Yeah I still haven't been able to resolve it. I switched over to

[Bug 454270] Re: Copy command information message in Nautilus says file will be moved, not copied.

2009-11-11 Thread Jeff Sereno
Hi Nigel,

1. Right-mouse-click any single file or folder in Nautilus. A menu appears.
2. Choose Copy from the menu.
3. Now look at the message in the status bar (bottom of the Nautilus window).
It says the file/folder will be MOVED if you select the Paste command instead
of copied.

Repeat the test with multiple file/folder selections and it correctly
says will be copied.

I'm using Karmic Final.

I should add that the menu hover message correctly states will be
copied. When you actually select the Copy command (thus closing the
menu), the will be moved message appears in place of it.

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released

Bug description:
Binary package hint: empathy

Can not connect to the Yahoo network neither with accounts imported from
Pidgin, neither newly created accounts. Even changing the server to
scsa.msg.yahoo.com, or the encoding from UTF-8 to anything else does not
help.

Maybe this is because the recent changes in the Yahoo messenger protocol
(latest protocol version being version 16), however, Pidgin seems to
work fine, and as far as I know telepathy-haze is based off libpurple,
so it should work for Empathy too.

[Bug 479660] [NEW] Screensaver can't handle change password in 14 days message

2009-11-09 Thread Jeff Rasmussen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

I have my computer joined to a Microsoft domain which has a 90 day
password change policy. When my account gets within 14 days of that
password expired time, I get a Your password will expire in 14 days at
the Ubuntu terminal login (Alt-F1) and when I originally log into Ubuntu
I see a quick flash of the same message.

However, when I come back to my computer after the screensaver has
kicked in and I have set the screensaver to lock, I can't log into the
desktop until I change my password at a Windows machine. If I click on
switching users, I can log into the same desktop session by typing my
same domain\username and password at a gdm type login.

sudo and gksudo work just fine during this time.

[Bug 418244] Re: Error connecting to the Yahoo network

2009-11-08 Thread jeff...@brewstergraphics.com
Thanks, Rob for clarification. I noticed mine acting like this: it will
sometimes say authentication error, then network error immediately
following. But usually it's the network error. I have tried my user
name with and without @yahoo.com, which works for you? The Empathy
does show up in the envelope icon in 9.10. I found it easier to just
delete the account each time I wanted to try new settings, because I am
not confident edit account gets it, until you quit and restart. Also,
I am making sure I have logged into Yahoo.com in Firefox before trying
this. The frustrating thing is there aren't very many settings at all.

I was just reading your post again, Rob, when you said that you disable
and re-enable the protocol which protocol? Or do you mean you are
disabling and re-enabling the account in Edit accounts?

[Bug 477639] [NEW] Empathy Network Error logging into Yahoo (Karmic - 9.10)

2009-11-07 Thread jeff...@brewstergraphics.com
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I am on Karmic, and it gives me a Network error . I tried putting
cn.scsa.msg.yahoo.com. Didn't work. Frustrating because there are no

authentication error, then network error every time. I am not running

does not. It's a real Ubuntu-breaker since I use only Yahoo IM.

[Bug 237562] Re: nautilus draws black background when scrolled

2009-10-28 Thread Jeff Sereno
Actually, the problem DOES occur with the stock Nautilus patterns as
well - make the window size SMALLER than the dimensions of the stock
background tile image, close and re-open the Nautilus window and you
will see the rendering issue. I noted this on my EeePC701 with its
diminutive screen dimensions when I resized a window small enough to
only fit in two icons, closed it, reopened it and then scrolled.

The black (or corrupted) areas of the background you will observe match
the dimensions of the background image exactly, ie: a background
1024x768 in size inside a Nautilus window 640x480 in size will have
black/corruption from pixel 641 through to 1024 horizontally and pixel
481 to 768 vertically. When the background wraps, it will render
correctly, but again only to the original 640x480 dimensions of the
window where it will black/corrupt again.

Make the window larger, then close it and re-open it and the
black/corruption is gone (simply because the background image dimensions
are smaller than that of the window, so it therefore tiles properly
now).

I've observed this in Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10. The black appears in
Virtualbox and Intel gfx adapters and full-on corrupted/copied chunks of
video memory appear in place of the black when using NVidia gfx
adapters.

[Bug 456727] [NEW] File Roller crashes Nautilus when dragging files to extract over the Places pane

2009-10-20 Thread Jeff Sereno
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

Problem: If dragging dropping files from within an archive opened
using File Roller, if you drag those files to extract to a Nautilus
window while passing over the Places pane in Nautilus, Nautilus will
instantly crash, taking all desktop icons with it too.

You can re-open Nautilus and re-do the operation, but it will only
succeed if you drag the icons AROUND the Places pane.

[Bug 454270] [NEW] Copy command information message in Nautilus says file will be moved, not copied.

2009-10-17 Thread Jeff Sereno
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Purely cosmetic this one. I only noticed this now in the Ubuntu Karmic
Beta, but have since observed it in Ubuntu Jaunty too.

When you elect to move a SINGLE file or directory in Nautilus using
either the Edit-Cut menu or CTRL+X shortcut, a message appears in the
Nautilus info bar of that window telling you that filename will be
moved if you select the Paste command.

That's cool, but when you elect to COPY a SINGLE file or directory
instead with the Edit-Copy menu or CTRL+C you get the exact same
message! The actual operation executed is the copy you expected, however
- not a move operation.

The message correctly specifies will be copied or will be moved when
doing multiple file/directory selections instead of single
file/directory copies.

The message correctly specifies to be copied or to be moved when
browsing menu options for single or multiple file/directory selections.

So nothing serious, just an incorrect message in the info bar after you
have chosen the Copy function for a single file or directory.

[Bug 450813] [NEW] Ubuntu One emblem ticks are everywhere after recent Ubuntu One client updates

2009-10-13 Thread Jeff Sereno
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

After the Tuesday October 13th updates to the Ubuntu Karmic Beta, which
I believe a number of Ubuntu One client updates came through, ALL icons
in Nautilus from every source (except for the default Home directory
icons) all contain the new synchronised with Ubuntu One green tick
icon.

When you try and remove the emblem tick via Properties-Emblems, you can
uncheck the tick emblem, but the tick does not disappear. When you close
the Properties window and re-open it, the tick emblem is automatically
re-checked.

I do have an Ubuntu One account and have synchronised some test files.
All synchronised files have ticks (as one would expect with this
feature), however if I drag a new file that has definitely NOT been
synchronised, it too carries the green tick too.

Attached is a combined screenshot of the Home folder and a random folder
not related to Ubuntu One exhibiting the mass tick invasion.

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours

2009-09-04 Thread Jeff Sereno
This problem seems to be getting worse for me. Sometimes it will hang
within minutes of launching Evolution or may last several hours without
a problem, but I'm now guaranteed a minimum of four lockups a day,
requiring me to kill the evolution-data-server task each time.

I now have a cron job setup to kill the evolution-data-server task every
minute. This has worked around the hanging problem for me, but of course
it prevents certain functions working properly if that function relies
on the data server task just as cron kills it (such as email address
suggestions as you type).

As a side point, I notice the evolution-data-server seems to interfere
with other elements of the system when it hangs. Most notably MPlayer's
framerate dropped to half a frame per second at the times evolution-
data-server would hang. Killing the evolution-data-server instantly
restored full speed in MPlayer. What on earth has Evolution got to do
with MPlayer? And no, the CPU was not 100% either (I use NVidia VDPAU).
It's part of the reason why I set my cron job to run every minute rather
than every 30.

[Bug 417265] [NEW] Nautilus background image patterns corrupt if background bitmap image is larger than the Nautilus window dimensions

2009-08-22 Thread Jeff Sereno
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus has the ability to show a bitmap image as a background of the
main body area of a Nautilus window where all your file and directory
icons are shown instead of just a plain boring colour. Nautilus includes
a number of sample tiled patterns, but you can also use your own.

ISSUE:
Adding a new bitmap image to use as a background pattern works fine, however if
that bitmap image is larger than the Nautilus window (eg: a 1024x768 image used
inside a 640x480 window), not only does the bitmap not get tiled properly (the
tile size is that of the visible area of the Nautilus window itself), but when
the Nautilus window is closed and re-opened and you scroll the window to see
file and directory icons that are beyond the visible area of the window, either
black or corrupted graphic information appears, eventually followed by the
uncorrupted visible area of the pattern graphic again, at the real dimension of
the background image, ie: if the background image is 1024x768 and your window
is 640x480 in size, then the pattern from pixel 481 to 768 vertically and pixel
641 to 1024 horizontally is corrupted or missing altogether (black), but the
pattern then correctly repeats (wraps) at pixel 1025 horizontally, but only for
the next 640 pixels before it corrupts again, and wraps vertically at pixel
769, but again only for the next 480 pixels before becoming corrupt again.

Under NVidia gfx drivers v180, v185 and v190, the corruption appears to
be copied chunks of other formerly used areas of graphics memory, in my
case it is mostly chunks of my second display. Under Virtualbox, all I
get is black in the corrupted areas.

I am using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 64-bit but have also seen the problem
under Jaunty 32-bit as well. Nautilus package version 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu2

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (including control demonstration):
1. Open a Nautilus window.
2. Go to the Edit menu and choose Backgrounds and Emblems.
3. In the window that appears, drag one of the stock patterns into the main
body of the Nautilus window. The background will change to that pattern.
4. Close Backgrounds and Emblems window and close the Nautilus window.
5. Open the Nautilus window again and navigate to a directory that contains
files and/or folders that are too numerous to fit into the one window
simultaneously (eg: /bin is an easy place to navigate to for lots of files).
6. Scroll the window to reveal the other files/folders. You will notice that
the background tiling seems to look fine. This is because the pattern image
dimensions is smaller than the actual Nautilus window dimensions.
7. Go to the Edit menu and choose Backgrounds and Emblems again.
8. This time click the Add a New Pattern button. A file requester appears.
9. Locate any large bitmap image, in any supported format. If you don't have
one handy, use the default Jaunty wallpaper located at
/usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png.
10. Click the Open button and the bitmap will be added to the available list of
patterns.
11. Drag that new pattern into the main body area of the Nautilus window. The
background will now change to your large bitmap picture. The image, being
larger than the window, will be cropped to the Nautilus window size.
12. Close the Backgrounds and Emblems window, but don't close the Nautilus
window.
13. Navigate somewhere with lots of files/directories again (eg: /bin) and
scroll. Notice that the background wallpaper in the Nautilus window tiles or
wraps not at the actual image's dimensions, but the window's dimensions only.
There is also no visible corruption of black-only areas in general.
14. Widen the window to see the same problem exhibited horizontally as well.
15. Now close the Nautilus window.
16. Re-open the Nautilus window and navigate back to the same directory you
were using before.
17. Scroll again. If you are using NVidia gfx, you will see that the tiling is
corrupted beyond the window's dimensions up until you get to the background
image's dimensions at which point it tiles properly. The same goes for the
horizontal. If you are using Virtualbox with the Virtualbox Additions gfx
Driver installed, you just see black instead of corrupted data. Virtualbox with
no Additions driver installed exhibits a combination of corruption and black.
18. Make the Nautilus window much larger so that you can see a lot of the image
corruption.
19. Now close the Nautilus window while the window is still large in size.
20. Reopen the Nautilus window - it should appear in the last dimensions you
closed it at. Note that the background pattern now looks OK - where you saw
corruption before there is none, however if you again scroll the window you
will see the corruption is again only beyond the boundaries of the current
window dimensions.

Tested only with NVidia and Virtualbox gfx adapters. Not tested with
Intel, ATi or any other gfx chipsets.

Tested with various image formats including

[Bug 246996] Re: Audio device cannot be accessed by Ekiga when certain sound events are enabled in GNOME Sound Prefs

2009-08-08 Thread Jeff Sereno
Yannick, this no longer appears to be a problem in Jaunty. I conducted
the following test:

- Vanilla installation of Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 64-bit with all updates to today
installed.
- Went to System-Preferences-Sound and then clicked on the Sounds tab.
- Enabled the Play sound effects when buttons are clicked checkbox.
- Confirmed that the default beep sound plays for the Toggle button clicked
sound event in the Sound Preferences tool (but clicking on the triangle play
button).
- Changed the Toggle button clicked sound event to another sound (in this
case, the question.wav file).
- Confirmed that the new sound plays by clicking on the triangle play button.
- Closed the Sound Preferences.
- Logged out and then back in again.
- Launched Ekiga (v3.2.0 as bundled with Jaunty).
- Setup an account. Noted that the new question.wav sound did indeed play when
I clicked on checkbox buttons.
- Setup a Logitech Communicator STX webcam which includes a built-in mic. Ekiga
automatically detected and setup the device for me.
- Conducted an Echo Test call. I could hear the echo tester and was able to
successfully record and hear back my own voice.
- Further random changes in Sound Preferences did not appear to affect Ekiga.

Repeated the above test with a Ubuntu Jaunty 32-bit installation in a
Virtualbox VM with the same results, ie: no problems.

As a side note, starting Ekiga with pasuspender appears to work fine
as well.

Conclusion: The problem that was originally raised by me with Hardy has
been resolved in Jaunty (I never actually tested in Intrepid because I
switched to Skype at that time).

2009-06-15 Thread Jeff Long
Hi Pedro, no i do not get errors. What i want to do is tell the program to
make exactly 35 copies or exactly 175 copies. On most programs you can
select the # of copies to make before selecting to burn the disc or image.
On my Mac I use Toast which allows me to do this. It is very useful
especially when making many copies of say 12 different original discs.

Thanks and hope this helps clarify

archive (tarball in this case) Nautilus actually runs another
application called file-roller. If you look in file-roller's menu there
is no option to show/hide hidden files. This may be the intended
behaviour by the original developer. Would you like to request this
feature be added? Thank you.

Re: [Bug 373842] Re: evolution crashes on startup

2009-05-12 Thread Jeff Blanchard
Hello Sebastien,

I am not sure of the difference between a stacktrace and a backtrace.
Here is what I do

In terminal

gdb evolution 21 | tee gdb-evolution.txt
handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint
set pagination 0
run

Then in the Evolution gui

Create an event that recurs every week.
Save the event
Edit the event by changing the time.
Select all (freezes at this step).

In Terminal
ctr c
backtrace full
info registers
thread apply all backtrace
quit

Attached is the file.

Cheers, Jeff

the way to get a stacktrace is either to use apport or gdb this way

 - start evolution on the email component
 - gdb --pid `pidof evolution-data-server-2.26`
 (gdb) continue
 - switch evolution to the calendar
 - the gdb prompt will be stopped on the e-d-s crash
 (gdb) backtrace

Re: [Bug 373842] Re: evolution crashes on startup

I was able to get Evolution working again by renaming the .evolution
directory and then restarting. No big deal since I had only been using
it a few hours and my messages were still on the my email servers.
Unfortunately while I was trying to recreate the bug I accidently wrote
over the old .evolution directory. If it comes up again I will get the
stacktrace. I do like Evolution and will continue using it. The bug
did motivate me to learn backup/restore functions right away.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
 apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
 /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-
 file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where
_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours

2009-04-22 Thread Jeff Sereno
Just upgraded (well, fresh install - not upgrade from Intrepid) to
Jaunty RC a week ago myself (and updated to Final today) and I'm
experiencing this issue as well with my POP3 mailbox. When Evolution has
been running for at least an hour, when I click on any new message, it
comes up with Formatting message... and just hangs. You can see other
tasks periodically try to start such as polling for new mail etc. You
can't close Evolution either.

I can confirm that as noted, you have to kill the /usr/lib/evolution-
data-server-2.26 task and then Evolution bounces right back into action
without the need to quit and restart Evolution completely.

Sometimes Evolution can run happily all day without a hang. I have not
noticed any consistency with the messages that Evolution fails on. By
and large the majority of my emails are plain text notifications with no

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2009-01-05 Thread Jeff Powell
I have a related question. In Ubuntu 8.04, Max's workaround doesn't
work. (My initial problem was with 8.10, I know.) Max said:

1. Add the line unset SSH_AUTH_SOCK to ~/.xsessionrc (creating it if it
doesn't exist).
2. Run gnome-session-properties and untick GNOME Keyring Daemon Wrapper.

But in 8.04, there is no GNOME Keyring Daemon Wrapper choice in gnome-
session-properties.

What I want to do is get gnome-keyring-daemon out of the loop entirely.
Don't ask for my ssh passphrase in a dialog window, just let it be
entered on the command line. I'll use ssh-add -D when I'm done to get
things out of memory.

Is there some way to get gnome-keyring to stop acting as an ssh-agent
(or whatever it's doing) in 8.04 and instead just let the real ssh-agent
do it's thing?

Thanks much.

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2009-01-05 Thread Jeff Powell
Thanks much, Kenny. That did the trick.

I wish I knew were all this documentation existed. I'd never heard of
gconf-editor. Seems like a tool that fundamental should be right on the
ubuntu menus somewhere, but I can't find it there.

Anyway, it works. Thanks again.

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2008-12-04 Thread Jeff Powell
Max, good question. Right now, on the computer in question, I see only
the daemon. Not the wrapper. What I saw back in mid-November (when I
first tried your workaround) I can't say. I probably had only the
daemon itself running at that time as well, but who knows.

8.10 hasn't been nearly stable enough for me to avoid reboots in the
interim. At least 2 kernel updates and 3 or 4 issues of a black screen
in X (when coming back after the screen saver has been invoked) that
won't go away and require a reboot, etc. I wish my Ubuntu experience had
been a smooth one, but it's been really rocky. I've got other issues as
well that I won't bother to detail here.

Anyway, to answer you, it appears the keyring is running, which is
apparently the right thing, so disregard my comment.

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2008-12-03 Thread Jeff Powell
I, also, am running Max's workaround. The odd thing is that even if you
do what he suggests in gnome-session-properties, you'll still see the
Gnome keyring wrapper daemon running on the machine. However, it will
stop messing with ssh keys, and the standard ssh-agent commands will
then work to let you manipulate keys in the usual way because ssh-agent
is running.

The GUI lead me to believe I was turning off the Gnome keyring wrapper
daemon, but apparently that isn't what it really does.

So much for truth in advertising. Or something. :)

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2008-11-07 Thread Jeff Powell
I can confirm this bug on a vanilla 8.10 install. I see the same error
repeated 3 times after each reboot:

Nov 5 10:45:41 dworkin gdm[4869]: gnome-keyring-daemon: couldn't lookup
keyring component setting: Failed to contact configuration server; some
possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit,
or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See
http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1:
Failed to get connection to session: dbus-launch failed to autolaunch
D-Bus session: No protocol specified

This is a problem on several levels, and I'd probably prefer to get gkr
to stop dealing with ssh keys entirely. If anyone knows of a work
around that would make that happen I'd love to see that here.

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2008-11-07 Thread Jeff Powell
Is there a way to simply turn off gnome-keyring-daemon? If I did that,
what else would break? I can't find it in 8.10's services management
UI, so I don't know if a typical user can shut it down without some sort
of nasty issues cropping up.

But, shutting it down might get me past the silly popup window asking
for my passphrase, and let me just enter it into the terminal, where it
should be done.

[Bug 287689] Re: gthumb --import-photos doesn't work in intrepid without intervention

2008-10-24 Thread Jeff Bowden
I don't have my camera with me so I can't test it right now but the
System - Preferences - File Management - Media dialog is the same as
Nautilus - Edit Preferences - Media which I tried previously
(described in my original report above).

Are you saying it makes a difference if I go to it via System -
Preferences? That seems unlikely.

[Bug 287689] [NEW] gthumb --import-photos doesn't work in intrepid without intervention

2008-10-22 Thread Jeff Bowden
Public bug reported:

In 8.04 I had configured gthumb --import-photos to run when I plugged in
my camera. (System | Preferences | Removable Drives and Media...).
But 8.10 when I plug in my camera, Nautilus mounts it via gphoto2 vfs
which makes gthumb complain that it can't grab the device.

I can't find any way to tell Nautilus not to mount the camera. I tried
setting the File Management Preferences for Photos to do nothing but
it still does the something of mounting it.

The only workaround I've found is to open up nautilus, unmount the
camera and then run gthumb --import-photos from the command line.

I don't know if this is a bug in hal, nautilus, or gnome-volume-manager.
It's probably not a gthumb bug per se but I'm not sure where to file it
really.

[Bug 233889] Re: nautilus cannot handle

2008-08-29 Thread Jeff Bronks
I reinstalled 8.04 and the problem went away. I know this isn't as
satisfying as finding and fixing the problem, but it's really nice to
have everything working again. My home directory survived the
reinstall, so I reloaded various apps including Thunderbird and GnuCash,
and they were able to find their files and carry on working as if
nothing had happened. Result!

My guess is that my system was damaged when I upgraded it from Gutsy to
Hardy. There may be a bug in the upgrade process.

[Bug 246996] [NEW] Audio device cannot be accessed by Ekiga when certain sound events are enabled in GNOME Sound Prefs

2008-07-09 Thread Jeff Sereno
Public bug reported:

When you have the Select check box and Click on command button sound
events in GNOME assigned to anything other than No sound in
System-Preferences-Sound-Sounds, Ekiga cannot access the audio device
and fails with the following error: Failed to open device. Impossible
to open the selected audio device (Default) for playing. Please check
your audio setup, the permissions and that the device is not busy.

Observed under Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 and Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1. Both 32-bit
and 64-bit versions tested with identical results.

Steps to reproduce:
---
Phase 1 - Confirm normal operation
- Vanilla Ubuntu has no sounds set in System-Preferences-Sound-Sounds by
default except for the login/logout events.
- Load Ekiga and go to Edit-Configuration Druid.
- Click Forward until you get to the Audio Devices - 7/10 page.
- Leave audio output input options as Default.
- Click on the Test Settings button. Test window will appear and will record
and playback audio as expected.
- Close Ekiga.

Phase 2 - Reproduce the bug
- Go to System-Preferences-Sound-Sounds.
- Assign a sound file to the Select check box event.
- Log out of Gnome and back in again so the change takes effect.
- Load Ekiga and go to Edit-Configuration Druid.
- Click Forward until you get to the Audio Devices - 7/10 page.
- Leave audio output input options as Default.
- Click on the Test Settings button. Test window will NOT appear and you get
an error dialog saying Failed to open device.
- Close Ekiga.

Phase 3 - correct the bug
- Go back to System-Preferences-Sound-Sounds.
- Assign No sound to the Select check box event.
- Log out of Gnome and back in again so the change takes effect.
- Load Ekiga and go to Edit-Configuration Druid.
- Click Forward until you get to the Audio Devices - 7/10 page.
- Leave audio output input options as Default.
- Click on the Test Settings button. Test window will appear and will record
and playback audio as expected.
- Close Ekiga.

Phase 4 - reproduce the second bug
- Go to System-Preferences-Sound-Sounds.
- Assign a sound file to the Click on command button event.

Phase 5 - prove that the other events do not impact Ekiga
- Go to System-Preferences-Sound-Sounds.
- Assign a sound file to EVERY event EXCEPT for the Select check box and
Click on command button events.

I'm guessing that the audio device is indeed being kept busy under those
two sound events, so the bug is likely to be in the GNOME Sound Prefs
app rather than Ekiga.

[Bug 233889] Re: nautilus cannot handle

2008-06-26 Thread Jeff Bronks
Yes and no.

Adding the line to .bashrc made no difference. The Gnome 'Places
Computer' link still doesn't work, nor does automounting, and all the
fixed drives are still listed under 'Removable Drives'.

However, PCmanFM does work much better than Naughty Loss. Thanks,
Artships, for that suggestion.

If I switch on the side pane, it displays all my drives by their correct
labels (Nautilus had lost these, displaying just 'sda1' etc.) PCmanFM
also displays my flash drive, although it won't mount it. I have to do
'Tools Open as Root' to get the flash drive to mount, which is a pain
but better than nothing.
