Somehow it ended up with a SNAPSHOT txt file that was empty, which just
kept erroring out. When I removed it, for some reason it didn't help. I
couldn't figure it out, and it was only when I pointed it at the valid
m2 repo that it started working. As for the settings.xml, that was so
they could both talk to codehaus as that's where the necessary deps
were, but I've taken that out.

I think it's sane that continuum should pass on its local repo and
settings file to m2 anyway so that they share the same info. Symlinking
was a bit crude, but it seems to be working.

So you're symlinking the settings.xml provided by continuum so that the
installed m2 uses it?

I agree they should be in sync but I think the instance of Continuum
running should use the m2 installed on the machine. So maybe we need to
know where it lives so that Continuum can use those settings. People
will have to be made aware of the context in which continuum and m2 are
being used. Or we could include a version of m2 in the bundle.

Flaw in maven-scm-api command line expansion

2005-05-27 Thread dan tran
Folks,

Most of maven-scm-api commands like checkin, add, tag, changelog has a
ScmFileSet argument which ultimately expands into a list of individual
files on a command line. The finally command line becomes very long,
huge, so huge
for a larget project (like my legacy project).

I know for sure, it will break on windows and could be on unixes.

May this is the main reason, why a number of implementations just
simply ignore the ScmFileSet, and goes for the default which
most SCM systems consider as ${basedir}

Any thought?

it is using the installed m2 to execute the builds, but it's fetching of
poms is being done itself with its own repo and settings, which is where
the hurdles crept in. I think bundling m2 is a good idea for later.

plexus.bat doesn't start Continuum on Windows XP

 Project: Continuum
Type: Bug
  Components: continuum-core
Versions: 1.0-alpha-2

 Fix For: 1.0-alpha-3
 Attachments: plexus.bat

The getting started instruction tell you to start Continuum by running
bin\plexus.bat on a Windows machine, but when I tried to run that BAT file
all I got was a message Usage: plexus.bat xml. The bin/plexus.sh works
fine from Cygwin, but the plexus.bat file wasn't passing the configuration
argument to Launcher.

If the following variables are added to the end of the :endInit section, the
BAT script will start Continuum successfully:

SET PLEXUS_CONF=%PLEXUS_HOME%\conf
SET CONF=%PLEXUS_CONF%\plexus.xml
SET PLEXUS_CMD_LINE_ARGS=%CONF% %PLEXUS_CMD_LINE_ARGS%

I've attached my plexus.bat to this issue.

Is this a bug, or am I just doing something stupid?

I tried a jar:jar from the project root but this did not have the desired

 2) + error You must define currentVersion in your POM.

I'm very new to maven but anxious to learn ... could you give me a little

Richard,

svn uses http protocol, so if your comp allows internet
access you should be
able to retreive the source.

About doc, I see none, but api is quite clean. If you
  are familiar
with either CVS and SVN, looking at the provider
  implementation will
give you some starting point.

In starteam, when I want work against all of files under a directory
(ie ScmFileSet without excludes and includes), I dont have to pass in
anything to command line

In order to detect this condition, I need a ability in ScmFileSet api to give me
an indication if the user uses either excludes or includes

This definitily will solve some large cli due to fileset expansion

Can I?

Stack API for XML (StAX) is an event-based interface for XML parsing, very
similar to Simple API for XML (SAX). However, instead of passing parse events
for a whole document to a single ContentHandler, sub-trees can easily be
delegated to other handlers. StAX also provides an event-based interface for
the process of mapping XML ids to java objects.
  http://stax.sf.net/
Please note there is a name collision between this project and Streaming API
for XML (StAX). Our project predates the newer StAX by several years but we
were unable to convince them to reconsider their choice of project name. No
problem though, they have a lot more weight behind their project.
The groupId for this project's pom is set to net.sf.stax, same as the
package, but I'm not sure how this is taken into consideration for the 1.x
 maven repo.
Please let me know if there is anything about the pom I should do
 differently. Thank you.

Log:
Added inheritance of Plugins according to the rules we decided upon. This
consists of:

- inheritanceApplied flag on Plugin and Goal (NOT fields, just a code-only flag)
- flushGoalMap/flushPluginMap to clear caching of these calculated attributes
- ModelUtils.mergePluginLists() and ModelUtils.mergePluginDefinitions() for use
in both
* DefaultModelInheritanceAssembler (Plugin/PluginManagement lists)
* DefaultModelDefaultsInjector (PluginManagement - Plugin merges)

- Also added a few unit tests for basic Plugin inheritance stuff. This could be
more thoroughly tested...

Log:
o changed the inheritanceApplied flag to be set by default, and unset if the
plugin is merged to the child without inherit/ being specified...this makes
it work with isolated POMs.
o changed the semantics of when the unsetInheritanceApplied() method is
called...it's now only when inherit/ is NOT set.
o changed the default inheritByDefault attribute on MojoDescriptor to be true
o added inheritByDefault to PluginDescriptor (even though we don't have tools
supporting it yet), with semantics identical to MojoDescriptor
o added generator/builder support for the inheritByDefault attribute of
PluginDescriptor
o added calculation of inheritanceApplied || inheritByDefault to lifecycle
executor before allowing plugins/mojos to bind.
o Everything builds, but we need some sort of IT to test the finer points.
