[Bug 1374505] Re: auto-rotate and center option ignored

2014-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eva Myers, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping
to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been
fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Vivid Vervet.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[Bug 1021581] [NEW] When printing large PDF documents evince sends incomplete output

2014-12-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When trying to print a PDF document containing many pages (e.g. 15)
printing is impossible using either Adobe Reader or Evince.

When trying to print the whole document with Evince, the printer only feeds a
single paper but doesn't print anything onto it.
When trying to print the whole document with AR, the printer symbol appears for
a second and then disappears. Printing queue shows no jobs.

Printing only one page from the same document works!

Not sure if I chose the right package to report this bug.

My printer is Brother DCP-395CN.

[Bug 758811] Re: Weird scrolling with PDF containing differently sized pages

2014-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: evince

- I'm hitting a weird bug with Evince.
+ 1) lsb_release -rd
+ Description: Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch)
+ Release: 15.04

- I'm opening the attached PDF and maximise the window. Fit Width and
- Continous are selected. I scrolled down very quickly by holding down the
- Page down key. It eventually loops (sic!) between page 6 and 7. I can
- hold the key Page down key forever and it'll keep looping. I cannot
- scroll down. Same problem exists if I slowly press the page down key.
- Same thing for space. It works using the down arrow though. Note that
- page 7 has different dimensions.
+ 2) apt-cache policy evince libcairo2 libpoppler[0-9]
+ evince:
+ Installed: 3.14.1-0ubuntu1
+ Candidate: 3.14.1-0ubuntu1

- This issue is quite reproducable. Not always though.
+ 3) What is expected to happen with
+ https://launchpadlibrarian.net/69136251/Gnome3BluePoster-a0.pdf is when
+ one views this maximized, goes to page 9, then holds the PgUp button, it
+ pages up to the first page.
+
+ 4) What happens instead is it gets stuck on page 7, scrolls to 8
+ briefly, goes back to 7, and cycles through this in perpetuity.

evince 3.10.3

Answer from gnome bugzilla forum:

José Aliste [evince developer] 2014-05-21 13:49:53 UTC
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

This is no Evince Bug. It looks like poppler can't access to this font, but
normally this means that the font is nos properly installed, which would be
a
distribution bug. So in summary, first make sure the font is correctly
installed and if so, then file a bug in poppler's bugzilla.

Update:

It looks properly installed according to what I get from this shell prompt
excerpt as a normal user:
  $ ls -l
/usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyreheros-regular.otf
  -rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 133600 Nov 3 2009
/usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyreheros-regular.otf
  $ wc
/usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyreheros-regular.otf
2160 2926 133600
/usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyreheros-regular.otf
  $

I also tried replacing this file with fonts found on
www.fontspace.com/gust-e-foundry/texgyreheros and got the same problem.

[Bug 1337956] Re: Evince can't print guillemets sometimes

2014-12-26 Thread poglaz
Christopher, unfortunately, this bug is still reproducible. I've just
downloaded example file I attached, printed it, and paper result is the
same as scan I've attached before.

I use Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and Evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1 (full output
about versions attached).

Another interesting point is I've changed my printer since time of first
report - and printed result is still the same. I used Canon MG3540 and
now it's Ricoh SP 202SN

poglaz, just to clarify, can still open the PDF via LibreOffice Draw,
print, and it prints as expected?

If not, would the built-in PDF viewer from either Firefox, or
Chromium/Chrome allow a print as expected?

[Bug 1337956] Re: Evince can't print guillemets sometimes

2014-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

- Steps to reproduce:
+ What is expected to happen is when one opens
+ https://launchpadlibrarian.net/179309521/example.pdf in Evince and
+ prints to either a Canon Pixma MG3540 or a Ricoh SP 202SN, it prints
+ correctly.

- 1. Open the file attached in Evince
- 2. Print it
+ What happens instead is it is missing certain characters as noted in
+ screenshot https://launchpadlibrarian.net/179309843/scan.jpg .

- File is printed correctly except guillemets in string next after big
- string in bold. In printed document there are rectangles instead of this
- two symbols: « » Rectangles look like a kind of replace for non-
- printing characters.
-
- Additional information:
-
- 1. The same file opened in LibreOffice Draw is printed correctly.
- 2. Some other files with guillemets can be printed correctly even in Evince.
- 3. All files with guillemets are displayed on screen correctly in both Evince
and Draw
-
- My printer is Canon Pixma MG3540
+ WORKAROUND: Print via LibreOffice Draw.

[Bug 565967] Re: Repeated form fields are not propagated

2014-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
manuel, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to
make Ubuntu better. However, regarding steps 1-7 (not 8), I am closing
it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of
Ubuntu - Vivid Vervet.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[1]: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure

Regarding step 8, this is a separate issue, necessitating a separate
report.

[Bug 1405818] [NEW] Keyboard layout switch in text inputs cancels the input

2014-12-26 Thread Mike
Public bug reported:

Hello.

Having two layout setup, input controls in different places (email text
in Chrome, new folder naming upon creation) cancels the input like if I
press Esc.

I tried different hotkeys for switching: Caps Lock, Ctrl+Shift,
Alt+Shift. They all produce the same effect.

I didn't see any suspicious output of evdev though.

This is another problem to the box of layout switching problems. I don't
know if they're related, but they all appear together with Ubuntu 14.04
I think. (First, I couldn't setup Caps Lock, and it is still not smooth
enough. Switching is not instantaneous, so I have to wait a second or
such until it will actually switch. Sometimes Caps Lock doesn't switch
the layout, but locks caps).

[Bug 1386120] Re: evince and evince-thumbnailer stuck with high cpu load

2014-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Walter Garcia-Fontes, thanks for the response. It would be best if we spun your
document into a new bug report you filed via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug evince

so this bug report may focus on the original reporter, and his yet to be
attached document.

As well, I tested the document you attached, regarding the scope of this
report Evince getting stuck at high CPU load this is not reproducible
in either Trusty or Vivid. When using compiz based session, it briefly
(a handful of seconds) consumes 1/4 cores, then goes right back down
while scrolling through the document. When using a metacity based one,
it doesn't spike at all.

[Bug 891427] Re: Evince's behavoir has changed, now more cumbersome

2014-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

Open the current file manager in 11.10. Hit F3 to split the screen.
Make sure breadcrumbs are visible along the top of the window. In the
split pane that *doesn't* have focus, try to change the directory up one
level by clicking on the bread crumbs. It won't work.. you have to have
focus in that pane to actually change the directory there. Previous
Ubuntu releases did not behave that way.
-
- Evince is also not found in Alt+F2 by typing evince.. It has to be
- Evince.. Filemanager or filemanager also brings up nothing.

** Package changed: evince (Ubuntu) = ubuntu

** Summary changed:

- Evince's behavoir has changed, now more cumbersome

2014-12-26 Thread garypeg
Add me to the list of those effected. I have to go through quite the
rigamarole to get it working

1) in terminal sudo pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
2) blueman- setup, choose A2DP
3) PAVU- select A2DP
4) Then I select the device with the volume/sound settings.

14.04 with all the latest updates. I hope this issue can be addressed. Thanks!
