Can I presume the frequency you quoted is the LSB dial frequency when using 1600Hz and 1800Hz as the tone pair?? I've converted that to the 2210Hz tones centre that the PK232 uses and am printing some stations.. -- Vy 73 de Hal--W8MCHUNIX-GNU/Linux - Slackware 11.0, 2.4.33.3 .

In fact, I'll host it on my website if some kind soul will find it, scan it, and make the softcopy available to me. I had expected that the judge in any appeal would view PRB-1 and any state statute (section 65680.3 of the Government Code, in this instance) as supporting the ham in the action, and this judge did exactly that, which is good. He put the cherry on top, though, by declaring the City Council decision to be an abuse of discretion and by noting that the City's brief is based on local ordinances with only a passing reference to the statute. That's a pretty good slap on the sensitive parts for the Council and their attorney, who *REALLY* should have known better. Now, when's MixW going to get code to support RSID? Many's the time I've found myself fishing for the right settings in Olivia or some other digimode. -- Mike Andrews, W5EGO mi...@mikea.ath.cx Tired old sysadmin
[digitalradio] QST article about RS-ID
I have composed article for Steve Ford at ARRL/QST about RS-ID. Due to the heavy load at QST ( many feature articles in the pipe-line ) and advice from Steve, I wrote the article for inclusion in his column, Eclectic Technology. This limits the submission to 700 words. Accordingly, I have focused on the utility of RS-ID rather than the technical details. The article will reference additional reading on the technical details and also provides reference to current applications that implemented RS-ID. Am I correct in listing the following Pocketdigi Multipsk Fldigi DM780 Did I miss any applications ? Acknowledgement is given to Patrick for his pioneering work, and Vojtech, Dave/Skip, and Simon for their collaboration. I will also reference Tony's you tube video and include some pictures for Steve to consider. The article should meet the August 1st deadline for November QST. Andy K3UK
Re: [digitalradio] Get more out of digital with RISD
My experience with RSID over the past 24 hours has been very positive. I see many more stations using RSID and would assume this has much to do with the recent release of DRM 780. I take it that RSID is enabled by default. Please correct me if am wrong on this as I don't run DRM 780. I have made it point to use RSID any time I am using a mode other that PSK31 or RTTY. I use fldigi which sends the RSID both in the beginning and at the end of a transmission. Additionally, I used the RSID detection feature of fldigi and I did not encounter any issues to date. The RSID feature seems to work as advertised. I would say that 90 percent of the QSOs that I have had over the past 24 hours were with stations who were experiencing mode such as DominoEX for the first time and this was aided by the RSID feature. RSID just worked for them. I am sure you all will agree that when using a new mode for the first time, it is important that the experience be a positive one - success drives enthusiasm. For any station that I worked that was using RSID when calling CQ, I pointed it out to them that this was how I figured out what mode they were running and thanked them for using RSID. This had two effects. One, was that they may have not known they were using RSID or two, they were not sure of RSID was working or not. Either way it was a positive reinforcement on the use of the RSID feature. philw de ka1gmn
Re: [digitalradio] City attempts to shut down ham radio .... !!
I can't find that link. I know there was to be an amassing of local hams at their meeting last night. The city council was apparently intending to 'brute force' this onto their agenda and bury it. I've not heard anything from anyone locally yet. I'll pass it along as soon as I can. Their ordinance is not a joke, unfortunately it's real. The local governments here feel they are above the law and are out to prove it for some reason. Another nearby city (Lancaster) has implemented a $500 fine if you have weeds in your yard or haven't mowed it in a while from what I've been told. Try a different link. http://forums.qrz.com/showpost.php?p=1632618&postcount=179 It referenceses something more useful than YouTube, too. excerpt: Any use permit for a ham radio antenna shall include a condition that it shall be inspected annually to certify its safety and to verify that liability insurance is in effect and also that the ham radio equipment may be inspected without prior notice upon the receipt by the City of a complaint that the radio operation is causing interference with neighbors electronic devices due to the use of higher wattage than allowed by the FCC. The City shall provide this inspection service at applicantÂ’s cost. Permittees shall pay an annual inspection fee adopted by Resolution of the City Council in an amount sufficient to reimburse the City for an inspector qualified to inspect amateur radio equipment. What this has to do with digital modes, however, I can't say!
