[Bug 1754816] [NEW] Gnome: Under "universal access", trying to turn screen keyboard on doesn't do anything

2018-03-09 Thread Ken T
Public bug reported:

(As seen in the latest daily build of 32bit Ubuntu Budgie)

Under "universal access", various features work as expected (e.g turning
on high contrast, or large text). However, pressing the toggle button
for the on-screen keyboard has no effect.

Please note that another Ubuntu Budgie user has noticed this issue also
- see comment #5 from Bug #1687900, dated 6th October 2017.

Further, this bug is possibly related to Bug #1726453.

Thanks,
Ken.

[Bug 1754813] [NEW] Software: searching for programs / packages doesn't work

2018-03-09 Thread Ken T
Public bug reported:

(As seen in Software v3.27.92, as present in the latest daily build of
32bit Ubuntu Budgie)

Searching for various programs (Gimp, Kazaam, Abiword, Blender) does not
find the program - "no application found".

Searching for Firefox only returns a Gnome-shell extension called
"Search Firefox Bookmarks Provider".

[Bug 1754812] [NEW] Software: default categories displaying very few entries

2018-03-09 Thread Ken T
Public bug reported:

(As seen in Software v3.27.92, as present in the latest daily build of
32bit Ubuntu Budgie for 18.04).

With "All" selected by default at the top of the screen, clicking on any
of the buttons for software categories (productivity, communication &
news, etc) reveals only a handful of entries, when there are usually
truckloads of them. See attached screenshot as an example.

However, clicking on "Installed" software shows 53 entries, so at least
that seems to be working OK.

Thanks,
Ken.

[Bug 1754809] [NEW] single click not working for "move/copy file context functions" of nautilus

2018-03-09 Thread Michael Kuster
Public bug reported:

"Single click" not working for "move/copy file context functions" of nautilus.

Recentely I switched to the "Single click" mode of nautilus and this was
the right decision. Works like a charme, BUT not if you right click a
file an select "copy to" or "move to" functionalety.

That's less of a bug than an inconsistence of the concept of the "Single
click mode".

Strangely, as root added with xhost, there's no problem.

Hope it may help.

[Bug 1753884] [NEW] session logout after suspend

2018-03-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Only when I have a second monitor plugged in, if I close the lid of my
laptop, my session gets logged out. What I'm expecting is the lock
screen comes up.

Sometimes (but not always) the second monitor will flash the "logged
out" screen for a second or two before going dim.

I have "Suspend even if external monitor is plugged in" enabled in Tweak
Tools.

WORKAROUND: Suspend via the GUI with the lid open.

WORKAROUND: Unplug the second monitor before closing the lid.

[Bug 1754702] Re: input method on-screen animation prevents typing

2018-03-09 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your report. Changing affected package to gnome-control-
center.

I recall . From the discussion there we
found that the input source chooser doesn't show up if you use some
alternative shortcut for switching input sources, but the delay during
which you can't type is still there.

There is which might be a duplicate
bug, but I don't mark it as such since I'm not sure.

** Package changed: language-selector (Ubuntu) => gnome-control-center
(Ubuntu)

[Bug 1754702] [NEW] input method on-screen animation prevents typing

2018-03-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In ubuntu 18.04 I installed different keyboard languages: spanish latin
american, japanese, japanese-ibus. To change the input method you press
the selected key, and an indicator menu appears on-screen to indicate
which language is selected next. The menu disapears after 2~3 seconds
and during which time typing is blocked. If you type while the language
input method menu is displayed, the menu will not disapear and stay as
long as you type.

The language input menu should not block typing, and the disapearance of
the menu should not be delayed by typing.

[Bug 1754169] Re: [Bionic] [wayland] Nautilus crashes when a file is opened

2018-03-09 Thread amano
Even opening archives with File Roller makes Nautilus 3.26.2 crash. So
it cannot be a gedit problem.

I edited the title to reflect that.

So all gnome apps make Nautilus crash (in fact opening the file makes
Nautilus and the other program crash) while LibreOffice obviously
doensn't. What makes opening a file with LibreOffice different.

I wonder if reverting to 3.26.0 would be a good idea? It potentially resolves
the problem and the stable branch doesn't add anything too interesting to
Nautilus 3.26.

If the problem persists another package update probably causes the
problem. So we know at least...

[Bug 1754169] Re: [Bionic] [wayland] Nautilus crashes when a file is opened

2018-03-09 Thread amano
** Summary changed:

- [Bionic] [wayland] Nautilus crashes when a file is opened with gedit
+ [Bionic] [wayland] Nautilus crashes when a file is opened

** Description changed:

  See title.

  ==Steps to reproduce==
  0) From the log in screen, click your name, then click the gear button and
select Ubuntu on Wayland. Log in.
  1) Open nautilus (currently 3.26.2 in bionic)
- 2) Browse to a location with a textfile (eg. /home/user/.thunderbird )
- 3) Right click a textfile (eg. profiles.ini)
- 4) Choose gedit from the list (probably default), click ok.
- 5) Nautilus crashes, gedit doesn't come up
+ 2) Browse to a location with a textfile or an archive (eg.
/home/user/.thunderbird )
+ 3) Right click a textfile or an archive (eg. profiles.ini)
+ 4) Choose gedit or File Roller from the list, click ok.
+ 5) Nautilus crashes, gedit or File Roller don't come up

  ==Expected result==
- Nautilus doesn't crash, gedit comes up and lets you edit the file
+ Nautilus doesn't crash, gedit or File Roller come up and let you view the file

- ==Why (probably) a gedit regression==
+ ==The reason I initially thought it was a gedit regression==
When choosing LibreOffice Nautilus doesn't crash and LibreOffice opens the
file.
+
+ ==Why certainly a Nautilus regression==
+ Not only opening gedit causes a crash but also opening an archive with File
Roller.
+

[Bug 1695607] Re: Killed Wine application still shown in Gnome launcher

2018-03-09 Thread Andreas E.
This was still the case in Ubuntu 17.10 (I'll be able to retest and
submit new logs soon).

- The zombie Wine icons clutter the Gnome Shell launcher and app switcher until
there is no space
- Moreover Wine leaves the window manager in a really messy state so that
Alt-Tab does not trigger app switching in Gnome Shell (and in Unity, windows
were placed on top of the shell/launcher/dash)

Work-around:
- close/loose all applications and restart the session (Wayland)
- restart window manager with Alt+F2 and type "r[enter]" (under Xorg)

Indeed, what Francoise is saying is true. If I click on any file in my

This is not problem of gedit.

[Bug 1753131] Re: gnome-shell crashes occasionally (libmutter)

2018-03-09 Thread Ralf Sternberg
It just happened again. There is no file in /var/crash, just the
aforementioned line in dmesg and also in /var/log/syslog.

It seems that everytime this crash happens I'm working with the Eclipse
IDE. I also find those lines in syslog which might be related:

java[30229]: Allocating size to GtkScrolledWindow 0x7fee4ab40de0
without calling gtk_widget_get_preferred_width/height(). How does the
code know the size to allocate?

Anything else I could do to track it down?

2018-03-09 Thread Francoise
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1754169 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754169

I don't think it is a duplicate of the gedit bug. Or maybe I have a
different and undeclared bug.

On Wayland (not X11), gnome or ubuntu, Nautilus crashes when clicking on
ANY file (mp3, avi, pdf, txt etc.), nautilus closes suddenly. Replicated
on two different instances of Bionic on the same PC. Both with nvidia
(nouveau driver).

Nemo works well.
It seems to be a problem with a recent version of Nautilus, since I have been
testing Bionic on Wayland for at least a month without noticing this quite
obvious problem.

My Bionic version was installed on March 8 (daily build iso with
updates).

[Bug 1754655] [NEW] Installing snap from command line confuses GNOME Software

2018-03-09 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Installing snaps from the command line (or any other client) causes the state
in GNOME Software to wrongly represented.

[Test Case]
1. Ensure you don't have moon-buggy installed
$ sudo snap remove moon-buggy
2. Start GNOME Software
3. Install moon-buggy from the command line:
$ sudo snap install moon-buggy
4. Search for "moon" in GNOME Software

Expected result:
Moon Buggy shows in search results as installed

Observed result:
Moon Buggy not returned in search results.

[Regression Potential]
Low, we fix a bug where were reading invalid metadata and a check that makes
stops unexpected (but valid) state notification from the snap plugin.

[Bug 1754643] [NEW] When importing config file, "key-direction" is ignored if it's after inline block.

2018-03-09 Thread Jan Zankowski
Public bug reported:

Affected software:
- lsb_release -rd: Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS
- apt-cache policy network-manager: Installed: 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
- apt-cache policy network-manager-openvpn: Installed: 1.1.93-1ubuntu1.1

Steps to reproduce:
1. Prepare an .ovpn config file of the form:

client
nobind
dev tun
remote-cert-tls server
remote 1.2.3.4 1194 udp

-BEGIN PRIVATE KEY-
[... some key here ...]
-END PRIVATE KEY-

-BEGIN CERTIFICATE-

-END CERTIFICATE-

#
# 2048 bit OpenVPN static key
#
-BEGIN OpenVPN Static key V1-
[... some key here ...]
-END OpenVPN Static key V1-

key-direction 1

2. Use Ubuntu network manager to import the file, using "Edit
Connections.." -> "Add" -> "Import a saved VPN configuration"

Result:
In resulting connection info window, in tab "VPN", after clicking on
"Advanced..." -> "TLS Authentication", the field "Key Direction" is set to
"None".

Expected result:
"Key Direction" is set to "1".

Notes:
- Moving the line "key-direction 1" above the inline , , etc
sections fixes the problem.
- Moving the line "remote 1.2.3.4 1194 udp" below the inline , , etc
sections still correctly sets the remote server address. So it seems that not
all directives are affected by this problem.
- Using the file as written above in 'openvpn --config file.ovpn' works fine.
- This bug made me waste about 2 hours trying to figure out why I was getting
"TLS handshake failed"...

Thank you very much for fixing.

[Bug 1754615] [NEW] Date display is confusing in month view (should be at the top, not at the bottom)

2018-03-09 Thread mbrennwa
Public bug reported:

In month view, the date (day of month) is shown at the bottom right of
the tiles representing each day. This is different from all other
calendars I am aware of. Since the grid lines between the tiles are
rather light and hardly visible on my screen, I keep getting confused
about which tile belongs to which day. I tend to think the appointments
belong to the date shown ABOVE them, not the data shown BELOW. I thought
I'd get used to this after a while, but that does not seem to work
(although I have tried it for months now). The result is that I keep
getting my appointments wrong with an offset of one week.

It would be so much better if the date would be shown at the TOP of the
tiles, so it would act as a "title" for the appointments that are shown
below it. This would conform to the scheme used with all other calendars
I am aware of.
