[Bug 1381897] [NEW] Evince will not zoom in with shortcut key in 14.10 Release Candidate?

2014-10-16 Thread Jeff S
Public bug reported:

Evince shortcut key for zoom-in does not work after I upgraded to 14.10
Release Candidate. I am running an AsusUx301LA with everything upgraded
on 14.10 and this still happens. At one point I got it to zoom in with
Fn++ but Ctrl++ has never worked. Now Fn++ is never working.

Let me know if any other info is needed.

[Bug 1236619] Re: gvfs smb / cifs file copy performance is terribly slow

2014-10-16 Thread Marcello Romani
I have experienced this bug on two Ubuntu desktop 12.04.5 x64 systems, copying
to a debian 7 / samba 3.6 share.
I haven't tried other OS versions though.

Steps to reproduce:

Open remote share so it gets gvfs-mounted under ~/.gvfs
cd ~
cd .gvfs/path/to/remote/samba/share
cp ~/huge_file .

Speed: roughly 5.5 Mbyte/s

sudo mount /remote/samba/share /mnt
cp ~/huge_file /mnt/

Speed: roughly maxes out wire.

Oddly enough, copying ~/huge_file to the same remote samba share _with
Nautilus_ maxes out the wire too.

So it appears to be an issue with cp and gvfs.

[Bug 1381897] Re: Evince will not zoom in with shortcut key in 14.10 Release Candidate?

2014-10-16 Thread Jeff S
I realized the issue is that I actually have to hit Ctrl+Shift+= aka
Ctrl++. I swore I always just used to hit Ctrl+= and it would zoom in.
Anyway to get this functionality back.

I use a standard American(USA) laptop keyboard with a function key. It's
an Asus UX302LA laptop.

you need shift to compose it, we should add ctrl-= as well to avoid

[Bug 1381804] Re: whoopsie test failure since glib2.0 2.41.2-1 uploaded

2014-10-16 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Posting on behalf of Ryan, who cannot log in right now.

He found out that the problem is in the test case itself. It uses
g_main_loop_quit() as a source callback from
test_callback_never_triggered. Source callbacks are supposed to return
bool for if they get issued again or not. Apparently on amd64 we
randomly end up with 0 in the return value register so the source
function gets unregistered. On x386 it's random junk, so the callback
gets run again, with the already freed mainloop.

Also, g_timeout_add_seconds (0.5) is bogus - the first argument is a
uint. Please change that to g_timeout_add(500).

[Bug 1382046] [NEW] libvirt-bin unaware of uids on LDAP when started via systemd

2014-10-16 Thread Harald Hannelius
Public bug reported:

I was unable to connect to libvirtd from my regular user account after
upgrading to Utopic Unicorn.

The error from 'virsh list' was something about that libvirtd couldn't
resolve my uid. failed to find user record for uid I think.

Since I have all non-system users on LDAP remotely, I suspect that
systemd and/or libvirtd was unable to a resolve my uid upon startup and
didn't bother to check again.

It might be a bug in libvirt-bin as well. I don't know.

Tempfix: 'service libvirt-bin restart' and one should be able to connect
again.

2014-10-16 Thread Martin Pitt
That description is a bit vague. Maybe for someone familiar with libvirt
it's enough, but can you please precisely describe the steps that you
did and the output? Thanks!

Confirming, that is with init=/bin/systemd or systemd-sysv, not with
booting with upstart (the only supported init system in Ubuntu right
now)?

[Bug 1382066] [NEW] Drop sleep for GPS hardware before launching location-service

2014-10-16 Thread Loïc Minier
Public bug reported:

(This is a tracking bug)

When Android GPS device / GPS hardware is accessed too early, it
sometimes gets confused on krillin/mako.

To workaround this, location-service upstart job shipped in lxc-android-
config sleeps for 10 seconds before startup.

This is obviously an ugly workaround, and we ought to fix this properly
in the GPS stack.

[Bug 1159724] Re: Error setting extended attribute 'xdg.origin.url' while saving a duplicate

2014-10-16 Thread Dawid M.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1096837 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1096837

Same here on Xubuntu 14.04 as well as Linux Mint 17 XFCE. The other
downside of this error is that is you are moving files, it causes the
affected originals to not be deleted, meaning you have to go back to the
source directory and delete them manually.

There is no need for save button. If you changed type to none is dconf-

have more then 4 panels. Did you changed that setting for all panels?

Have you tried to login in session after changing background to none?

When you try to launch gnome-panel do this:
 1) Open gnome-terminal (/usr/bin/gnome-terminal) not gnome-panel
 2) Then type in this command:
 gnome-panel --replace

You may need to do it multiple times as --replace command does not work
like it should. Running gnome-panel from terminal will allow you to see
 error/warning messages.

Sorry, it has taken me all this time to do the abovebut I'm a little
worried now, as I see another login [user] and not mine anymore..or
have changed my user name...as things on the desktop look the
same...makes me very nervous.

This is what gnome-terminal reported:

Sorry to say, but after the things suggested my 14.04 system is now
still unstable - in different ways than before. I also don't understand
under what username I am recognized and signed in. About half of the
time I click on something on the panels the panels all disappear now. I
can open a terminal, enter nautilus, and all re-appears; but they will
all soon disappear when closing a window or doing something. As is, it
is unusable and I'm back in 12.04

Again, I'm not sure if I ever made a new user or renamed mine and don't
quite know how to find out. Is there any way to repair my system?
