Hello Lay --

I took a look at this Forum discussion. I can not enlighten you, but it
would help us a great deal if you could file a bug issue for this problem.

There are some other issues related to cutting and pasting and clipboard
already. It would help if we had more specific examples to investigate this
and fix these problems.

It is possible to do bulk operations on the result sets of a Bugzilla
query. This includes resetting the assigned developer. So if we can
query for it, we can change it.

In fact, last year I did quite a bit of this, resetting the assignee

There is also a way for BZ admins to disable temporarily the email

Use the section Custom search. There you can set for example:
Time Since Assignee Touched is greater then 1200d
AND
Assignee is not equal to
iss...@openoffice.apache.org

Of cause in the upper part restrict it to those issues not already fixed
or closed.

1200d results in more than 900 bugs.
Perhaps you want to restrict it to a range of BugID or to special Products.
There are some false positive, but perhaps it is a start.

Before setting back assignee make sure, that no notification mails where
sent, to not spam.

branch aw080 resynched

2013-07-27 Thread Armin Le Grand

Hi all,

I have resynched aw080 for further working on it to the trunk (close to
AOO400). I can build now on win7 and will commit on the weekend (since
it's big and I do not want to block svn too long during the week). I
still have to do some basic work on it to get it back to the state I
left it when going to AOO400 and sidebar, but it's in progress ;-) Too
early to get, build and test, but continued help will be appreciated and
I will give a sign here ;-)

I wanted to ask where in the wiki (and in which one) I should/can add
some more infos on it which I have, for interest and for reference. Any
suggestions...? There is something on
'http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Aw080_documentation' already, add new
stuff there or move...?

Sincerly,

At least here in this dev@ not everybody is a developer and works on

I think its important, that issues not being worked on are kept in the
global pool so it is obvious that anyone can work on it.

In the main instance, it's not possible to assign issues, because once
they have been assigned, Bugzilla only sends change notifications to
 the new assignee.

I thought it was possible to make a report containing all issues not
touched a year and not assigned to iss...@openoffice.apache.org, and
 then
use this report as basis for a script (or what its called in BZ) that
 assigns the issues to iss...@openoffice.apache.org

It was not a question of where the mails get sent to, but more to have an
updated list of who works on what.

 Yes, I realise that.

But should you be allowing issues to be assigned away from the
 devloper list at all?

We have a dedicated mailing list only for BZ issues. That should be enough.
Everybody who is interested in these mails can subscribe there.

Yes.

Does it not matter that changes to such issues are no longer reported
 to the developer list?

They were never reported to dev@. And, to be honest, I would not prefer it.
We have sometimes more than 200 mails from issues per day. Do you want to
have them all on a dev@ mailing list? ;-)

Yes - by that I mean a mailing list that devs can subscribe to; does
not have to be the dev discussion list.

At least here in this dev@ not everybody is a developer and works on code.
I'm sure that is different with other Apache projects.

Sorry, I was a bit lax: when I wrote the devloper list, I meant the
developer list used for BZ mails

 Marcus

Or maybe that particular Bugzilla 'feature' has been fixed in your
 Bugzilla?

Easy enough to check - create a dummy issue and assign it; make some
changes and see where the mails get sent.

Infra has indeed been very helpfull in keeping our forum server alive, in

I have been thinking about making a wiki page, which list all our services

 - Who is maintaining UI etc. (typically many people)

 Would that be helpfull ?

I think that both are acceptable, but there's no need to display
trademark attribution for all the length of the video. It will be enough
to have them in the closing credits, maybe with the longer version that
is in the http://www.openoffice.org/ page footer.

Then there is what would be the body of the piece - a full white
background, as this logo really doesn't work to well otherwise it seems to
me.
1 - I assume the logo is not an issue here, but thought I'd double check.
2 - I changed the ASF tagline to blue, as you can see
2a - I wonder if I may drop that (the ASF tagline) on the body frames,
leaving it on the opening and then bringing it back for the credits at the
end, as I will include sub-titles with this piece (in English) and that
space would be the place for these to display of course.

Yes, it is just visual noise to keep it visible for all the video.

Anyway, that is enough for now and to get things started.

It's a good start!

Right, this would be much more helpful than having nothing.

[Request for help][Download] Download AOO via mobile devices?

2013-07-27 Thread Marcus (OOo)
Sometimes we get comments from users like I cannot find AOO for my
iPhone or similar.

Instead of leaving them alone I've started to update the DL scripting to
recognize platforms and operating systems that AOO does not support. But
instead of give an error back or just do nothing, the scripting shows
that the release for the (hopefully currectly) recognized platform / OS
is not available and points to the other.html webpage.

Now I would like to ask you to test this with devices and OSes you have
available to see how it works and where it has to be improved:

http://ooo-site.staging.apache.org/download/test/index.html

a) Is the device or OS recognized and stated correctly?
b) Which combinations are not recognized and instead the term unknown
OS is shown?

Please remember:
The analyze webpage will help to see what is recognized and actually shown:

http://ooo-site.staging.apache.org/download/test/analyze.html

Please open BZ issues for these problems:

Indeed, and if he has any update I'll make sure to upload a new version.

Marcus what about updating the feature section?

 You means this text?

 Features
Cross platform (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X)
  170+ Languages
  Extensions available
  Commercial support available

I would also add a line with Templates available as it is linked on the
 bottom of the webpage.

What about a short summary of all the new features enlisted in the release
 notes?

Good idea. However, it's difficult to select the best choices. The
following is my suggestion. If anyone has another, feel free to add or
 correct:

 New Features and Enhancements
 - New Sidebar
 - Interoperability Improvements for Text Documents, Spreadhseet Documents,
Presentation Documents and OOXML file format in general
 - DrawObject Improvements/Enhancements
   - New Color Palette
   - New Gradients
   - New Gallery Themes and Gallery enhancements
   - Refined the Selection Handles User Interface
   - Refined Selection Visualization
   - Better Print Preview
   - Enhanced conversion to Bitmap Graphics
   - Enhanced FillType 'Bitmap'
   - Enhanced Copy/Paste
   - Enhanced DragDrop
   - Adapt LineStart/End to LineWidth
   - SVG Export enhancements
   - SVG/Metafile Break improvements
   - SVG Import improvements
   - Picture Crop mode offers preview
   - Unified visualization of ColorPalette popups
   - Transparency support for pixel formats (PNG)
   - Connectors support rotation
   - Corrected Hatch fill style visualization
   - Better gradient support in metafiles
 - Calc and Chart Improvements/Enhancements
   - Support relative Pie Chart Height:
   - New Functions
 - AVERAGEIFS, COUNTIFS, SUMIFS, XOR, LEFTB, RIGHTB, LENB, MIDB and
RAND (reimplemented to use the Mersenne-Twister algorithm)
 - Extensions Improvements/Enhancements
   - New Toolbar management
   - Unified menu API
 - Performance Improvements/Enhancements
   - Many resource leaks were fixed.
   - Speedup of Graphic Rendering
 - Additional Language Support
 - Changes that Impact Backwards Compatibility
   - Module binfilter removed (legacy StarOffice file formats (.sdw, .sdc,
 .sdd, etc.)
   - Python support updated
   - Support for system C++ STL

Ok, added them all, maybe we do want to order them a bit (for example
setting the New Toolbar management in an higher position)?

If possible from the webpage frontend point-of-view add a possibility to
expand and collapse this area, e.g., with + and - signs - like it is done
 with the Additional details text.

Actually all features are shown.

And a link to the release notes at the end like Click here to get the
 complete text would be great.

Maybe we could use the External link tool?
https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/documentation/External%20Link/

Also at least a new screenshot with the sidebar would be great.

Sure, let me know if you need any help

The lack of compatibility is somehow implicit if you read that a given
extension is compatible with OpenOffice 3.3 or AOO 3.4 and it doesn't
mention AOO 4.0. See below about how to make sure such info is up-to-date.

For the record, in the case of the Lorem ipsum extension, the author
 doesn't
seem to be willing to update it...

If an extension is essentially abandoned then it is only a matter of
time before it breaks. Either that or we put ourselves into a
position where we can never evolve and improve our API. We should
focus on the needs of active extension developers, not the inactive
 ones.

This is what we did to keep extension authors in the loop:

 1) We created a special mailing list, a...@openoffice.apache.org for
 discussions about extensions.

 2) We worked with SourceForge to send an email to all registered
extension authors to invite them to the new list. This was done
before the *.openoffice.org email forwarder was shut down, so they all
 should have received the note.

We might resend an email to all Extensions' authors re-inviting them to
subscribe to the API mailing-list and also inviting them to check if their
extensions do work with AOO 4.0 and eventually update their extension page
accordingly.

Does it sound like a plan?

Roberto

 3) We announce the 4.0 API changes on the API list and answered any
 questions that came up.

True, not everyone is happy about the changes. But we tried to ensure
that every active extension author was aware of the changes coming.

Tutorials for Apache OpenOffice 4.0 are not finished. You find some
starts in http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Documentation/Draft.

Another good reference are the Tutorials sections of the forum

You are likely looking for basics. In this case you can use older
tutorials and tutorials for LibreOffice as well. Those were produced by
odfauthors http://www.odfauthors.org. You need not to have a login for
getting the published files.

Do not hesitate to ask. Find ways to support on

Make sure you download from the official website:

http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html

And you should compare the MD5 checksum of the downloaded file with the hash
value from this file:
