[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2047777] [NEW] Large PDF Only Goes up to 17% Zoom

2024-01-01 Thread Vasco Alves
Public bug reported:

As per title, when opening this fairly large PDF (attached) Evince will
only allow me to zoom as far as 17%. Can't go anything above that, much
less displaying full-size.

This isn't a bug in Poppler, as other software which uses poppler is
able to display it as normal (e.g. Zathura does it perfectly).

I have this issue too. It is not a bug with poppler, as other poppler
based pdf readers like Zathura can handle it perfectly.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1630181] [NEW] Solver for Non-Linear Programming Gone in Yakkety

2016-10-04 Thread Vasco Alves
Public bug reported:

As the title says. This used to be provided by a separate source
package, nlpsolver .

This is gone in both Debian Sid and Yakkety. In debian, they have
integrated this into the libreoffice source, which now provides the deb
libreoffice-nlpsolver which used to come from nlpsolver. This has not
been brought into the Ubuntu version however.

Simple fix would be to copy the relevant packaging from debian.

** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Title:
[USB-Audio - USB Sound Blaster HD, playback] fails after reboot

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
To get the sound card to work, I have to go through this complicated
  process of:

  1) Starting the computer without the card plugged in;
  2) Plugging it in;
  3) At this point, it does NOT work. I have to select it in the audio
settings, try to make it lay a test sound, which it fails, and then select the
on-board sound;
  4) Reboot with onboard sound selected. Just logging out does NOT work;
  5) After reboot, select USB Analogue Output, and it will work, however
  6) After a subsequent reboot, it will fail again, and I have to unplug the
card and reboot again, starting the whole cycle over.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1154054] Re: Pull nlpsolver in via libreoffice meta package

2013-05-28 Thread Vasco Alves
Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I think you misunderstand my issue though. The
bug report is not about nlpsolver being in a separate binary package/not
being pulled out by the metapackage. It's about it being in a separate
*source* package, despite actually being in the upstream LibreOffice
source tarball. Sorry if I wasn't clear!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1154054] [NEW] Drop separate package for the Non-Linear Solver and include it in the LibreOffice Source Package

  Binary package hint: thunderbird

Running thunderbird with the Firetray plugin. Clicking the close button in
thunderbird does not kill thunderbird but sends it to the background, but Unity
thinks the app is closed (the little arrow(s) don't show anymore).
When opening again from Unity, it recognized the app as running, but the
menus (File, Edit, etc) fail to show in the top bar when the mouse is brought
up there. The only way to get it back is to kill thunderbird and restart it.

Disabling the firetray plugin, which doesn't work with Unity anyway,
fixes this problem. However, it would be great to have a tray icon by
  the session menu.

Title:
Empathy Call depends on libcheese, but dependency is not aknowledged
  by package

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The new Empathy Call interface, which is in Universe and not installed by
default, depends on libcheese-gtk21 (and build depends on libcheese-gtk-dev )
as can be seen by checking the debian packages (debian does not split call into
a separate package):
  http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/empathy
  http://packages.debian.org/source/wheezy/empathy

And yet, the empathy-call package in Ubuntu does not depend on
libcheese-gtk21. I'm pretty sure it looks for libcheeses's presence at
runtime, because the Call interface works - I use it regularly - but
if you didn't happen to have cheese already installed, and atempted to
install empathy-cal, it wouldn't pull in the required libraries,
  leaving it non-functional.

Fix: add libcheese-gtk21 to empathy-call depends.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1016846] Re: Empathy Call depends on libcheese, but dependency is not aknowledged by package

2012-06-26 Thread Vasco Alves
I see. Well, that's the thing, it IS working for me with that lib
installed, and I thought the call UI had a hard dependency on it, so I
figured it WAS built with cheese support. In that case, this seems to me
a bug in its own right. Now that clutter will be on the CD, would there
be support for me filing a bug to get it back in main, so we could get
the full Empathy functionality?

a separate package):

  http://packages.debian.org/source/wheezy/empathy

And yet, the empathy-call package in Ubuntu does not depend on
libcheese-gtk21. I'm pretty sure it looks for libcheeses's presence at
runtime, because the Call interface works - I use it regularly - but
if you didn't happen to have cheese already installed, and atempted to
install empathy-cal, it wouldn't pull in the required libraries,
  leaving it non-functional.

Fix: add libcheese-gtk21 to empathy-call depends.

  Impact:
libreoffice database odb file open in file-roller rather than libreoffice

  Test case:
  - Create a new database file (foo.odb) using LibreOffice Base (or download
the one from comment #3)
  - Open foo.odb via dash home / recent files or double click on it in nautilus

With the fixed version it should open with libreoffice-base

  Regression potential:
  - the odb files could open with the wrong application still

  ---

Since the odb extension is associated with Archive Manager (alias File
Roller) as a default, I got a nice error at this point.

If I open Nautilis and correct the file association to LibreOffice,
the above steps work OK, as expected. The question is: why was the odf
extension by default associated with the Archive Manager application?
