[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1899667] Re: LO can't send email, probably an apparmour problem

2020-12-11 Thread Robert Hrovat
The same happens on Ubuntu Gnome versions. It looks like apparmour problem.
I did next steps to make it work:

ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libreoffice.program.oosplash
/etc/apparmor.d/disable/
apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libreoffice.program.oosplash

ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libreoffice.program.soffice.bin
/etc/apparmor.d/disable/
apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libreoffice.program.soffice.bin

ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libreoffice.program.senddoc
/etc/apparmor.d/disable/
apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libreoffice.program.senddoc

And after that I had to replace sensible-lomua with thunderbird inside
LO Tools -> Settings -> Internet -> E-mail client.

I don't know why sensbile-lomua does not exist anymore and nothing else
works. Even if I put xdg-email or just thunderbird. Without apparmor
changes it does nothing.

I'm pretty sure this is an apparmour profile problem since LO seems to
want RW perms on something and AA seems not to want to give it. There
lies the full extent on mu debugging expertise in this area.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1803604] Re: [upstream] "Send -> Document as e-mail" in Writer / Calc does not work

  Description: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia
  Release: 18.3
  LO: Version: 6.1.3.2
  Build-ID: 1:6.1.3~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

In writer I have an open document. If I then want to send it:

  "File - send - document as e-mail"

  **Nothing happens**

Same with send e-mail as open-document and word document. Only send
with pdf opens at least the pdf dialogue. But then nothing happens.

  Path to thunderbird: /usr/bin/thunderbird
Thunderbird opens if I use this path so the path seems correct. No error
message received.

Expect: Mail is opened and document attached. (which worked before)

Update: Just checked in Ubuntu 18.04 and LO 6.06.2
There it works as expected. Will check my other system again. Maybe it just
does not work on my other system.

I think I found the cause. I accidentally forgot to install diodon

Khurshid, can you check if you have didon installed and if removing it
helps?

The Xserver crashes randomly after upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10. Before
  the update everything was stable.

The problem occured mostly while using Thunderbird but also once while
  using Firefox.

The Xserver crashes and I'm logged out. It takes about 10 seconds
until gdm fires up again and I'm able to login again.

The last part of /var/log/Xorg.0.log says:

2015-11-02 Thread Robert Hrovat
Disabling animations did not help me. There are less crashes but still
happens. Almost everytime when I try to reply to a mail or open calendar
event in Thunderbird. This is not happening on other machines with non-
intel graphic cards.

Title:
lightdm crashes on window open in Ubuntu 15.10 intel

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Symptom: xorg crashes on windows creation

How to reproduce: No 100% reproducibility, however intensively using
2D/3D acceleration triggers the bug (e.g. by opening several new
windows and/or menus in a Unity desktop environment)

Affected hardware: Intel HD Graphics 4400/5000 etc
  Affected software:
  - kernel 4.2.0-16-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 8 15:35:06 UTC 2015 x86_64
  - Ubuntu 15.10 with Unity (because of compiz 2D/3D acceleration)
  - any other software using direct rendering (e.g. VLC)

  Workaround:
  - Disable window animations in Compiz reduces the frequency of the crashes.
Use compizconfig-settings-manager for this tweak (sudo apt-get install
compizconfig-settings-manager)

  [original description below]

I get crashes, when I open a new window in an already started
application. It happens irregularely, but I can force the crash if I
open several new message windows in thunderbird. But it also happens
in other applilcations, for example a new terminal window.

This is the output during the crash in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Many users will put different windows in different workspaces for better work
flow. If a user connects and/or disconnects an external monitor or projector,
all of these windows will be put in the first workspace. Having to go back and
move all of the windows back to their workspaces is very frustrating and time
consuming.

  [Test Case]
#. Open some applications in different workspaces.
#. Plug in an external monitor.

  [Regression Potential]
Very low possibility that a window still ends up in the wrong workspace.

  Original description:
well, i plug in my external screen.

expected behaviour would be, if all of my windows would stay in the
workspaces i aligned them to, and if they'd be on the same screen i
had them in the first place.

unfortunatly in unity, if i plug-in (or plug-off) my external screen
the windows are all around, but not where i'd expect them to be
(namely in the same place they were before). so i always have to
toggle expo-mode and re-align all of my windows.

So much about LTS. Can anyone confirm this will ever be fixed or should
we just abandon Linux since this is total showstopper in my company and

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2013-05-09 Thread Robert Hrovat
Few weeks ago we moved from 10.04 to 12.04 at work. Mostly because of
newer machines had problems with older kernels (no SATA, no sound). I
have to admit that 10.04 was light years away from 12.04 when it comes
to stability. There was mean time between crashes measured in weeks,
when 12.04 can have 10 crashes in one hour. It's really disappointing.
Right now I'm upgrading kernel to 3.2.0-41 and hoping it will fix
freezes and crashes before coleagues at work crucifies me.

Will report after few days if that helped. If not, I have no clue what
will I do since I'm running out of options. So if anyone can help me
pointing in right direction or what can I do to help developers find and
kill this annoying bug, I'm here.

Oh and those 60 machines at work are all from DELL, models Optiplex
380SFF, 390 SFF and 1030SFF. Just what's built in, with Intel graphics
and all runing on Gnome Classic - no Unity. All machines are connected
to network and has mounted Samba and NFS shares, each one of 100 users
uses mostly Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Audacity, VLC and some
custom developed software.

Ironicaly Ubuntu HCL lists those machines as compatible when clearly
they far from that.

Bug description:
  Hi,
I am running on Ubuntu 12.04 and I have two problems
  1) phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error - MCU request failed, no response from
hardware
I was trying to solve it for almost a year, I googled my a.. off and no
solution seems to be working ???
  2) [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR* Power management discrepancy:
GEN6_RP_INTERRUPT_LIMITS expected 1700, was 1206
This one showed up right after the 3.2.0-40-generic upgrade yesterday.

  Few things you might need:
My ethernet is working and my wireless is too BUT sometimes the laptop (HP
Pavilion g6) wont connect after suspend nor reboot the driver from the keyboard
button, sometimes it freezes after waking from suspend so I have to suspend it
and wake it again.
