[Bug 152279] Re: [Gutsy] Totem gets aspect ratio wrong

2014-08-19 Thread Lee Willis
This issues affects me. I'm on latest of all packages, and playing
videos on a rotated screen and the aspect ratio is screwed. Playing
videos on my normal laptop LCD is fine. I'll go through the history now
and provide any info that's been asked for. If there's anything else
anyone needs to identify the cause of this bug - happy to provide
further diagnostics.

[Bug 1344386] Re: Do.exe crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()

2014-08-19 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hm, thanks.

This seems to be triggered by a change to GMutex in glib 2.14.2 (good
work on the bugfix release, guys ☺). I'll see if I can hunt down what's
releasing the mutex glib thinks isn't held. I used to be able to get
decent backtraces out of Mono!

[Bug 1113420] Re: Alt+key window menu shortcuts cannot be disabled

2014-08-19 Thread Guillaume Wenzek
I found a work around in ubuntu forum :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1735533

*** quote ***
To disable mnemonics you should create (if it doesn't already exist)
~/.gtkrc-2.0. This file should contain the line gtk-enable- mnemonics = 0
(you can add other GTK settings if you'd like). Then, restart for the changes
to take effect (you may be able to log out then log in instead).
***

I don't know what are mnemonics, and it might depends on which version
of gtk your application is using.

[Bug 1344386] Re: Do.exe crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()

2014-08-19 Thread Ryan Lortie
GLib completely changed the implementation of GMutex from being based on
POSIX primatives to being based on a home-grown solution that is
substantially faster (and with room for further improvements).

This caused deadlocks/crashes in some Vala programs, and I wonder if the
same thing is going on with Mono. See this bug:

On stderr, the following is printed

this is an abort() within glib - it's what RAOF alluded to in comment

[Bug 1356046] Re: Editing of bookmark name stops after pressing right alt

2014-08-19 Thread Saheel Godhane
For me, any character typed in upper case stops the editing, and
instead, brings the focus back to the main window and starts a search-
as-you-type search (with the upper case character as the first letter in
the search text). I use Dvorak keybord layout.

The Right-Alt key does not do anything for me. Perhaps it's specific to
the Polish keyboard layout you are using? But certainly, the bug is
triggered by more than just the diacritic characters.

** Summary changed:

- Editing of bookmark name stops after pressing right alt
+ Renaming bookmarks in Nautilus sidebar stops after pressing certain characters

** Description changed:

- Users are unable to make bookmarks in Nautilus using diacritic
- characters in their own language.
+ Users are unable to rename bookmarks in Nautilus using names with
+ certain characters (such as diacritic characters or upper case letters).

  Steps to reproduce:

  - Make a bookmark (CTRL+D) of current location
  - Right click on the bookmark and click Rename
- - Try to type in the name. After trying to enter polish letter ł (ALT+L)
editing stops. Editing stops right after pressing right ALT.
+ - Try to type in the name using the polish letter ł (ALT+L) or a R
(SHIFT+R). (Editing stops right after pressing right ALT in the former case,
whereas you need to press both the keys in the latter.)

[Bug 1358918] [NEW] ubuntu-location-serviced cpu usage spikes to 100% occasionally

2014-08-19 Thread Thomas Voß
Public bug reported:

Occasionally, users report the location service daemon CPU usage to
spike and occupy an entire core of the system. Up until now, we have no
way of reliably reproducing the issue. If you encounter it, please do
the following:

  * Report the output of /system/bin/logcat on this bug
  * If possible, attach to the location service daemon process with:
 * sudo gdb -p ${PID_OF_LOCATION_SERVICE_DAEMON}
 * Call generate-core-file inside gdb
 * Attach the resuling core.${PID_OF_LOCATION_SERVICE_DAEMON} to this
bug report

[Bug 1243806] Re: The names column has its width dictated by other columns

2014-08-19 Thread Jim Taller
I confirm this problem is still with us in 14.04. Just to clarify, the problem
occurs not just when the combined length of data in all columns is as wide as
the frame of teh nautilus. I see it when some columns have space beyond the
data they hold and still can not resize the columns.
So we have two cases.
1.
When the data of all columns is narrow enough.
You do not care that you can not resize the columns. However in this case it is
not huge problem because you can see all the data.
2.
When the data of all columns is so long that it does not fit.
Example is when you search for data and the path is long and so as pointed out
by Mario so eloquently you see:
instead file name and path you get:
fi. /home/smith/class2014/this/that
fi. /home/smith/class2013/blah/.
fi. /home/smith/class2012/so/and
and this is the situation when it hurts a lot.
thank you for listening

[Bug 1344386] Re: Do.exe crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()

2014-08-19 Thread Ryan Lortie
The new mutex implementation detects the (error) case when you try to
unlock a mutex that is not locked.

Callers are supposed to acquire the Gtk lock before calling gtk_main()
and I guess gnome-do isn't doing that...

POSIX silently ignores this...
