Thanks for the input, I did suspect that the SB2 may just be dying. However, some further investigation showed that my wireless signals weren't particularly good. I suspect the wireless was dropping out at regular intervals. I guess this could have been causing the reboots? I've moved the channels on the wireless and things seem a little better for now, but I'll keep an eye on things. Changing topic slightly, when I moved the wireless channel up above about 9, then the SB2 and Controller completely failed to lock on. I suspect that the Dlink router may be the culprit here, cos the SB2 and Controller should work on any channel shouldn't they? They're both correctly set to Europe for the location. Hi all, I have updated both FooSQ and FooID. I have changed the function by which the script recognises whether FB2K is still running, this should fix the following occasional bugs: 1. Playback continues after FB2K has exited. 2. After stopping playback in FB2K and exiting FB2K, playback for the current track restarts at the beginning. For the geeks, I'm now using the WinExists function instead of checking whether WinGetTitle returns 0. I know it's a bother, but do try a hardwired connection -- just for now. It's an all volunteer effort here. Nobody (well, almost nobody, hehe) works for Logitech. Laptops and Signal Strength are not proof of a good or interference free WiFi Network. Never have been, never will be. Streaming Audio and Video are the two hardest things a WiFi network can do. So what if you drop a packet or two while surfing or doing email, it just gets resent as web and email are not real time dependent, streaming audio is. The reason Logitech keeps pointing at ones Network is that 95% of the problems are with ones own Network. All the other people that don't have problems would be having problems also if it were the Squeezebox or MYSB.com. It could be the Router, it could be the setup, it could be the ISP, it could be a program one loaded on the PC last week, it could be the WiFi channel selected, or interference. And the fact that her ports will not pass traffic, its most likely her Network or setup. It is illogical to claim that since it worked before its can't be her Router or ISP. That is like trying to say her car started 10 years ago the last time she used it, it should start now, even though the battery is now dead but its the same one and all the fuel has evaporated. If people are not willing to troubleshoot and provide information Forum Members ask for, then we can't help them. Using Ethernet cuts the problem in half. If it works with Ethernet, then we can eliminate that its a bad Squeezebox (other then WiFi Card), not the Internet, not the Server, not the Router. It basically puts it all on the WiFi setup or Squeezebox WiFi Card. By WiFi, I mean it could be interference, poor channel selection, bad card, bad WiFi router, improper setup, poor router placement selection. [slim] Any way to stop Squeezebox Classic from switching off?
Hi, I have a Squeezebox Classic which I love. I'm moving house right now and we have no fixed-line broadband. I'm using a Huawei E585 mobile broadband router. Re: [slim] Any way to stop Squeezebox Classic from switching off?
The SB3/Classic is a slim (ie, dumb) client. It literally doesn't know the time of day, and has to get that information from a server. That server could be mysqueezebox.com, or SBServer running on your computer. If you set an alarm and it loses the connection to the server (either mysb.com via the internet or local SBS) then the alarm will not trigger. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83888 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Any way to stop Squeezebox Classic from switching off?
The SB3/Classic must be connected to a server to function. No server (SBS on your computer or MySB.com online) then no clack nor alarm. After doing some reading on MySQL performance tuning, it looks like innodb_buffer_pool_size, if memory permits, should be set to 110% of the database size. If you have a MySQL user setup you can use a SQL query to get the size of the DB. Otherwise, just look at the size of the ibdata file. In windows, that's in -...\Cache\MySQL\-. So, for instance, my ibdata file shows as 247,808K (242M), so I set innodb_buffer_pool to 267M. -- bobkoure bobkoure's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14646 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70371 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Radio streaming stops intermittently
I had given up with this thread, but since you raise it again, I take some time to give my thoughts about this problem. I find astonishing than somebody can say that a thread which title is Radio streaming stops intermittently is only about BBC iplayer plugin. Even if in this specific case, it might be so. Anyway as someone who is in the software business, I do consider than the original problem raised in this thread can be related to BBC, but I also do consider that it actually may be due to something else. Squeezeboxes products are prone to rebuffering problems, no matter if that is due to hardware, mysqueezebox.com, firmware, internal plugins, external plugins, or whatever else, I don't know. You will find a lot of posts complaining about that, and there is always a good reason to blame something else than squeezeboxes. I was adviced to open a new thread about that, I am sorry, I gave up. I have the feeling that if I say that I am using a wired connection with a Belkin brand cable, some smart guy will come and say that my rebuffering problem thread is specific to Rebuffering problem specifically related to Belkin brand cables wired squeezeboxes ... Let's face it, squeezeboxes DO HAVE rebuffering problems. I can compare with other software/systems used to listen to internet radios. Rebuffering problems are more frequent, and more annoying with squeezeboxes. When rebuffering also occurs in others systems, the rebuffering time is much longer (actually inacceptably longer in my opinion) with squeezebox than with others systems. I am in the businness of developping commercial softwares for end users. Squeezebox Touch is not a free product, it can be considered as somewhat expensive for a lot of people. This kind of problem should definitly not be treated in this geek way. A paying customer doesn't want to know why it doesn't work. He wants a product that actually work fine, period. I have owned squeezeboxes for several years now. I am in the computers and software business. I switched from SB3 to Touch to use TinySBS. I gave up because TinySBS is definitly not working the way it should, and I came to the conclusion it cannot handle a large library of flac files. I could make it work fine, and wait from time to time, when unexpected rescanning occurs. I won't because I didn't bought this Touch to debug it, or wait 10 minutes when I would like to listen to music. So I use the Touch the way I used my SB3, plus the Touch screen which is nice, plus the better built in dac, and I am fine with that. TinySBS is not mature, I don't want to lose my time with it, and I am satisfied with the Touch without TinySBS. But rebuffering problems are getting worse, it is not serious to deny it. It can work fine for some time (it has actually been working fine for me last weeks). But I regularly have problems, like many other people, and when I have rebuffering problems, it is either - only with squeezebox - or much worse with squeezebox than with others software/systems. -- nicolas75 nicolas75's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15823 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82526 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] The Squeezebox is dead... long live the Squeezebox
This has been discussed numerous times before, although some may have missed it. Discontinuing the Classic was not entirely a Logitech decision, as the VF display used is no longer being manufactured. It was too expensive (the VFD), power hungry and what not. I'm not saying they would not have replaced the Classic anyway, but as it is now, they couldn't possibly have continued it. This is just what I've read around here earlier. For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of the cool look of the display on my Boom. It has a serious no-nonsense look and feel to it. I'm not sure that can be said of the SP generation. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
Dear Christian, Until now, I use directly the menu on my SqueezeTouch. I just receive my Archos 70it. The think I do every day is : At the evening : - choose a random song or playlist to play - put the sleep at 30 minutes At the morning : - shut down the alarm. Is it possible to do this using SqueezeCommander ?
