[Bug 449176] Re: Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not)
This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME . Thanks in advance. Hi Pedro, I have done all my system updates, and the same problem still exists. Just to confirm, here's my setup : - Thecus N2200 NAS, running SAMBA - One share on there is called "shared", I mount this to /media/shared - One share on there is called "media", I mount this to /media/media - Ever since this problem first occurred, it's always the "media" one that appears twice in my PLACES menu What I've done for you, is left these two entries in my fstab, but manually un-mounted them. Then I took a screenshot called Screenshot-not-mounted.png. Then I issued the command (sudo mount -a) to mount all shares, and took some more screen shots. I also went to PLACES >> COMPUTER, clicked properties for all the mounts, and took screenshots of those. It's also interesting that in PLACES >> COMPUTER, you'll notice the "shared" mount has a different icon to the "media" mounts. For reference I have also included my fstab, plus also my /etc/mtab and output of 'mount' command. Feel free to request any more tests, I'm happy to help. Re: [Bug 449176] Re: Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not)
Hi Pedro, I have recently done the dist-upgrade to maverick. I still have my two SAMBA shares mounted. One of the shares still appears twice on my places menu within Gnome. Of the two entries only one of them works ... The other gives an error message about not being mounted. Please note the second share works perfectly and only appears once. I will send you a screen shot later today. Regards, Callan On 20/10/2010, at 3:55, Pedro Villavicencio wrote: > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make > Ubuntu better. [Bug 449176] Re: Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of Gnome Disk Utility is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449176 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 449176] Re: Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not)
I had similar problem with two of the four partitions on an external usb drive. Edited fstab and noted that those two were the only ones that didn't use 'defaults' so for the moment I changed them to 'defaults' and the duplicate entries went away. Now I have to check if everything works. I also have 64-bit Karmic (was Jaunty but did upgrade, which btw crashed the first time through). The partitions in question are used all the time; one is my primary data disk, and the other is used for virtualbox disks. -- Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449176 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I'm not sure about the package, so if it's incorrect, please change it. ** Package changed: ubuntu => gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) -- Duplicated external media entries (one mounted, one not) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449176 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
