[Bug 1387949] [NEW] power cycling BT device caused phone to reboot

2014-10-31 Thread Selene Scriven
Public bug reported:

While sanity testing krillin rtm image 139, I paired a bluetooth
headset. I made a call with it, hung up, then turned the headset off.
I noticed this caused the BT indicator icon to invert, which is a nice
way to indicate whether something is connected. So, I turned the device
back on, waited for the icon to invert, turned the device off, waited,
and instead of inverting the icon... the phone rebooted.

Not sure what exactly failed here, like which component, but it's
definitely not good when a paired headset can cause the phone to
spontaneously reboot.

I don't see any relevant .crash files, and all I see in syslog from that
time is this:

[Bug 740506]

2014-10-31 Thread xormar
Hi all

Funding is all very well, and +1 for the initiative!

But first we'll need to find developers who are willing to take up the
task.

Is there anyone interested in implementing this (immensely important,
believe me!) feature? Can we spur his or her interest with money?

Or can we say that allowing this functionality to exist in one closed-
source vendor's application alone is tantamount to having your passports
checked at the border by a representative of a commercial enterprise,
who does not tell you by what criteria it checks the document, bit still
is entitled to deny you admission?

We did a fundraiser (http://wilhelmtux.ch/?MID=11PID=96) recently for
finishing the implementation of the *signing* part in LibreOffice, which
is also in C++ and uses Mozilla NSS. So maybe some of the code can be
reused. Most of the original code should be available here:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=9c8dc01d3a40ec905c9d816c733ceb5d621e0426

Search by author should also work:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?qt=authorq=eraslan

As this is still work in progress, please follow
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83940 for updates.

[Bug 1243806] Re: The names column has its width dictated by other columns

2014-10-31 Thread ZaZy
I regret to say that the patch solves the problem only in part. Now there is a
lower bound for column width that lets a scrollbar appear but when managing
long filename the problem is still there: no way to read the whole filename.
The status bar still not help because it put ellipsis in the middle of
filename. The ONLY solution here is the one that let the filname column to
expand as wide as I need it, allowing scrollbar to appear. The same should be
told for foldername column.
In the attached image I try to expand the Filename (Nome in italian) column but
the sum of all columns width is limited to the available space.

You mean that you disable the Google Calendar, and then when you reopen

[Bug 1388204] [NEW] after inserting with kbdString/kbd+kbdv/kbd static cursor and mouse disappearing, moving cursor and mouse only partly visible

2014-10-31 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

Writing anything in `gedit` works fine until I invoke
kdbStrg/kbd+kbdv/kbd for inserting text. After the insert action
which works fine the mouse disappears and is only visible when moved.
The visibility when moved is very poor (only ~4 updates per second which
makes a very unsteady picture). From time to time the cursor is affected
as well with the exact same problem (invisible when not moving and only
badly visible when moved (with keyboard arrows)).

[Bug 1380848] Re: Apps and services use large amount of CPU after unity8 resets

2014-10-31 Thread Thomas Voß
I will try to come up with a distilled down test case illustrating that
libdbus-cpp is not the cause but a symptom of the issue. Point being
that it certainly shows up in the stack traces, but it sits waiting in
all of them (specifically for the system settings crash).

[Bug 1282151] Re: evince won't open PDF files other readers can handle

2014-10-31 Thread Cecil Carpenter
Something happened to my text when I clicked on Add an attachment, but
the above document is something that evince in 14.04.1 x64 cannot
handle. I could read it in 12.04.5 x64 with Adobe Reader but not with
evince. So I have a number of PDF documents that I cannot read since I
have upgraded because Adobe has abandoned Linux. Try to open it and you
will get a white screen with the following:

To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF
viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from
www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html

I am on 14.04.1 x64 with evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1 and poppler-utils
0.24.5-2ubuntu4.

[Bug 1388259] [NEW] gnome-keyring SRU breaks ECDSA keys

2014-10-31 Thread Ross Younger
Public bug reported:

Previously I had been using ssh-add with ECDSA keys. (OpenSSH_6.6.1p1
Ubuntu-2ubuntu2, OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014)
After my system updated to gnome-keyring 3.10.1-1ubuntu4.1 (picking up the fix
for #1271591) they stopped working:

wry@onyx:~$ ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_ecdsa
Enter passphrase for /home/wry/.ssh/id_ecdsa:
Error reading response length from authentication socket.
Could not add identity: /home/wry/.ssh/id_ecdsa

Downgrading to gnome-keyring 3.10.1-1ubuntu4 resolves the issue.

This appears to be because gnome-keyring does not support ECDSA.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=641082 refers.

This means that the fix for #1271591 is an overall system regression for
anybody who uses ECDSA keys.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04

[Bug 1388267] [NEW] Main screen zoom widget doesn't work

2014-10-31 Thread ToZ
Public bug reported:

Xubuntu 14.10, evince 3.14.1-0ubuntu1

The zoom widget on the main screen does not work. Clicking the arrow
icon does not drop down a list of zoom values like it did in the
previous version. Zooming from the main screen is impossible.

As a workaround, zoom from the View menu (and associated keyboard
shortcuts) still work.

[Bug 1339820] Re: Preventing fraudulent flash memory

2014-10-31 Thread Jeb E.
It **is** valid. If enough testing is done on these fake, unauthorized
chipsets, the easier it will be for an instant fake or broken status
to pop up on the screen to alert the user before continuing, bringing
education of fake NAND/FLASH memory to the publics' eyes and hopefully
alarming OEMs to crack down on these fake chipsets harming their brands.
The more information in the database (with consent of the users, of
course), the better and quicker. And adding the BadBlacks program and
list of faulty chipsets will even further improve reliability of
catching a bad chipset before it's too late.
