This is a problem when a beta version of gnome- shell is packaged. It's a problem when a new gnome-shell version is first released because it takes time for developers to test the extension and mark it as compatible. It's also a problem because gnome-software only checks for extension updates every 7 days. Some extensions still work but haven't been updated in a very long time. More discussion on the attached GNOME bug, particularly comment 7 and at GNOME bug 776460 Original Bug Report --- Update: This behavior was because gnome-shell was a 3.23 development snapshot and no extensions at extensions.gnome.org were marked as being explicitly compatible with that version. GNOME Software 3.22 includes a plugin to show GNOME Shell extensions when GNOME Shell is running. On the home page, click Add-Ons. Except that the Add-Ons button is not showing up here. gnome-software 3.22.6-0ubuntu1 Ubuntu GNOME 17.04 Beta To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-software/+bug/1671612/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1658921] Re: NetworkManager does not manage wired connection
Maybe this behaviour should be tied for example into one installing ubuntu-desktop package or equivalent? While it is true that for example in server machine having NetworkManager and it controlling stuff is generally not wanted behaviour, but when user install ubuntu in "not official" way, like debootstrap that is needed for "ZFS as root partition" installation currently, all user has first is base minimum setup and then if wanted to install ubuntu GUI, one uses basically "apt- get install ubuntu-desktop"... I think that should be deciding factor to have NM managing devices or not. In any way, if NM is managing devices, an update in general should not change that, or ofcourse other way round too, status quo should stay. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658921 Title: NetworkManager does not manage wired connection Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: NetworkManager does not manage my wired eth0 connection, no matter how I set /etc/network/interfaces or /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf Using ubuntu 16.04, /etc/network/interfaces only managed lo, and [ifupdown] section of NetworkManager.conf had set managed=false. With these same settings, after upgrading to ubuntu 16.10, eth0 appears as unmanaged in nm-applet. If I modify /etc/network/interfaces and add auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp And set managed=true in NetworkManager.conf [ifupdown] section, eth0 is still unmanaged despite it does get an IP from DHCP server. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1586539] Re: Major screen flickering in Chromium and Google Chrome
I've done the same here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1666994 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586539 Title: Major screen flickering in Chromium and Google Chrome Status in X.Org X server: Confirmed Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: On a fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04 I noticed major screen flickering issues in Chromium and Google Chrome browsers. Since this never happened in Ubuntu 15.10 with exactly the same Google Chrome binary, I believe, bug is caused by something that was added/updated in 16.04. I came across some discussions where different people suggested that it is related to new X.Org version. Here's a video to show what is happening: https://youtu.be/l21WsKz3fZc?t=45s I could fix this flickering with --disable-gpu-compositing switch, but this slows down page drawing significantly so it can't be considered a workaround. There is also a Chromium bug report: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=606152, but I don't think they will fix an Ubuntu-specific bug. Update: this indeed happens only when browser window is maximized. WORKAROUND: 1. sudo apt-get purge xserver-xorg-video-intel 2. sudo rm /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf (for those who created this file before) 3. reboot ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 Uname: Linux 4.6.0-040600-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat May 28 00:01:20 2016 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: xenial DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: vboxhost, 5.0.20, 4.4.0-22-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 5.0.20, 4.6.0-040600-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a2e] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
