However the main music menu in Squeezecommander just never loads. I only have search and settings as menu items. Clicking search will even let me find and play music but the other menus (artists etc) never load. The now playing views and control of my player also works OK. I just can't browse music. My server shows twice in the list of servers, once for my Dyndns address and once for the local IP address. When connected via WiFi the dyndns entry shows as a duplicate and I get a message already connected to the server! Please us the local server Joggler Music I tried ignoring the local server and then connnecting to the Dyndns server and weirdly I am unable to connect to the Dyndns entry when I am connected to my local network. I get an error message flash up of java.net.ConnectException: mydyndnsname.dyndns.org/176.xxx.xxx.xxx:9001 - Connection refused the x's in that message are my Internet IP address and the mydyndnsname is my host name. When they initially purchased SB, they sold the high end transporter, etc. It wasn't until later in time that the SB line started suffering. We'll have to wait and see how they deal with the higher-end UE headphone market (as they may mess it up as well). I suspect they don't repair anything. They can replace if they have a stock of replacement TOUCH units. Otherwise, I've seen examples of Logitech simply offering a coupon good for purchase of other logitech products. As with a lot of consumer electronics these days, the Squeezebox players (other than the Transporter) are relatively inexpensive units that are rarely worthy of repair by the company. Even the laptops my employer purchases are treated as almost throwaway items these days (not much different than purchasing pens and pencils and ink cartridgesjust something that will be used up and replaced when needed). For myself, I've simply stocked up on a few backup TOUCH and RADIO units to use should something go out in the next few years. And this is actually highly unlikely, as there is not much to go wrong with a TOUCH or RADIO, short of my house burning down, electrical storm, etc. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96381 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

So all Squeezeboxes will be possible to load an old firmware version by putting the firmware files in the correct LMS directory and then do a firmware update, the difference is just that for Boom/Classic/Receiver/Transporter the firmware is distributed in the LMS installation package while for the Touch/Radio/Controller LMS retrieves the firmware in runtime from mysqueezebox.com if they aren't available in the LMS firmware update directory already. The issue people are worried about is that when you do a factory reset on a Touch(and maybe Radio) they will ask you to login/create a mysqueezebox.com user in the beginning, but it's possible to skip this dialog so it's not a big issue IMHO. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96208 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Neither Touch nor Duet is likely to be repaired or replaced if they break a year in the future, because by then there will be no replacements remaining and it will likely cost more to repair it than just give you the money back. Re: [slim] Forseeing the future of mysb.com, squeezeboxes, etc.
I haven't tried the UE up/downgrade route ... but from what I've read understand the UE Radio route seems a smart move by Logi. It seems they've simplified the user experience, both in terms of getting up and running and use. This just reflects the reality of the general user ecosystem - people just want to buy a box, plug it in and use it - without hours of configuration and geeky tweeking! So far, internet radios are just too geek focussed to become a general consumer item - believe me, some users still think the FM frequency of a station has some role to play. Of course, the enthusiasts are going to see this move as treachery ... but as long as Logi keep mysb.com running, then why complain about a new product line? On the other hand, I do generally belong to the 'If it ain't broke, dont fix it' tendency. However, I'll recommend the UE Radio as a viable option for others wishing to switch from other internet radio services. If it works as well as the current Radio, or maybe better, then it's a runner in my book. castalla's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96379 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Agh! When did this (end of SqueezeBox) start??
Ok, So I haven't been on these forums in ages... I came back and it seems everyone is talking about the start of the end, and it looks like the standard squeezebox devices have disappeared from the logitech website! What is going on! I really like my squeezebox classic and love all the community plugins that have been created for it. Is this really the beginning of the end? When did logitech decide to move away for the squeezebox/touch devices? lambono's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96391 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Agh! When did this (end of SqueezeBox) start??
It was announced 8/29. Or rather, LogitechUE was announced. The only mention of Squeezebox was the statement that the company would still support LMS and mysb.com. They have retained the Radio, although the new software focuses on ease of use vs flexibility/functionality. Yes they've discontinued production of the SB stuff, but let's be honest, that happens to all consumer electronic products at one point or other and is a perfectly normal event in any market. What makes a difference is the way they will support the product after this point. Will there be support for installing LMS on upcoming OS versions (at least the next increment)? Will Logitech keep support for online music services running on MySB (fix stuff when the services change their API). alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96311 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezePlay for Mac OSX
It is based on the 7.8 branch Jul 17, 2012 git check in which I've exported back to subversion as I really dislike git. What a pity (but trust me: git and I aren't friends yet either :-)). Re: [slim] Audible books on squeezebox?
If the audio book is on CD you can just rip it like any other CD and play it back through your Squeezebox player from your Squeezebox server (LMS). If your audio book is already a MP3 you can just put it in your current Squeezebox server folder, scan for new and updated and then play it back through your Squeezebox. It all depends on the original format of your audio book, but there's almost always a way to get it into your Squeezebox system. w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96393 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
