[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
I've just installed Krusader to use as an alternative file handler when network access is required. It seems to work fine with my NAS, copying large directories (3 GB+) of photos (4 - 5 MB each) without trouble (although it does slow a bit towards the end). [Bug 1209002] [NEW] Click-to-focus causes unwanted text selection in terminator
Public bug reported: When using the mouse to activate a Terminator window, it is difficult not to select a couple of characters or a whole line. This causes errors when trying to copy and paste. It appears that selection is implemented by noting the character cell that the mouse was initially clicked in, and start a selection if the pointer strays into another cell during the click. This is a poor heuristic, because the pointer may have initially been at the edge of a cell, and it is nearly impossible with a high-resolution mouse to remain absolutely still during a click. If I'm not mistaken, the standard way of handling this is to start a selection when the pointer has moved at least the entire width and/or height of a character of a cell during a click, not just when it has crossed a cell boundary. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS, using terminator version 0.96-0ubuntu1. What I expect to happen: when clicking to focus a terminator window, no text should be highlighted/selected unless I purposefully drag the mouse during the click. What happens (much of the time): an unexpected text selection is made, causing any previously copied text to be lost before I can paste it. I do not see this behavior with gnome-terminal or xterm. But I have also recently observed it when using terminator on a laptop running Mint, so am pretty sure it is a feature of the terminator application and not something else. ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: mouse terminator -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1209002 Title: Click-to-focus causes unwanted text selection in terminator To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1209002/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1209002] Re: Click-to-focus causes unwanted text selection in terminator
Two quick corrections/addenda: 1. I'm not sure why this got categorized under gnome-terminal; I thought I specified the terminator package during submission. Sorry for any confusion. I'm a bit new at this. 2. On further experimentation, I'm pretty sure terminator starts a selection if the mouse pointer moves so much as ONE PIXEL in any direction during a click. So it's even more sensitive than described at first -- looks like character cell boundaries have nothing to do with it. Also, the symptom can appear with any click, not just one that brings focus to the terminal window. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1209002 Title: Click-to-focus causes unwanted text selection in terminator To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1209002/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1178272] Re: Without pulseaudio, gstreamer applications report jack server is not running or cannot be started and do not play
Correction: The problem appears with Banshee and Rhythmbox, but it does not appear with Quod Libet, which also uses GStreamer. [Bug 653705] Re: Doesn't ask for a password - IMAP
I found a workaround: As I am using Kubuntu (=Ubuntu with KDE), not all Gnome packages are installed. So I manually installed gnome-keyring (+ dependancies gcr, libpam-gnome-keyring), which seems to be the password backend for Evolution. This may mean it's not a GStreamer problem at all, but more a problem of correctly using GStreamer. Nope, this is neither a Banshee nor Rhythmbox problem. Both Banshee and Rhythmbox now use gstreamer1.0, while quodlibet is still using gstreamer0.10, which is why you see the difference here. Gstreamer-using applications require an audio sink to output sound. By default, Ubuntu uses pulseaudio for sound output by default, which is provided by gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio or gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio depending on the gstreamer version you're using. If you remove pulseaudio, that sink fails, and it attempts to fall back onto another sink, which in this case is jack (which also doesn't work because you don't have jackd running). The correct sink to use if you've disabled pulseaudio is probably alsa, which is provided by the gstreamer1.0-alsa package. Please make sure you have that installed. affects ubuntu/banshee status invalid affects ubuntu/rhythmbox status invalid -- Kind regards, Loong Jin ** Changed in: banshee (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178272 Title: Without pulseaudio, banshee and rhythmbox report jack server is not running or cannot be started and do not play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/1178272/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
