Re: [Dev] [IS] Shall We Link Corresponding IS Documentation as Context Sensitive Help Pages in IS Management Console?

2017-09-11 Thread Samuel Gnaniah
If the user needs to refer to the documentation to fill a form in the UI,
that means the UI is not intuitive enough for the user. Better UX is a
better and more sustainable solution, even if it means a wider set of
changes in the short term.

Re: [Dev] [IS] Shall We Link Corresponding IS Documentation as Context Sensitive Help Pages in IS Management Console?

2017-08-30 Thread Samuel Gnaniah
Our strategy here is to remove these help links and walk through the UI
with the dev team to make the UIs and forms easier to configure without
requiring additional documentation. This is the stragety we are following
for all products.

I checked the readme in Github and it doesn't have any content added. Is it
possible to provide tested steps for this for documentation?

Also, will this be common to all C5 products or is it only for IS?

I thought we recommend two nodes for minimum deployment in production
environments. Normally we document the minimum recommended deployment
pattern for production. Should we be documenting the configurations for 1
node as well?

 Hi Sajith,

It should be either hostname/ip-address or OK to send in value null so
that internally it gets the originated IP address from message context.
Updated the linked doc with 'null' value passed in. This will work.

Is this correct? If it's not hostname/ip-address what should be it?

 Please advice.

svn issue. Anyhow, throwing such ERRORs at startup is not right. So if
these are harmless errors we can make them warnings instead without
printing a whole stack trace like this?

However, in this case, what I feel is that there can be functionality

I have experienced this scenario, according to my observations we do not
throw any exceptions. If user is already provisioned simple ignore
 provisioning.

 1. Secondary user store configurations can be considered artefacts and

Re: [Dev] [BAM][Cassandra] Exception when browsing the keyspace from BAM 2.4.1 - Cassandra clustered

2014-07-28 Thread Samuel Gnaniah
Hi,

I've modified step 5 in [1] to read as follows. Please review.

   1.

Optionally in order to view the cluster information in the Cassandra
Keyspaces List UI, add a file named *cassandra-endpoint.xml*in
   BAM_HOME/repository/conf/etc with following configuration. The
*cassandra-endpoint.xml* file is required when deploying the backend
Cassandra cluster in a IaaS like AWS. IaaS may not provide real IPs, hence
it is necessary to use this configuration file to list the mapped real IPs.
   Cassandra
EndPoints
   EndPointHostNamename_of_machine1(BAM N1)/HostName/EndPoint
   EndPointHostNamename_of_machine2(BAM N2)/HostName/EndPoint
/EndPoints
   /Cassandra

When configuring an external Cassandra cluster, you must additionally
enable clustering in the BAM_HOME/repository/conf/axis2/axis2.xml file.
   clustering class=
   org.wso2.carbon.core.clustering.hazelcast.HazelcastClusteringAgent
   enable=true

 hi Doc team/ Deep,

I guess for the point five Optionally in order to view the cluster

 configuration should also be added.

We need to enable Axis2 clustering when there is an external Cassandra
 cluster.

cassandra-endpoint.xml is needed when we deploy the backend Cassandra
cluster in a IaaS like AWS. Most of the time IaaS does not provide real IPs
therefore we have to use this config file to list the mapped real IPs.

Re: [Dev] Configuring Primary User Stores improvement

2014-07-16 Thread Samuel Gnaniah
The process to do all three is very similar though. IMO it's better to have
it all in one topic so that it's less repetitive. However, I agree that
it's better to make it simpler for novice users.

Johann/Pushpalanka, thoughts on this?

 3) Configuring JDBC as a primary user store.

Current document cover above all, but it is bit difficult to use for

Re: [Dev] Concern in configuring IS as key manager doc

This version of the clustering guide is aimed at all WSO2 products that are
based on Carbon 4.2.0 (and that includes IS 4.6.0 and APIM 1.6), so
Lahiru's suggestion has merit IMO.

If we can identify the differences, I can work on integrating them into the

Hi Uvindra,

I've created a JIRA for the clustering docs (see [1]) so you needn't
recreate that. Please create doc JIRAs for such issues going forward.

 Hi Uvindra,

I think it's better to create JIRAs for these.

 1. In Carbon Project, add Jira to add defaultAutoCommit to default
 datasources.
 2. In API Manager project, add Jira to add defaultAutoCommit to AM
 datasource.
 3. Documentation Jira to update the docs

Will you be able to create these?

Currently unless you have prior knowledge of it, its not obvious that such

Also why isnt it available by default and always set to false in all
data sources? There is no reason to have auto commit turned on in this case.

With relaxAutoCommit=true, we just suppress the exception in MySQL.

Ideally we should disable the auto commit from the data source
 configuration.

 Try adding
 defaultAutoCommitfalse/defaultAutoCommit.

I'm not sure about the impact this will have in components other than
API Manager. If other components rely on Auto Commit, there will be
 issues.

APIM Team, how should this be handled in with other databases, such as
 PostgreSQL

We are not depending on autocommit within our DAO logic. We have
explicit transaction commit blocks. (This also applies to Registry and UM).
Hence autocommit should always be set to false as Nuwan has given.

Docs Team, Important configurations such as defaultAutoCommit are
missing in Carbon docs [1]. We need to add all configs, other than the
elements we have master-datasources.xml by default.

Yes, this should be REGISTRY_DB where this is the database shared across
all the master/workers nodes. You can identify that by looking in the
mounting configurations, where the same datasource is being used.

Yes Dushan, this is a known fact. When ELB is restarted, you will have to
restart all other nodes unless you have another WKA member in your cluster.
As AmilaM mentioned, this can either be another ELB or a Mgt/Wrk node.

You need to have at least one WK member in a given time when you are
dealing with hazelcast. If ELB is the only WK member in your setup, when
you restart the ELB, others will never join the ELB until they are
 restarted.

To get this working, ELB also should have a WK member (can be the ESB
mgt node) and workers should have both ELB and MGT node as WK members.

AFAIK QA team is aware of this. If you want, talk to IsuruW.

 joining back

FYI : QA team please do verify this..

we are facing some critical issues such as,

 1) Schema disagreement issues while the nodes in a Cassandra cluster
are hit with concurrent schema changes

 2) Schema inconsistencies present caused by failures of nodes/network
bridges that connect the nodes, etc.

In Cassandra 1.2.x, those issues are fixed and it also has some new
 features such as vnodes.

With the version upgrade, there will be changes in following areas of
 our implementations.

 1) Authentication and Authorization extensions

In Cassandra 1.1 we had only *READ* and *WRITE* permissions, but 1.2
 supports all following permissions.

*CREATE, ALTER, DROP, SELECT, MODIFY, AUTHORIZE *

 2) Cassandra monitoring API

There are method signature changes in Cassandra mBean Operations.

We are planing to release this new version with chunk-03. If there are
 any concerns please reply.

 Thanks,

IMO It doesn't make much sense having a feature in there which wouldn't get
shipped with this release. Instead of having a note, it might be best to
