[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1370953] Re: layout switch is delayed

2019-06-08 Thread Alexey
Hello!

The problem is still here. In 17.10, 18.04, 18.10, 19.04 releases...

I found out that all standard layout switches are with that stupid delay.
But somehow the alternative switching on LShift+RShift works instantly!

I spent few hours to find the place where this action is stored to move
it to standard keybindings like Shfit+Alt, but failed.

May be someone can suggest the way how to find action on key binding in
Ubuntu to do this?

Title:
  layout switch is delayed

Status in console-setup package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in gconf package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have two layouts configured En and Ru with Ctrl-Shift as layout
  switch combo.

When I start typing in wrong layout I notice it, hit Ctrl-Shift and type
again, but more often than not it is wrong layout again.
I repeat the action, but there is no luck. On the third attemt it usually
either works OR the first letter is still in wrong layout, but the second is in
correct one - i.e. layout switches as I type.

The explanation for this is that layout switch takes very unreasonable
time - much longer than it is needed to move your fingers from one
key to the other. Each time I encounter the error I retry slower so on
the third attempt it is slow enough to actually recognize that layout
switch is happening, but with a delay.

This is extremely annoying and unacceptable. If someone knows how to
work around it - please post your suggestions here. It would be nice
to have a solution for 3+ layouts setup as well.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1814465] Re: Firefox 65 cannot load Flash on trusty because of libxul.so broken dependency

2019-06-08 Thread Bela Lubkin
According to
https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/autoland/rev/6fc6bdea42a6 (associated
with https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1501218),

So FF 65/66/67/+ could potentially be built for trusty with functional
linkage to Flash.

Recently I have been facing problem with computer graphics.
Sometimes while working, the system freezes and when the system resumes
working a pop-up window appears stating that "An error occurred", and in the
details of the error there is problem with Xorg.

Today, after powering on the system, a message appeared saying:-
"The system is running in low-graphics mode. You screen, graphics card, and
input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to
configure these yourself".
Using a solution from askubuntu forum, I did the following:-

  1) Pressed Ctrl + Alt + F1
  2) Logged in with my credentials
  3) Ran the following commands:
  $ sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop
  $ sudo reboot

This helped me open the system.

Now, I checked whether the graphics driver is installed or not. So, I went to
Settings > Software & Updates > Additional drivers.
  But, no driver is detected.

So, I guess that there no graphics driver installed on my system.

Title:
ibus-cangjie in libreoffice cannot type Chinese character at end of
  line

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I am using LibreOffice Version: 6.0.7.3, in particular I am using
  LibreOffice Writer.

I am using ibus-cangjie to input Chinese.

I cannot input any Chinese characters when I reach the end of a line
  on the screen.

The expected behavior is that the typed Chinese character simply
spills over to the next line and I can continue to type without a
  problem.

If I reach the end of the line with half a space (of full-sized
Chinese character) available, then I could insert a punctuation mark
like 。 or 、 even if I use cangjie codes to input them (and then I can
  continue normally).

if I reach the end of the line with no space available, then I cannot
insert 。 or 、 when I use cangjie codes to input them (in the ibus-
cangjie standard input table, 、 = XI)

In neither case I can type a Chinese character like 日, all the typed
characters simply disappears from the input queue and is not typed at
all. Note that as I type I can see that the candidate Chinese
characters according to the cangjie codes I input, they just don't get
  sent to the application.

when I am at the end of the line, I can type as many spaces as I want
and the problem of being unable to type a Chinese character persists.

Finally, the bug only triggers when I am at the end of text; if I am
inserting in the middle of text, even if I am at the linebreak, I can
  type normally and naturally.

the attached screenshot shows where I am getting my cursor stuck.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1831624] Re: ibus-cangjie in libreoffice cannot type Chinese character at end of line

2019-06-08 Thread Bo-Yin Yang
Hello Marcus,

I am perplexed by the pattern I am getting. On the attached document
there is a gray shaded area in item 2. When I open the document, I
can't insert Chinese characters on the paragraph at the shaded point.
But I could do it at other places. Could you check to see if the same
pattern repeats?

[Regression] Reverse VNC (VNCI) protocol is missing in Remmina
1.2.0-rcgit.29+dfsg-1 (Ubuntu 18.04 - bionic), but is available in all
older Ubuntu and official remmina-ppa-team PPA releases, including
1.2.0-rcgit-27 and older versions from ppa:remmina-ppa-team/remmina-

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install remmina-plugin-vnc package and open Remmina app
  2. Press + button on the top left side
  3. Open "Protocol" dropdown list in newly appeared "Remote Desktop
Preference" window
  4. Notice, that "Reverse VNC (VNCI)" is missing from "Protocol" dropdown list

On Jun 3 2019, the system update corrupts the system. It will not

Title:
[nvidia] gnome-shell eats 100% cpu when seconds display is on and
  screen is locked

Status in Mutter:
  Fix Released
Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress
Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
on my laptop (xiaomi notebook pro), ubuntu 18.10 amd64, standart ubuntu
desktop (gnome-shell), no application running
just activate second display in gnome tweak, let it lock itself
the fan is going fast, simply moving the mouse and the fan slow down.
wrote a simple script to append a top every minut in a log file, show that
gnome-shell consumes 100% when locked.
workaround : disabling second displaying and no more CPU usage / fan noise
when locked.

Title:
  firefox 67.0.1 lost my profile

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On bionic, Firefox was upgraded to 67.0.1 this morning (7 June).

When I launch firefox I've a message like this

"Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing
history already saved to an existing profile. To protect your
information, create a new profile for this installation of Firefox."

And I've just one option: Create a new profile.

Of course, this new profile ignore all my bookmarks, identification,
  password, etc.

  I've tried:

-1 Erase the new profile folder and the installs.ini file, rewrite the
profiles.ini with the name of my old profile. Same problem.

-2 run firefox -p into a terminal to choose my old profile. Same
  problem, rejected.

It's strange the message box is saying "Using an older version of
  Firefox", why old ?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1576581] Re: New Firefox release hogging CPU

2019-06-08 Thread Paul White
Upstream bug #1349874 was closed "RESOLVED WORKSFORME" on 2017-03-23
with the implication that the problem was fixed in or around Firefox 55.

Now that Firefox 67 is the currently supported release in Ubuntu, is
there any reason for this bug report to remain open or can the issue
now be regarded as being fixed?

2019-06-08 Thread Paul White
The upstream bug was closed "RESOLVED NOTGNOME" on 2011-04-06

52 Launchpad users reported a problem which hasn't been commented
on for around seven years so I'm closing this as an issue that has
been fixed (possibly in another package).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1832015] Re: firefox 67.0.1 lost my profile

2019-06-08 Thread Paul White
I'm also now seeing this problem when restating Firefox in Ubuntu 18.04
although I didn't after restarting Firefox immediately after it was
upgraded to version 67.0.1 (yesterday?).

  firefox 67.0.1 lost my profile

  1. Install Ubuntu 15.04.
  2. Install Thunderbird
  3. Install Lightning using: sudo apt-get install xul-ext-lightning
(as depending package also xul-ext-gdata-provider is installed in step 3.)
  4. Open Thunderbird and try to configure the existing google calendar by
using "New Calendar" -> "Network" -> "Google Calendar" -> Enter a URL you got
from the preferences at the google calendar website -> You are asked for
credentials but whatever you try it is not stored!
  5. chack the version of the addon (Menu "Extras" -> "Addons" -> "Provider for
Google Calendar"

Current result: It is version 0.33
Expected result: It should be version 1.0.2 or above.

Please ensure that a working (latest?) version of this plugin is going
to be installed or remove the dependencies for the lighning package
(xul-ext-lightning) and remove the xul-ext-gdata-provider package!

Workaround: Go to the Addon page and open the "more" link next to the
addon description. The addon page will be opened and you are able to
use the big green button to install the current version.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 192065] Re: spam images don't display

Thunderbird now has an option under 'Preferences | Privacy' to allow

you raised this bug report, satisfy your feature request?

This is actually a suggestion, not a bug. (But maybe its a bug :) )

When the thunderbird shows spam mail, it sometimes does not filter out
all images. Would it be possible to configure the Thunderbird in such
a way, that the images are not shown for mail that are considered tobe
  spam?

This is important for me, since i have to recheck all the mail, to make shure
that they are indeed spam.
But some mail have inappropriate images, that i would not like to see. So,
and option, that turns off imges would be great.

  Thanks
  Anton

At the very bare minimum there should be some notification of this,
but it would also be nice if the user could specify the following
options for all extensions, as well as specific ones:

  - Notify on all updates
  - Notify only on update requiring restart
  - Never notify

certain ones to have custom settings different from the overall

Title:
  firefox 67.0.1 lost my profile

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1441940] Re: Chromium keyring save fail loops until memory exhausted and crashes

2019-06-08 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid) reached end-of-life on February 4, 2016.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when
using currently supported versions of Ubuntu and Chromium? Please let us
know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in
approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

Chromium keyring save fail loops until memory exhausted and crashes

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This is collected on 15.04, but also occurred in 14.10 on the same
laptop and another AMD custom built desktop. The browsers have three
users signed in, but only one active window open and one blank tab.
Removing the extensions seemed to have zero impact on the crash. This
stall then crash behaviour makes Chromium and Chrome unusable as the
program is killed within a few minutes of starting.

The following is the terminal output of just launching chromium-
browser and letting it sit. The same behaviour also occurs with
Google-Chrome as well and does not disappear if the packages are
installed and reinstalled. The observed behaviour is upon launch the
system loads as expected while watching the system ram allocation the
RAM grows then plateaus then while sitting there the window will gray
and be non responsive. Then resume to a regular colour while the RAM
will grow until the system memory is exhausted.

Title:
Chromium triggers keychain unlock too late

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When you visit a login page for which you have saved the password, the
browser does not auto fill the password. You have to enter it again.
Once you have entered it, Chromium asks you to save it (even though it
has been saved a thousand times before). When you choose to save it,
Ubuntu asks you to unlock the keychain. After you unlock it, you don't
have to manually enter saved passwords in the current session.

This is extremely stupid and inconvenient - what's the point of saving
passwords when you have to always enter it again plus enter the
keychain password to log into accounts? Instead of not entering any
password - you have to enter two passwords! Other browsers, like
Firefox, don't work this way. Please remove the keychain unlock all
together or trigger the unlock dialogue prior account password entry
  or on browser startup.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1829746]

2019-06-08 Thread Libreoffice-commits
Caolán McNamara committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "libreoffice-6-2":

https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/8eff9425897a42acb3f95750a4a2654e4f428444%5E%21

tdf#124694 gtk3 GtkFixed takes the max size of all its children...

It will be available in 6.2.5.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More
information about daily builds can be found at:

Title:
[upstream] LibreOffice Impress embed video broken outside slide

Status in LibreOffice:
  In Progress
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Summary:
If you insert video in Impress slideshow and the video is bigger than slide
or is partially out of slide, the libreoffice UI or "slideshow" breaks. See the
video [1]

This bug is related to "libreoffice-gtk3" and "gstreamer1.0-gtk3". The bug
does not accrue if using "libreoffice-gtk2" or none (the default LibreOffice
VCL). Tested on Ubuntu 19.04. Enabled -purposed and upgraded libreoffice to
"6.1.6"

So the current situation (upgrading to "6.1.6") is that video plays
correctly IF the video is fully inside the slide.

If the video is a bit outside the slide or video is bigger than slide, when
pressing "play" button in right pane, libreoffice UI totally breaks.
Only the ~1/8 of window display content other space is white. If resizing the
window, the content gets even smaller.
Also when running the slideshow, it's broken.
I need to close impress and run it again.

Can someone else confirm similar behavior?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 664448] Re: Evince steals focus when automatically reloading the document

2019-06-08 Thread Paul White
Upstream bug was marked as a duplicate of #640441 which
was closed as the problem was transferred to
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/issues/200

That report was closed 2018/05/28 as bug was no longer
reproducible.

As there have been no comments here on Launchpad for almost
eight years, can this bug report be closed too?

Title:
Evince steals focus when automatically reloading the document

Status in Evince:
  Invalid
Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: evince

When editing LaTeX files, my setup is to have Vim on one workspace and
Evince on another one. I compile the document directly from Vim, but
every time I do this, Evince find that the document has changed and
automatically reloads it. This is fine, but by doing this Evince
steals the focus from Vim, leaving me on my workspace with my
  unfocused Vim window.

And since Evince is so smart it doesn't need any preferences window, I
can't configure it to not auto-reload modified documents...

Backport "add an option that allows rewinds to be disabled"

Bug description:
PulseAudio git master added an option that allows rewinds to be
disabled. I backported it to v12.2, the patch is here:

  ubuntu/blob/master/pulseaudio-12.2/debian/patches/0001-Backport-add-
  an-option-that-allows-rewinds-to-be-dis.patch

This will help PulseEffects that is being packaged in
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1832059 by fixing crackling
sound when changing the volume level.

It would be good to have this patches applied in Eoan if PulseAudio
13.0 does not get to it.

Title:
  firefox 67.0.1 lost my profil

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1829366] Re: [SRU] Bugfix release 1.14.4

2019-06-08 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Iain, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gstreamer1.0 into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer1.0/1.14.4-1~ubuntu18.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Bug description:
  [ Description ]

We should keep up with GStreamer's bugfix releases in the 1.14 series
  that 18.04 shipped with.

  [ QA and testing ]

Play a range of videos in Totem. Play a range of audio tracks in
Rhythmbox. Try to stream audio and/or video. Try to install a missing
  codec.

In all cases, make sure that everything which worked before still
  works.

  [ Regression potential ]

If one of the fixes is bad then it might break video or audio
playback, or could crash any application that tries to use gstreamer.
