Nautilus works as a different user, `sudo nautilus` launches it
correctly. So is it a configuration problem? Where is nautilus's
configuration files?

[Bug 451861] [NEW] evince displays distorted text in some documents

2009-10-14 Thread Amr Hassan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Evince sometimes displays text in documents in a very distorted and
annoying form, here's what I mean in screenshots.

This is a page of the book in google docs:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/197580/distorted_evince/gdocs.jpg

and this is how it looks like in evince:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/197580/distorted_evince/evince.jpg

and here's the actual book:
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/197580/distorted_evince/book.pdf

It happened to me several times before with many books and I used to
think that the books were corrupted until I uploaded the book to google
docs and found it intact.

[Bug 360311] [NEW] Fit Page Width mode goes with the largest page width in document, not current page

2009-04-12 Thread Amr Hassan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Some pdf documents don't have all their pages in the same width, so the Fit
Page Width mode goes with the largest width which is most of the times only
the cover page and then the rest of the document is in a much smaller scale.
As I scroll down, evince goes with the largest page width anyway, no matter
what page I'm on or how far am I from the front much wider page.

I think the Fit Page Width mode should go with the currently selected
page, not the largest page width in the document.

[Bug 350520] [NEW] nautilus crashes upon moving a file to a sftp:// location

2009-03-28 Thread Amr Hassan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is happening to me too often. Nautilus can mount, browse and do
everything normally with sftp locations. copying files to remote sftp
locations is okay. On moving a file or a directory or a bunch of both,
it crashes when copying is done and it was removing the local copy.

I'm using 2.24 nautilus on Ubuntu 8.10 on two different machines. Both
have had this issue. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's happening
too frequently.

delete a directory that was opened in nautiuls, that nautilus window
reverts to the HOME directory.

[Bug 247469] Re: nautilus loads the contents of a directory and sorts them at the same time

2008-07-13 Thread Amr Hassan
i've updated the description with more info after doing a little more
investigations..

** Summary changed:

- nautilus takes a while to load up a directory with a lot of images sorted by
modification date
+ nautilus loads the contents of a directory and sorts them at the same time

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

- when i try to open my images directory which is a really huge folder
- full of images and subdirectories sorted by modification date, it takes
- forever for nautilus to finish loading all the files and their
- thumbnails. while it's loading them, the already-loaded thumbnails keep
- moving around in every direction rendering the whole window useless for
- about a minute or so till it all finishes loading..
+ When opening a directory full of images which are sorted by anything other
than manually (especially modification date which seems to be the worst case)
nautilus takes a very long time in the loading process because it starts
sorting the files before it fully loads the file list and the thumbnails.
+ during the loading process, icons (thumbnails) move around in every direction
because new files keep popping up in the middle of the file list which makes
nautilus act crazy for about a minute or so..

- when i tried to load the same folder in thunar after sorting by
- modification date as well, it didn't take any time at all and the folder
- loaded up in a second.. the thumbnails were probably all already cached,
- but still that didn't stop nautilus from going crazy every time i try to
- open the images folder again..
+ i'm testing on an images directory that contains 1271 images and 79
subdirectories..
+ opening the same directory on the Manually arrangement option seems to take
3 seconds or so.. any other option makes it take longer time to complete the
process..
+
+ ubuntu 8.04 and nautilus 2.22.3
+ Machine specs: Intel P4 3.0GHz, 1GB of RAM
