[Bug 1242248] [NEW] Gnome Control Center crash when trying to change lanquage or keyboard layout
Public bug reported: After I upgraded to ubuntu 13.10, the key to switch the keyboard layout was not functionning anymore. [Bug 1242408] [NEW] Whole system freezes while copying files
Public bug reported: The same issue occurred to me 3 times today in Ubuntu 13.10, under different circumstances. I was copying files in Nautilus from my internal HD to an external HD, when after about one minute the whole system froze to the point that I had to shut down my PC brutally using the power button. Here are the details about the drives and partitions: - Internal: 500 GB drive, 460 GB NTFS partition, distinct from my Ubuntu partition - External: 1 TB, one single NTFS partition I've been using Ubuntu for just about 4 weeks, but before today I'd been reading and writing from both drives involved without any issue. I was not able to clearly identify the particular conditions that were causing the copy operation to fail, as the circumstances varied: - In one occurrence of the bug, I also had a second external HD (320 GB) plugged in; however, when the problem reoccurred this was no longer the case. - The folder I was trying to copy that first caused the issue was an SVN repository (30 MB). However, I was subsequently able to copy it succesfully. Besides, later on the issue occurred with a different folder containing photos (12 GB). [Bug 1242420] [NEW] Memory leak in Gimp 2.8.6
Public bug reported: I just upgraded from 13.10 from 13.04. My wife is a professional photographer and relies on Gimp for the brunt of her editing. After the upgrade, the system would routinely slow to a crawl while she is working. This is on a modern system with 4GB of RAM. We started watching memory usage in Top while she edited to try to see what the problem was. Every time a new filter, plugin, tool, etc is used - the used memory goes up and the free memory goes down. When the tool/filter/plugin is finished, this memory is never freed back up. This continues all the way until we are using swap space and things then really slow to a crawl. Closing Gimp frees all of the memory, then it will work fine again for a while during use until all the free memory leaks over again, at which time she must save her work, close gimp and start again. ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242420 Title: Memory leak in Gimp 2.8.6 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1242420/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1148033] Re: GDBus.Error:org.openobex:Error.Failed: Unable to request session
I have the same bug in newly installed ubuntu 13.10 (clean install). There was a problem with even pairing my Galaxy SII phone with my Dell Latitude E4300. When I tried to pair it via the phone, it did, but I couldn't send or receive files from and to any of the devices. But when I tried to pair it via my laptop, it wouldn't even pair. Just the message that it failed. Also in both cases no request or message was seen on any device. I managed to pair it, however, trying to do it on both devices simultaneously. And then the message appears on both devices. I still wasn't able to send or receive files because the connection was off according to my laptop. However, I found a workaround for this too - you have to establish the connection, e.g. try to connect from the phone (it establishes the connection for a few seconds) and while it's on, send the file(s). It works then. I only tried it with a small picture though. I hope it helps someone who needs it. Previously, in ubuntu 12.04, I was able to use it with my previous phone (SE G502) but only through browse files on the device or sending files, it wouldn't receive files. [Bug 1241272] Re: Cannot create new menu items or restore system configuration in Alacarte
Ok, some investigation reveals that dragdrop was dropped in 12.10. I had 12.04 running prior, with menus already setup, and upgraded later thus not noticing this. So this would be a separate issue. Besides that, i checked that alacarte actually creates at least item- and folder-entries in ~/.local/share/, but i don't know where to look for ordering-configuration, i.e. what stores information about which item goes where. Maybe the problem is there. Still, i wonder why dragdrop vanished. How shall I move items where i want them? Or am i not supposed to do that? So a nuisance more than a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241811 Title: USB disk not automatically mounted after upgrade to 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1241811/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
Just updated from the PPA https://launchpad.net/~attente/+archive/1218322 and the bug almost fixed! Versions are: gnome-control-center 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu44ppa2 gnome-settings-daemon 3.8.5-0ubuntu9ppa4 I successfully switched from Alt+5 to Ctrl-Shift as my main layout changer. Even Caps Lock works but along with changing the input source it works as usual Caps Lock actually locking to capitals. This default CapsLock behaviour should be cancelled when it is used to change input source. This issue is the only one I can find right now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-keyboard/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1227920] Re: after suspend/resume, the Unity HUD is always open when I unlock the screen
I see this behaviour as well on my desktop. Ubuntu 13.10 64bit, nvidia graphics (binary drivers). I suspend using menu option, then resume by pressing power button. I get a password screen, enter my password, and when it drops to the desktop, the HUD is already open. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1227920 Title: after suspend/resume, the Unity HUD is always open when I unlock the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1227920/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1242475] [NEW] Nautilus overwrites existing files when merging folders
Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 13.10 64bits. When I drag and drop a folder from my primary internal hard drive to my second internal hard drive that contains a folder containing files with the same name than in the source folder, Nautilus prompts Merge folder folder1?. I check Apply this action to all files and click Merge. And now, Nautilus overwrites files with the same name in the destination folder instead of prompting me if I want to skip copying existing files. I have the same problem when copying a folder to an external hard drive. This problem doesn't occur in Ubuntu 12.10 that I was using a few days ago before upgrading to 13.10. It doesn't occur neither when merging folders on the same hard drive. It only happens when the source folder and the destination folder are on two different hard drives. [Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
Affects me. Panasonic CF-52 upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 After playing a bit found out: Unable to set Alt-Shift. Also could set Shift-Alt !!??? in settings After setting Shift -Alt could not switch with Al-Shift. Fianlly could use combination but in a very unconvenient way: press Shift, Press Alt, Unpress Shift, Unpress Alt. I take it there is a big issue with reading key codes and ordering. Combination supposed to work either way. Hope this bug will be resolved soon. Thanks. isotope -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-keyboard/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1241811] Re: USB disk not automatically mounted after upgrade to 13.10
Unfortunately, it happens again. So it's seems is sort of random. Sometime it works, sometime not. If it works one time it works for all the session (at least).
