[Bug 1867977] Re: [amdgpu] Gnome shell crashed when attempt to lock screen / open app drawer with an active window

2020-03-18 Thread Max Loh
If I look into /var/crash/ folder, the closest filename match I found is
_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash
Is that the right file to run the command?

When I encounter crash, there was no report dialog, but I saw a thick
blank border around windows. Does it means that Gnome didn't crash but
just restarts itself?

Thanks. That confirms it was Xorg crashing, which might be the fault of

[Bug 1868019] [NEW] Add method to enable fractional scaling

2020-03-18 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Fractional scaling is currently requires enabling an experimental feature in
Mutter to use it. We would like this feature to be easily enabled by users.

[Test Case]
1. Open Settings
2. Select Displays panels

Expected result:
Scale can be set to fractional values (e.g. 125%). There is a UI control to
enable fractional scaling (disabled by default).

Observed result:
Scale can only be set to multiples of 100% unless the feature was enabled. No
UI control is shown for Fractional scaling.

[Regressional Potential]
New UI code risks introducing new bugs. Users enabling fractional scaling may
trigger new bugs.

[Bug 1867977] Re: Gnome shell crashed when attempt to lock screen / open app drawer with an active window

2020-03-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1868001] [NEW] Disk Capacity Does Not Show All Storage Space

2020-03-18 Thread Clayton Diggs
Public bug reported:

There are currently six storage devices attached to my machine, all of
which get activated and mounted on boot. The primary being the 250GB
NVMe device the OS is installed and run on, the secondary being a 2TB
software RAID of 4x500GB disks, and the third being a 5TB USB-connected
WD portable HDD. All of these are given mountpoints via the system
fstab, but only a portion of the available disk space appears to be
shown in Settings. 2.3TB as opposed to the actual ~7TB.

Installed 1:3.36.0-0ubuntu2

Here's a `df` of my mounts, excluding loops and tmps:
```
Filesystem  1K-blocks  Used  Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/nvme0n1p3  234375168  75058756  157696300  33% /
/dev/sdd   4883737600 306627148 4576010100   7% /mnt/Archive
```

I've also attached a screenshot of what Settings displays.

[Bug 1867977] Re: Gnome shell crashed when attempt to lock screen with Win + L with a terminal window

2020-03-18 Thread Max Loh
Update: turns out that Gnome will if there are output in the terminal
doesn't cause the crash

As long as I press Win + L with an active/focused window, Gnome would
crash.

** Description changed:

- Steps to reproduce the bug:
-
- 1. Open a terminal window
-
- 2. Type something and press "Enter", e.g. "aaa" (Gnome will only crash
- when there are output in the terminal window)
-
- 3. Press Win + L with terminal as the active window
-
-
- After that, Gnome shell will crash.
+ Whenever I press Win + L with a active/focused window (e.g. terminal),
+ Gnome shell crashes.

** Summary changed:

- Gnome shell crashed when attempt to lock screen with Win + L with a terminal
window
+ Gnome shell crashed when attempt to lock screen with Win + L with an active
window

[Bug 1867970] [NEW] Gnome WiFi Settings Freeze

2020-03-18 Thread benwhite1987
Public bug reported:

1) Release: Ubuntu 19.10

2) Package Version: gnome-control-center:
  Installed: 1:3.34.1-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:3.34.1-1ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.34.1-1ubuntu2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu eoan/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) Expected Behavior: Open WiFi Settings then back out to full Gnome
Settings and browse normally.

4) Actual Behavior: (Video Attached) Wifi Settings Banner freezes and
flashes along with window management buttons in the top right. Freezing
and flashing occurs when Wifi settings are opened directly or when they
are accessed from the rest of the Gnome Settings. Because Wifi is the
first menu option, freezing occurs when Settings is selected and Gnome
Control Center is opened directly.

[Bug 1867943] [NEW] Nautilus “Open Other Application” problem

2020-03-18 Thread Luke Thallmayer
Public bug reported:

When using Nautilus and I right click on an image file I get a drop down
menu, the first two items are “Open With *Default application*” and
“Open With Other Application”.

I use Mirage as my default application for image files.

On one account when I right click on an image file and choose “Open With
Other Application”, Mirage is the preselected application not “Image
Viewer” which is my usual second choice.

On another account Mirage isn’t preselected, “Image Viewer” is. This is
the expected behavior.

I used the "Properties"->"Open With" to select “Image Viewer” and set it
as the default. But that didn't work, it went back to Mirage as the
default.

I tried setting other programs as the default the same way and none
stuck, it always returned to Mirage.

I went to Settings->Details->Default Applications and changed the
“Photos” from Mirage to “Image Viewer”. That worked and when right
clicking and selecting “Other Application” Mirage is preselected. As
expected.

When I changed Settings->Details->Default Applications->“Photos” back to
Mirage the problem returned. Mirage is the default and the preselected
“Other Application”.

“Right click on an image file and select : 'Open With Other Application' Then
right click on the application that you do not want to be on that menu. Click
on 'Forget association'”. Worked on other programs but not on Mirage.

Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (beaver-osha X84)
Release:18.04
Nautilus 1:3.26.4-0~ubuntu18.04.5 (from Software center)

I expected Image Viewer to be the preselected Other Application.
I got Mirage as the default application and the preselected “Other Application”

I expected Mirage to be removed from the list when I clicked on “Forget
association”
What I got was Mirage would not go gently into the night

I expected Mirage to accept not being the default application when using
"Properties"->"Open With" to chose another application as the default.
What I got was Mirage remaining the default.

[Bug 1867930] Re: gnome-control centre crashed after clicking on 'About'

2020-03-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10

2020-03-18 Thread Stefan Frings
I have the same issue since upgrading to Ubuntu 19.10. SQLYog (with Wine
and X11) became almost unusable. Only 1 of 10 attempts work.

For the moment, I use Heidi SQL (with Wine) where only 50% fail.

Simply pressing Ctrl-C repeatedly does not work for me because When I
press Ctrl-C multiple times, then both SQLYog and HeidiSQL sometimes
freeze for a minute, sometimes they freeze until I kill them hardly.

I cannot switch to Wayland because then the screen sharing function of
Skype would not work, which I also need every day.

I hope that this will be fixed in the next LTS release.

[Bug 1867907] [NEW] Sync gimp 2.10.14-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2020-03-18 Thread Amr Ibrahim
Public bug reported:

Please sync gimp 2.10.14-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

It's a bug-fix release.

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Add a couple of upstream bug fixes: (LP: #1857254)
- upstream_fix_segfault_glib_paramspec.diff
- upstream_fix_segfault_glib_paramspec2.diff
  * No-change rebuild against libilmbase24 and libopenexr24.

The fix is in the Debian package, so the Ubuntu delta can be dropped.

Changelog entries since current focal version 2.10.14-2ubuntu1:

gimp (2.10.14-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Team upload
  * d/p/Don-t-crash-when-a-plugin-defines-an-invalid-property-nam.patch:
Apply patch from upstream 2.10.16 release. If a plugin defines an
invalid property name, don't use that plugin instead of crashing.
(Closes: #953880, #953854, #953794, LP: #1857254)
  * d/p/Fix-invalid-property-name-in-pagecurl-plugin.patch:
Apply patch from upstream 2.10.16 release to fix an invalid property
name in the pagecurl plugin. GLib 2.64 validates property names
in line with rules that were previously only in the documentation.

[Bug 1866998] Re: Snap Store snap can be uninstalled using Snap Store

2020-03-18 Thread AsciiWolf
Possible solution could be adding a "" tag
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
software/-/blob/master/data/appdata/org.gnome.Software.appdata.xml.in#L1491)
to AppData, if Snap supports it, or adding some gnome-software quirk
that marks the snap-store Snap as system application.

[Bug 1867133] Re: Ubuntu logo vanishes and fades back in (with a slightly different size) on gdm start

2020-03-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
When and if we want it, here's a polished distro patch for gnome-shell.
Assuming the size issue is also fixed in plymouth via comment #7 or
similar.

[Bug 1847712] Re: Desktop icons vanishing when in Activities Overview is jarring and looks ugly

2020-03-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If we need to patch it then the patch is here:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/1070.patch

Though let me know if that needs refreshing.

Do you mean 'uninstalled'? In any case closing if it works now and was
due to pulseaudio and not a bug in g-c-c
