[Bug 1865170] Re: lid close simply turns off laptop screen
Sorry for the delay, I've been rather busy. I was finally able to try a newer build of the latest mainline tonight, so I just tried it. I tried using v5.6-rc4 but that failed to install, and it seems like v5.6-rc6 isn't building properly, so I went with v5.6-rc5. The issue actually seems worse. In the dmesg output attached, you can see that the desync is much more spread out. ~47s close laptop lid ~57s open laptop lid ~60s password entered (GNOME did lock) ~70s laptop goes to sleep ~84s I wake laptop using power button I'm having a few additional issues with my laptop that weren't quite happening out of the box, so I'm going to go ahead and do a full reinstall of my system -- I suspect I may have gone digging deep into some system configurations in my sleep. I'll do a full system backup before the reinstall, though, so that I can do further bug hunting, when I'm available?field.comment=Sorry for the delay, I've been rather busy. [Bug 1867668] Re: Visual artifacts in Gnome Shell after upgrading to 20.04
Thanks. I can see a couple of problems with the machine now, which could cause this bug: 1. You have the old 'intel' graphics driver enabled. That's no longer being maintained and should not be used, especially on newer hardware like yours. Please ensure your Xorg config files do not load the 'intel' driver and if in doubt just uninstall it: sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-video-intel You should be using the newer 'modesetting' driver which is also the default. 2. You have a number of extensions installed: b'org.gnome.shell' b'enabled-extensions' b"['donotdist...@kylecorry31.github.io', 'docker- integrat...@jan.trejbal.gmail.com', 'gsconn...@andyholmes.github.io', 'multi-monitors-add-on@spin83', 'custom-hot-corn...@janrunx.gmail.com', 'autohide-batt...@sitnik.ru', 'clipboard-indica...@tudmotu.com', 'openweather-extens...@jenslody.de', 'places-menu@gnome-shell- extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'sound-output-device- choo...@kgshank.net']" so if removing the intel graphics driver hasn't already fixed the bug then please try to uninstall all of those extensions. Yes uninstall and not just disable, because a disabled extension can still interfere with the shell. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867668 Title: Visual artifacts in Gnome Shell after upgrading to 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1867668/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1867766] Re: Namespace prefix sodipodi on namedview is not defined
I bet this is caused by this upstream change in librsvg: - Librsvg's XML parser now supports namespaces (xmlns), and is stricter than before about it. Files may fail to parse if there are attributes or elements with namespace prefixes (e.g. foo:bar instead of plain bar), but without a corresponding namespace declaration (e.g. xmlns:foo="http://example.com/foo;). This may happen especially with incorrectly-written SVGs that use xlink:href or xi:include attributes without the corresponding namespace declarations. If you run into this, just add the following to your toplevel SVG element: http://www.w3.org/2000/svg; xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink; xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude;> ^ these ones The nm-signal-*.svg icons in /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-light/status/22 use sodipodi: prefixed attributes (exported by inkscape) without the corresponding namespace declaration (http://sodipodi.sourceforge.net/DTD/sodipodi-0.dtd). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to librsvg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867766 Title: Namespace prefix sodipodi on namedview is not defined To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/librsvg/+bug/1867766/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1867758] [NEW] Gnome shell froze completely
Public bug reported: Gnome shell froze completely and would not respond to any mouse clicks or keyboard action. The mouse did move, but that's about it. [Bug 1867757] [NEW] Please pull Mutter cursor fixes for DisplayLink devices
Public bug reported: For GNOME/Wayland to use hardware cursors on DisplayLink devices (proprietary userspace driver for USB 3 devices), the following Mutter fixes should be included: Mutter 3.34 branch (tentatively 3.34.5): - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1116 Initialize cursor support on GPU hotplug (backport to 3.34) Mutter 3.36 (currently master) branch (tentatively 3.36.1): - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1079 Handle lack of explicit cursor planes better - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1097 Initialize cursor support on GPU hotplug Without "Initialize cursor support on GPU hotplug" performance on hotplugged DisplayLink devices that create a new DRM device node suffers, because Mutter uses a software cursor which implies that DisplayLink needs to update the whole screen on every cursor motion. Without "Handle lack of explicit cursor planes better" there will not be a cursor at all on DisplayLink devices in Mutter 3.36. I would assume that the 3.34 branch is relevant to Ubuntu 19.10 and the 3.36 branch is relevant to Ubuntu 20.04. ** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867757 Title: Please pull Mutter cursor fixes for DisplayLink devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1867757/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
