[Bug 2022997] [NEW] Nautilus does not update view properly when deleting or moving files unless refreshed
Public bug reported: This issue happens in Nautilus 44.0, both on Wayland and X11, and has also been noted in upstream Gnome as well: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/2945 When deleting files, only the file being deleted should be shown as deleted, and when moving files/folders, the file/folder should appear as-is in the destination directory. However, this is not the case here. When deleting, the file/folder gets deleted correctly in the filesystem, but Nautilus does not update the view properly. The file being deleted still remains, instead showing another file to be deleted and when undoing delete operation via [Ctrl-Z], it shows a duplicate of the deleted file/folder. This issue persists until you refresh the view [F5], when the view shows up correctly. Also, when moving files/folders to another directory, the file/folder initially shows up as a blank 'text' file named '', until you refresh the view, when it shows up correctly. It is worth noting that this issue has apparently been fixed in Fedora and Arch for a while (see gitlab bug report linked above). Please implement the same fixes here in Ubuntu as well. [Bug 2022851] Re: Inappropriate files display
Same problem, just another explanation of the symptoms. Whenever I delete files, or move files (move files from one nautilus window to another). I find that any random file (usually\always the top file in the UI) is removed from the UI (or users view). The file that is removed from the users view is not the file meant to be moved or deleted. Importantly however, the right files seem to still be removed and moved. As stated above, changing directory before changing back (as a sort of "refresh"), shows all files were moved or deleted as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2022851 Title: Inappropriate files display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2022851/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2020277] Re: Update gnome-shell to 44.1
I successfully completed all 3 test cases with gnome-shell 44.1-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 23.04. One GNOME Shell extension, workrave, does not work but it also does not work with the original gnome-shell (44.0-2ubuntu3) for Ubuntu 23.04. I suspect this was broken between 44 Beta (where it did work) and 44 RC where the upstream developers removed more GTK3 code. I will be reporting that issue separately in Launchpad, but it needs to be fixed on the workrave side and it is not a regresssion caused by this update. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-lunar ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-lunar -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020277 Title: Update gnome-shell to 44.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2020277/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I reviewed the bug and the bugfix again today. With gnome-shell 44.0-2ubuntu3 on Ubuntu 23.04, when I do the test case, the journal shows a STACK TRACE. Eventually a crash report shows in /var/crash/ and I get an apport popup informing me of the crash and asking if I want to report the issue. With gnome-shell 44.1-0ubuntu1, I get JS ERROR: TypeError: workspace is undefined I do not get a stack trace, or a crash in /var/crash/ or an apport popup. [Bug 2012388] Re: X11 window (usually AnyDesk) at top-right of the screen is invisible and steals mouse clicks
I gotta update something here that I have noticed. Whenever the problem happens, any window on the system, when trying to click on it to get it focused on the system top bar, it will not handle the click, you would have to drag the window a bit to get it to focus. So basically, when the problem happens: 1. Try to click the top system bar of any window for it to get focus. 2. [Bug 2020225] Re: Update mutter to 44.1
I installed mutter 44.1-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 23.04 and successfully completed the Test Case with the GNOME Classic, GNOME, Ubuntu, and Ubuntu on Xorg sessions. We landed the gtk4 fix all the way to lunar-updates (and fully phased) that Andreas had mentioned earlier with the rectangle artifacts along the window borders so there is no regression there. While I tested mutter 44.1 with and without the corresponding gnome- shell 44.1 update and did not see any issue having a newer mutter than gnome-shell, I recommend that both be landed together. gnome-shell 44.1 depends on mutter 44.1 but I did not add breaks to enforce the upgrade the opposite direction also. GNOME upstream assumes that mutter and gnome-shell are upgraded together. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-lunar ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-lunar -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2020225 Title: Update mutter to 44.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/2020225/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hey Mike. While I understand that the issue is annoying there is always risk in doing change to a library of the base system as libglib and difficult to verify that there are not side effect of any of the software using it. If there is no real user visible impact the benefit is probably not worth the risk and effort for Ubuntu. Perhaps you could set up a ppa or local env for your CI including the fix instead?
