[Bug 1296275] Re: PTP Cameras not working on 14.04, works flawlessly on 12.04

2015-01-19 Thread wayneoutthere
I've tried pretty much everything I can above. I've checked the #44
above and done it and besides that the packge looked correct anyways
before I opened it. The computer was updated fully before trying. It
seems this bug is connected to just Canon now as the reports above seem
to fix the others.

here is the link to the paste of the command line stuff from the
machine: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9789752/

the exact model number is the Canon SX20 IS as per Robert above.

version is 14.04 fully up to date on 64 bit machine

Anything else i can do to help you resolve this would be awesome as my
mom is not liking using the SD card removal each time. This worked
perfectly before the upgrade to 14.04.

Thanks!

[Bug 1412592] [NEW] The default handler is not stored in the file $XDG_DATA_HOME/applications/mimeapps.list.

2015-01-19 Thread Christopher Yeleighton
Public bug reported:

Contrary to what the manual page for gvfs-open says, the default handler
is not stored per-user, in the file
$XDG_DATA_HOME/applications/mimeapps.list; that file does not exist.

[Bug 1412624] [NEW] Fix from bug 1271591 breaks uses of ssh-agent

2015-01-19 Thread David Lechner
Public bug reported:

For those of us that don't want to use gnome-keyring-ssh and use ssh-
agent instead, the changes to fix bug #1271591 prevent us from doing so.

Previously, we were able to disable gnome-keyring-ssh by ediing
/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop and setting
NoDisplay=false. Then it would be visible in Startup Applications
Preferences and you could turn it off. (For mre details and screenshots,
see https://github.com/dlech/KeeAgent/issues/89#issuecomment-63449092)

However, now even though gnome-keyring-ssh is disabled at startup, these
new changes cause it to run anyway. What is the new way to disable
gnome-keyring-ssh?

[Bug 1412631] [NEW] Nautilus fails to start

2015-01-19 Thread Marc Bagnol
Public bug reported:

After a recent update, nautilus randomly refuses to start. Clicking on
the 'home' button in the unity bar results in blinking for a while, then
nothing. Trying to launch from a terminal does not give any information
(it just hangs).

By the way, I noticed that when this happens I am unable to close my
session to avoid a complete reboot. (which is the only way I can get
around this bug for the moment)

It may happen that after a while (2/3 min) the issue resolves itslef.

Ubuntu: 14.04.1 LTS
nautilus: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.4

I understand these are very few information, so please someone let me
know how to collect more info when this happens.

[Bug 445333] Re: remember password on printing to windows printers does not work

2015-01-19 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
The upstream gtk is considering backporting this change to gtk2: [1]

What I find most important in the description is:
With regards to the importance of having this only fixed in GTK 3. To be
honest, as long as firefox still uses GTK 2 in most distributions this fix is
more important for our users to have in GTK 2 then it is in GTK 3 :-/

This remains true for Ubuntu as well.

2015-01-19 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1401917] Re: GVFS Samba mounts time out after inactivity

2015-01-19 Thread Yvan Masson
This is interesting to know that gvfs does not do this SMB Echo Request...
That is a pity, because gvfs is as simple as the net use command on Windows,
and uses the Kerberos ticket, so it is a very interesting tool for companies
trying to migrate to Ubuntu for desktops.

Currently, as a workaround, I did a small bash script that does exactly
this (with the ls command) and which I run after user login :

#!/bin/bash
cd /run/user/$UID/gvfs/
while true
do
for i in ./smb* ; do
if [ -d $i ]; then
ls $(basename $i)/ /dev/null
fi
done
sleep 120
done

[Bug 1379375] Re: evince does not display ligatures

2015-01-19 Thread Iain Lane
The patch seemed to work for me on utopic, so I uploaded a stable
update. Please check once you get a call for testing via this bug.

** Description changed:

- While there's Bug #1325230 with the same title and the linked PDFs there are
working fine here (displaying fi correctly) there seems to be still some bug
regarding ligatures.
+ [ Description ]
+
+ Some ligatures (e.g. fi) are not displayed in certain fonts, because
+ there are two different naming schemes in use in the wild.
+
+ [ Fix ]
+
+ Poppler upstream fixed this by adding a lookup table to fall back to the
+ second scheme if necessary.
+
+ [ QA ]
+
+ 1. Install tex-gyre
+ 2. Download
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1317599/+attachment/4213588/+files/rfa1415_15sep_lect1.pdf
+ 3. Open the file in evince
+ 4. Look at Biometrics: file on page 3
+
+ If the fi ligature in file is not displayed, you have this bug.
+ file should be displayed normally after it's fixed.
+
+ [ Regression potential ]
+
+ Since this patch implements a fallback only when lookup false, there
+ shouldn't be any problems. Still, check all existing PDFs are still
+ displayed correctly.
+
+ [ Original report ]
+
+ While there's Bug #1325230 with the same title and the linked PDFs there are
working fine here (displaying fi correctly) there seems to be still some bug
regarding ligatures.
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1325230

I have some PDFs substituting Helvetica (and others) with TeX Gyre Heros
and showing no fi ligature. I attached a patch I derived from the
patch in Bug #1325230 which is working fine. Now it uses Nimbus Sans L
  and the ligatures are fine.

[Bug 1307793] Re: 14.04 rhythmbox freezes when going backwards a song (.m4a).

2015-01-19 Thread Matthew Sweet
I am also able to reproduce this issue. I was unable to find any updated
bug threads, so apologies in advance for a depracated update to this
report.

The .m4a files in question all came from YouTube, via youtube-dl. I also
cannot duplicate the issue with .mp3 files.

1) Output of 'lsb_release -rd':
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Release:14.04

2) Package version via 'apt-cache policy rhythmbox'
rhythmbox:
  Installed: 3.0.2-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 3.0.2-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 3.0.2-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.0.2-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages

3) What you expected to happen
Scroll forward in time via slider, advancing further into .m4a track

4) What happened instead
Rhythmbox becomes unresponsive and Ubuntu prompts to wait or kill. I've waited
for several minutes with no luck. Killing the program and restarting is the
only way to recover.

Note: It appears Videos is experiencing the same issue when playing .m4a
files taken from YouTube; which makes me wonder if the problem is
exclusive to YouTube or youtube-dl.
