[Bug 1728045] Re: Please restore battery time remaining to top bar!

2017-12-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Because Gnome 2.x and Gnome 3.x are effectively different products with
different designs. It may be unhelpful if the old discussion there no
longer applies to the current design.

But actually on second thoughts, it wouldn't be the first time someone
picked up an old gnome 2.x bug and fixed it in 3.x, so restoring the
link...

[Bug 1713021] Re: Minimize/unminimize animations do nothing for the first 100ms or so

In theory that should never happen... If a machine is no longer able to
provide adequate performance then the animation should be 0-1 frames
long instead. But thanks -- that's an interesting observation that
probably also needs fixing. Probably with a separate bug.

I don't understand why you unlinked the GNOME bug. This has been an
issue since GNOME 2 and remains an issue in GNOME 3.

[Bug 1738815] [NEW] external monitor shuts off when laptop lid is closed

2017-12-18 Thread Harish
Public bug reported:

As the title suggests, the external monitor shuts off when laptop lid
closes. I believe the laptop goes into suspend mode. The correct
behaviour would be to disable the suspend function when an external
monitor is connected.

I further observed that the correct behaviour happens on a fresh login
and this persists after login. However, if I unplug the external monitor
and close the laptop lid, then reopen the lid and replug the monitor,
the problem starts again-- the external monitor shuts off when laptop
lid is closed.

The problem is fixed when I log out and re-login. However, if I repeat
the above, the problem starts again. Very frustrating indeed!

I am using ubuntu 17.10 desktop.

Please note that this bug has been fixed upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=788915

Are there any chances that this fix will make it through to ubuntu
updates in near future?

[Bug 1738676] Re: With natural scrolling, horizontal sliders behave backwards

2017-12-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

A colleague of me had the same issue in Arch Linux half a year ago. Always good
