I am unable to make Online accounts to work at all
(tried google and facebook). Empathy says that they need authorisation
all the time and never goes online. Was working fine on 12.10.

[Bug 907311] Re: Not exiting properly? An instance of Brasero is already running, exiting

2013-03-20 Thread Len Ovens
Here we see the problem with marking bugs as duplicates. It may be
helpful to see the comments in the duplicate bug reports. This is
something that happens when brasero is started as context. (as stated
above) The problem is that the dialog that then opens expects that it
was opened from the main window and so doesn't exit when it closes...
but there is no main window open to exit from. There needs to be a
wrapper around context use that does that... sort of an invisible main
window that exits brasero when the context dialog exits.

[Bug 1041887] Re: Cannot type Korean characters.

2013-03-20 Thread Floby
I also have this bug.
I've used the korean keyboard in previous ubuntu releases with iBus.

The korean layout is actually two keyboard layouts in one.
The first one is similar to the english layout
The second one is the hangul layout.

I used to be able to switch between these two (still in the same korean
ibus layout) with a key I mapped for that (Can't remember the name).

The problem seems to be caused by the chronic impossibility to remap
anything in Ubuntu + Unity.

[Bug 1157654] Re: Sound recorder does not work

2013-03-20 Thread James Lewis
I have the same issue, seen in the video here:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDTw3Q4mTmQ

Other applications can record using pulseaudio, I regularly use
pulseaudio to manage 4 or 5 possible input sources and several outputs
depending on the application. This appears to be an issue specifically
with Sound Recorder. I have verified it on 2 machines now.

Do you mean that you would like that Urdu Nastaliq Unicode in
/etc/fonts/conf.d/65-nonlatin.conf is exchanged for Nafees Regular?

Yeah, Urdu Nastaliq Unicode would be the default.

Hmm.. Now I'm really confused.

Currently Urdu Nastaliq Unicode is in
/etc/fonts/conf.d/65-nonlatin.conf. Hence it is the default already,
isn't it?

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-03-20 Thread Claudio
affects me too.
I use Raring daily with all updates. I can confirm hangs copying big files or
e. g. here a folder with 29MB.
Sometimes grep on network shares hangs without error and can't be killed even
with kill -9.
Also viewing images from network shares hangs sometimes. Same effekt also on
Mint 14.

Or do you mean that you would like to see two entries, like:

[Bug 1080656] Re: bluetooth-wizard crashes when the name of a discovered device is NULL

2013-03-20 Thread Ryan Harper
I've got a ZelHer P20 headset and a W520 Lenovo laptop, the same problem
occurs.

What I observed is that during the first 60 seconds of activating the
P20 headset, running bt-adapter -d will display the Name: (null) and in
the bluetooth-wizard, it only shows the bt address (mac-like format).

After about 60 seconds of the headset in pairing mode, re-running bt-
adapter-d, the name field is now populated. After the name field is
present, pairing can be complete.

So, while clearly gnome-bluetooth should handle the case where name is
null, there may be a workaround if you can keep your device in pairing
mode long enough so that the name of the adapter appears.

Re: [Bug 1153188] Re: Urdu with better support: Default Fonts, Kbd Layout

2013-03-20 Thread Abdellah Chelli
I just tried to check the name in system, I have installed the new package
from the ppa.

I couldn't find a font with this name Urdu Nastaliq Unicode, even using
gnome-font-view for each font in both packages Nafees PakType. I was
thinking the its the name of the new included font NafeesNastaliq.

Actually we were looking for NafeesNastaleeq.ttf , if fallback option
available: NafeesWeb.ttf (Nafees Regular) will be good. (Please, Shabbir
let us know if you would other way.)

I am not familiar with fonts, but the new included font,
NafeesNastaleeq.ttf file, does not have a name. As it seems in
gnome-font-viewer. I couldn't find in the font list. Is it a problem in
this font?

On Wed, Mar 20, 2013 at 4:32 PM, Gunnar Hjalmarsson

Or do you mean that you would like to see two entries, like:

thus making Nafees Regular a fallback alternative?

[Bug 1041887] Re: Cannot type Korean characters.

2013-03-20 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
On 2012-09-18, John Kim wrote:
What I meant was if one goes to language support, allows ibus as an
input method, and install ibus-hangul from the software center, one
 can type in Korean.

Right. And just switching to a Korean keyboard layout is not supposed to
be sufficient, is it?

Btw, ibus-hangul is automatically installed if you install the Korean
language. But doing so is not necessary; as you said you can install it
via e.g. the Software Centre.

So I take it there is no Cannot type Korean characters bug. Possibly
there were a couple of misconceptions.

On 2013-03-20 14:46, Floby wrote:
 I also have this bug.

Which bug is that?

The korean layout is actually two keyboard layouts in one.
The first one is similar to the english layout
The second one is the hangul layout.

I used to be able to switch between these two (still in the same korean
ibus layout) with a key I mapped for that (Can't remember the name).

I can do so now. If Korean - Korean is the only (or the topmost) input
method in IBus Preferences, I can switch between them by typing Ctrl +
Space.

The problem seems to be caused by the chronic impossibility to remap
 anything in Ubuntu + Unity.

There is an interface in IBus Preferences for setting keyboard
shortcuts.

Anybody who will object if I close this bug report?

[Bug 1114661] Re: hpcups messes up space after exclamation mark

2013-03-20 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
Thanks Till for caring. As of Mar 03, I cannot reproduce the problem any
longer. Whatever caused the difference in rendering, it has been fixed:
All results look the same, LaTeX's produced PDF, print preview, and
print-to-PDF.

I will close this bug as invalid. If it ever reappears, I will reopen
this report. Until then let's hope it was a temporary problem.

[Bug 1153188] Re: Urdu with better support: Default Fonts, Kbd Layout

2013-03-20 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
The name of the file in the downloaded zip file is Nafees Nastaleeq
v1.02.ttf. When preparing the package in my PPA I took the liberty of
renaming the file to NafeesNastaleeq.ttf, which seemed to be
consistent with the names of other .ttf files.

The zip file also contains a Release Notes document, and in the change
log I read:

quoteVersion number is removed from font name. The new name is “Nafees
Nastaleeq”/quote

I suppose that you can edit /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-nonlatin.conf manually
and study the result instantly. What if you replace Urdu Nastaliq
Unicode with Nafees Nastaleeq?
