[Bug 2064177] Re: Window borders and shadows missing from GTK3 dialogs (if autologin is enabled and Xorg is used)

2024-06-04 Thread Bernard Robbins
Logging off and on again fixed the issue with me. I have autologin on.
Effects Thorium Browser but not Chrome. Also effects my Slack install,
but no other apps so far.

[Bug 1991448] Re: evince hangs when print requested on Ubuntu 22.04.1

2022-10-21 Thread Bernard Moreton
Another Debian bug reference ( #1002725) provided a better (for me!)
clue:

In /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince
adding after
   /usr/bin/pcmanfm Cx -> sanitized_helper,  # LXDE
   /usr/bin/krusader Cx -> sanitized_helper, # KDE
   /usr/bin/thunar Cx -> sanitized_helper,   # XFCE
the line
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libproxy/0.4.17/pxgsettings Cx -> sanitized_helper,
# Print Dialog

After restarting apparmor, the print problem was fixed

There is a Debian fix,

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1939740 ***

This is the original please refer the:

To the Developer for a fix on QA Testing on the Impish Build.
Only to further the progress of the New OS Ubuntu 21.10 Impish.
More testing will need to be accomplished before the due date of 2021-08-19
feature freeze.
Hopefully everything will be finalized before the final release on 2021-10-14.
Time is of the essence. This has to do with the warning after boot only...!
within gnome-shell.
Held back because you are a developer and determined it is not retentive, that
obviously shows up during a live boot session as described during QA Testing. I
suggest Relay this to the developers... Please I will Retest in 2 days..

[Bug 1697692] Re: package libpoppler-qt5-1:amd64 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting a removal

2018-09-03 Thread Bernard Moreton
I tried to install Qpdfview, but failed with the error message
W: Failed to fetch
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/poppler/libpoppler-qt5-1_0.62.0-2ubuntu2.1_amd64.deb

Now I can't either install libpoppler-qt5, or un-install qpdfview from Synaptic.
The inconsistency needs urgent attention, I think.

Wayland, but if I use a Xorg session the shift key is recognized and I

Changed to opinion. (not a fix and not invalid)
I leave experimental view unchecked :)
It just makes no sense to have an experimental view checkbox without clearly
pointing to known open issues.

[Bug 1615862] Re: nautilus file copy dialog does not always close properly on completion

2017-09-07 Thread Denis Bernard
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1610200 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610200

I fail to see how this is a duplicate of bug #1610200, which has been
fixed in gtk+-3.0 - 3.20.9-1ubuntu1. This still happens for me on Ubuntu
17.04 / gtk 3.22.

What happens for me is that the copy progress pop-over opens in all
nautilus windows and once the copy operation finishes, the Unity icon
for "Files" shows the copy progress overlay until I close the pop-over
in *all* nautilus windows (which can be tricky to track when you have
several external devices).

[Bug 877279] Re: EOG - Image viewer hangs system when opening large image file

2015-08-17 Thread Bernard Decock
EOG 3.10.2 works fine on a computer with sufficient ram. However, if you
run this program on an older computer, eg. with only 512 MB of ram,
displaying large images (eg. 4000 * 6000, a common size of a modern
camera), will cause the computer to hang. The same applies to gThumb. In
order to view such images, one can use Shotwell. I reverted to a more
lightweight desktop, eg. Xfce, and Ristretto is displaying large
images without any issues.

[Bug 1448616] [NEW] xubuntu15.04 goes into sleep after power-up

2015-04-26 Thread Bernard Decock
Public bug reported:

The machine powers up and then goes automatically into sleep. Pressing
the power-button again gives the common log-in screen. This appears to
be timed, as if you don't succeed to enter your password within a short
time, it goes back into sleep again. During booting the screen is blank.
Once logged in, everything runs fine, except that the power-down-button
doesn't work prperly, the machine goes into sleep. You can only power
the machine down by means of sudo shutdown -h now.

[Bug 1390875] [NEW] Nautilus inconsistent usb-stick-write-protect handling

2014-11-09 Thread Bernard Decock
Public bug reported:

Nautilus handles a hardware write-protected usb-stick wrong after
restarting the computer.

1. Insert only one (this is important) usb-stick which is hardware
write-protected.
2. Try to copy a file to the usb-stick (no success = ok)
3. Set the write-protect off = One can't copy a file (error-message : usb is
write-protected) = Not ok
4. Remove the usb-stick and plug the stick back in = One can't still copy a
file,   write-protected-error-message ??
5. Remove usb-stick and plug another one in = one gets the same error-message
(although other usb-stick)
6. One has to log-out/log-in before the stick can be used

If you use at first a non-write-protected stick and then afterwards a
write-protected stick, then everything behaves normal.

Also a problem with Canon Powershot SX20 IS (Ubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu

I'm getting an error : Could not claim USB Device (-53).

Indeed, as suggested by Thomas Rosted, gphoto2 --get-all-files

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/precise/shotwell/precise/view/head:/plugins/shotwell-publishing/FacebookPublishing.vala#L1381
new LocaleLookup( sl, sl-sl ), should be new LocaleLookup( sl, sl-si
),
Could this be corrected for next beta?

[Bug 196757] Re: camera automount prevents import

2010-09-23 Thread Bernard Decock
Maybe I have to file another bug. The camera is seen as a
gphoto2-filesystem.

Open Nautilus (Places - Home Folder) - Edit - Preferences - File
Management Preferences - Media

Media Handling : If you change the option Photos to Ask what to do or Shotwell
Photomanager nothing happens
when you plug the camera in.

However, if you change the option Musicplayer to be opened with Shotwell, then
shotwell is started at plugging the
camera in! This means that a gphoto2-filesystem is considered as a
music-file-system ??? Alas, when Shotwell
is started, you still have to unmount the camera before Shotwell can use it.

[Bug 196757] Re: camera automount prevents import

2010-09-17 Thread Bernard Decock
I have still this problem on Lucid

cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=10.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=lucid
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS

Camera = Canon Powershot SX20 IS

Device Descriptor:

ENV{GPHOTO2_DRIVER}=proprietary, ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}=1,
MODE=0664, GROUP=plugdev

gphoto2 --list-files
Error initializing camera: -60: Could not lock the device

The workarounds for this bug all well known :

Before you use F-Spot, Shotwell, Picasa3 you only have to unmount the camera
or prevent the execution of /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor

I hope that this bug will get fixed as some of folks (where I replaced WinXp
with Ubuntu on their computer) don't
understand why the camera-icon is shown on the desktop (they love that!) but
that before you can use the
camera (in order to download photos) you first have to click away (due to the
unmount-operation) that icon.

When the camera-icon pops up and you click right, then you are allowed to open
the camera with Rhythmbox,
VLCPlayer, ... This does not make sense it all! I would rather expect to see
F-Spot, Shotwell, Picasa, ... here.
(Anyway, the Shotwell-people do have anticipated this bug, because Shotwell
allows you to unmount the camera
before downloading your stuff).

[Bug 405544] Re: Kernel does not recognize blank optical media

2010-08-30 Thread Bernard Decock
I did a clean install of ubuntu 10.4 on a dell Inspiron 5150 (cd/dvd-
drive = CDRW/DVD SBW-242).

I can burn a blank cd by means of Brasero (brasero indicates the correct number
of bytes available). If one
clicks on the desktop-icon (mounted device) - properties : 0 bytes used, 0
bytes free == wrong number
of free bytes is indicated).

However if I insert a blank DVD, there is some activity on the drive, but no
errors are generated (dmeg, debug , ...)
nor a mounted-icon is generated. Brasero can't burn the data (no media)

[Bug 405544] Re: Kernel does not recognize blank optical media

2010-08-16 Thread Bernard Decock
I encounter the same messages (See the loggings and testresults in Bug
#602862). To my opinion, this is not
a Brasero-bug as Nautilus reports that the empty CD has no free space as well.
It is logical that Brasero
can't write to a disc having no free space.

[Bug 405544] Re: Kernel does not recognize blank optical media

2010-08-14 Thread Bernard Decock
I have this problem with Lucid: uname -a
Linux Ubuntu-Bernard 2.6.32-24-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 28 06:07:29 UTC
2010 i686 GNU/Linux

Blank disc is reported to have no empty space (Bug #602862) = Brasero
can't burn blank media. Note that Nautilus also reports no space
available. K3b works fine!

[Bug 615334] [NEW] Thrashes when leave mouse over window one second

2010-08-09 Thread Bernard Brosseau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

Occurs when I leave an unmoving mouse over the contents of the remote desktop
contents more than one second.
Does not happen over window decorations, buttons, etc.
Does not happen when moving the mouse.

Basically, when the mouse is left unmoving:
- The mouse cursor starts refreshing/blinking very fast.
- The CPU starts running 100%.
- The contents screen does not update itself fast. I wouldn't know if because
of a lot of network messages being sent, or the capped CPU.

This does not happen on other vncviewer such as xtightvncviewer.
I thought it may be caused by Compiz, but it also occurs when using Metacity.

[Bug 613759] Re: segmentation fault when launching seahorse

2010-08-09 Thread Bernard Catand
I don't know much in computers but exploring many other bugs i've encountered,
i feel like it may come from the readline library, or something like that.
I'm gonna try further.

2010-08-09 Thread Bernard Catand
All right, i removed the readline-6.1 library and i could launch seahorse.
Meanwhile, i need readline... If someone is inspired to fix this
incompatibility, it would be great
thank you.

[Bug 613759] [NEW] segmentation fault when launching seahorse

2010-08-05 Thread Bernard Catand
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

When i launch seahorse (from a terminal) i get the following messages :

** Message: init gpgme version 1.2.0

** (seahorse:1718): CRITICAL **: init_gpgme: assertion `GPG_IS_OK (err)'
failed

** (seahorse:1718): CRITICAL **: seahorse_gpgme_source_init: assertion
`GPG_IS_OK (gerr)' failed
Segmentation fault

And then, obviously, the prompt.
I don't use often seahorse on my desktop computer, but it's the same on my
laptop (where i use lucid lynx too).
I don't know whether this bug is a security vulnerability.

1) my release : Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
2) seahorse's version : 2.30.0-0ubuntu2
3) my expectations : [...] launch seahorse ?
4) what happened : [...] nothing ? i got a segmentation fault, and then nothing.
