[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-08-06 Thread David Samuels
I've just installed Krusader to use as an alternative file handler when
network access is required. It seems to work fine with my NAS, copying
large directories (3 GB+) of photos (4 - 5 MB each) without trouble
(although it does slow a bit towards the end). It will do until the gvfs
problem is solved.

Before this solution, I played with Fedora 19.1 but it had the same
problem so I didn't switch.

[Bug 510059] Re: Gvfs keeps asking for password when trying to mount Samba share

2013-08-06 Thread asheenlevrai
+1

Running Ubuntu 13.04 here and experiencing the same issue.
gvfs can connect flawlessly to shares supporting NTLMv2 but cannot connect to
shares supporting NTLM only

The same behavior is observed in Win7 and OSX 10.7 but there are
settings that can be modified to add back support for NTLM
authentication.

[Bug 1208993] [NEW] Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB

2013-08-06 Thread Merlijn Sebrechts
Public bug reported:

Hi

While copying many and large files to and from a USB drive, the system
becomes incredibly slow and sometimes hangs. I watched the system
monitor while it was running slowly but cpu was not above 50% at any
time, the same for memory.

I'm using the WD my passport HD with a USB3 port of my ASUS K55VD
laptop.

Description:Ubuntu 13.04
Release:13.04

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16
  Candidate: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 0

Steps to reproduce:
1) Aquire many large files (like your totally legit moviecollection)
2) Copy files to external HD
3) Open your browser and be sad when your system becomes incredibly slow after
a few minutes

This is my first bugreport so if I'm missing something, please tell me.

[Bug 1209002] [NEW] Click-to-focus causes unwanted text selection in terminator

2013-08-06 Thread Duncan Seagull
Public bug reported:

When using the mouse to activate a Terminator window, it is difficult
not to select a couple of characters or a whole line. This causes
errors when trying to copy and paste.

It appears that selection is implemented by noting the character cell
that the mouse was initially clicked in, and start a selection if the
pointer strays into another cell during the click. This is a poor
heuristic, because the pointer may have initially been at the edge of a
cell, and it is nearly impossible with a high-resolution mouse to remain
absolutely still during a click. If I'm not mistaken, the standard way
of handling this is to start a selection when the pointer has moved at
least the entire width and/or height of a character of a cell during a
click, not just when it has crossed a cell boundary.

I'm on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS, using terminator version 0.96-0ubuntu1.

What I expect to happen: when clicking to focus a terminator window, no
text should be highlighted/selected unless I purposefully drag the mouse
during the click.

What happens (much of the time): an unexpected text selection is made,
causing any previously copied text to be lost before I can paste it.

I do not see this behavior with gnome-terminal or xterm. But I have
also recently observed it when using terminator on a laptop running
Mint, so am pretty sure it is a feature of the terminator application
and not something else.

[Bug 1209002] Re: Click-to-focus causes unwanted text selection in terminator

2013-08-06 Thread Duncan Seagull
Two quick corrections/addenda:

1. I'm not sure why this got categorized under gnome-terminal; I
thought I specified the terminator package during submission. Sorry
for any confusion. I'm a bit new at this.

2. On further experimentation, I'm pretty sure terminator starts a
selection if the mouse pointer moves so much as ONE PIXEL in any
direction during a click. So it's even more sensitive than described at
first -- looks like character cell boundaries have nothing to do with
it. Also, the symptom can appear with any click, not just one that
brings focus to the terminal window.

[Bug 653705] Re: Doesn't ask for a password - IMAP

2013-08-06 Thread xor
I found a workaround:
As I am using Kubuntu (=Ubuntu with KDE), not all Gnome packages are installed.
So I manually installed gnome-keyring (+ dependancies gcr,
libpam-gnome-keyring), which seems to be the password backend for Evolution.
Now Evolution asks for a password :)

Nope, this is neither a Banshee nor Rhythmbox problem. Both Banshee and
Rhythmbox now use gstreamer1.0, while quodlibet is still using gstreamer0.10,
which is why you see the difference here.

Gstreamer-using applications require an audio sink to output sound. By
default, Ubuntu uses pulseaudio for sound output by default, which is provided
by gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio or gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio depending on the
gstreamer version you're using. If you remove pulseaudio, that sink fails, and
it attempts to fall back onto another sink, which in this case is jack (which
also doesn't work because you don't have jackd running).

The correct sink to use if you've disabled pulseaudio is probably alsa, which is
provided by the gstreamer1.0-alsa package. Please make sure you have that
installed.
