[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1334329] Re: Sound input settings not saved

2014-09-19 Thread GwaiTsi
this is so bloody annoying. everytime i have a skype call, i have to go
to the sound settings and select the analoge mic before the mic will
work. by instint i automatically close the dialog which sets the mic
back to digital and interrupts the conversation.

Is there still no fix for this? this was working fine from 11.04 all the
way till 13.10 and then only became a problem with 14.04

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2014-07-03 Thread GwaiTsi
Hi, I have this damn problem for about a week after some ubuntu updates.

I am only using POP accounts and it is damn annoying, cause everytime
you open evolution or do a send/receive you have to re-enter the
passwords (for each account).

I have tried deleting the enteries from seahorse and it create new ones
again after entering the password, but nevertheless, still requires a
password each time.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1232454] Re: Often automatic suspend dialog when I unlock

2013-11-18 Thread GwaiTsi
add me to the voice of frustration. It wouldn't be so bad if;
- the dialog didn't appear as many as five times
- after entering the password to login, clicking on the dialog caused it to
revert back to the login screen and having to re-login again.

i could think of a few profanities to describe this behavior and the genius who
thought to add it,
but i'm sure it was meant with the best intent.

4 years since this issue was first raised and still not implemented

i use foobar2000 in wine to over come this, but hardly an ideal solution.

fyi / i have 3 different systems and 3 different outcomes.

- new install 13.10 on new machine, no issue

- clean upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 where adding lightdm to hidden-users
solved the problem

- bad upgrade 13.04 t 13.10 where 13.10 had to be re-installed but /home was

in this instance, adding lightdm to hidden-users only solves after a logout

The ConsoleKit support was regressed in 1.7.5 and it's never been
  passed to logind.

Without the greeter being marked as a greeter class both logind and
ConsoleKit consider it an open session that must be logged out of
  before you can shutdown.

This cases AccountsService to report this user and it is shown in
  greeters.

  To reproduce:
  1. Boot to Unity Greeter
  2. Log into guest account
  3. Log out of guest account
  Expected result:
Greeter shows user list same as before login
  Observed result:
A new user is added - Light Display Manager

  Regression potential:
This variable has not been set when using logind in Ubuntu so a low risk of
other subtle behaviour changes.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1243519] Re: since upgrade to 13.10, login screen displays Light Display Manager as its own user

2013-10-24 Thread gwaitsi
i have this bug and the workaround i.e. users.conf hidden-users=lightdm
does not work for initial startup. uid=111

i.e. initial startup shows Light Display Manager as a login account,
after login with a normal user account and then logoff, Light Display
Manager no longer shows.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1237805] Re: [GA-MA78GM-S2H, Realtek ALC889A, Green Line Out, Rear] left-right channels output to both sides

2013-10-10 Thread gwaitsi
I don't know about your comments re amixer not 0% - the balance bar in
the gnome volume indicator is either hard left or hard right when i did
the tests.

Nevertheless, the test recording i used has only recording on the left channel,
or the right channel.
At those times it shouldn't matter where the balance is set, nothing should
come out of the opposite channel and indeed it works correctly when i run these
tests on my asus laptop using the same external speakers.

The correct operation should beÖ
left channel recording plays with either balance left, or balance center but
only from left speaker - there should be no right output
right channel recording plays with either balance right, or balance center but
only from right speaker - there should be no left output

i am not sure what you want me to do with the code you put. i am new to
linux
