Hi all,

do we have an agreement to merge the branch from Jan to have at least basic
support for Java 10?

Thanks

Not if we do this by pull request and not direct commits to upstream
master.

Re: AW: Automating website publishing

2018-03-07 Thread Antonio

Hi,

The problem I have with publishing whenever master is updated is that if
somebody solves many typos & makes many commits we'll end up with many
builds. That wastes ASF resources.

A periodic build, on the other hand, wastes ASF resources... well,
periodically :-)

What I mean is that I don't know which be less wasteful: a build per
commit or a periodic build. :-?

Thanks
Antonio

Hi all,

I've just submitted https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-16157 to
INFRA to request a Jenkins job that publishes
https://netbeans.apache.org (copying the resulting website from master
to the asf-site branch)

I don't know how often that should be run. Some possibilities I can
think of:

a) Whenever 'master' is updated.
b) On demand.
c) Each X days.

Ideas? Opinions?

Thanks,
Antonio

I’d be fine with a daily update at a specific time, e.g., 18.00 CET for
example.

So people are aware, I've updated the wiki page again with the current
manual process for getting updates on to the live website, as and until we
have an automated build on commit.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/JBake-based+solution

You don't have to follow my instructions to the letter - I just find the
two clones approach easiest to handle at the moment. The important thing
is where the output of the build command gets put, and the need for two PRs
- let's keep the branches in sync!

Also note the requirement for --rerun-tasks - sass build task needs fixing
as previously discussed.

Best wishes,

Neil

I would add to the requirements that the use of the "Apache NetBeans
Day" name is subject to explicit approval of the NetBeans PPMC,
documented on this list.

Now that http://netbeans.apache.org/ is up, don't you think that kind
of persistent information belong there?

My perception is that a wiki is more for work-in-progress information,
if the PPMC shares that feeling I would suggest gradually moving all
such things to http://netbeans.apache.org/

> ...Do we need to vote on that as well?...

What you need is documented consensus from the PPMC, votes are not
required. The simplest way to establish that IMO is with a [LAZY] vote
thread to accept that page (or ideally the new page under
http://netbeans.apache.org/) as the PPMC's current view on that.
