Re: [slim] SB3: randomly jumps to next track (after working fine for years)
Hi I had similar problem a while back, I am running on an old pc pentium D which should in theory work fine, but it just skipped to the next track every now and then, a right pain! It seemed that it had trouble part way through tracks, and then skipped, just now and then. I turned it into a dedicated music server, stripping out all unwanted software, services etc. that seemed to improve things a bit. I then took the external usb drive apart and connected it directly via as sata cable to motherboard. This sorted the problem, been running fine for about a year now. Until last week, No not again! so.. I guess it may have clogged it's self up somehow..?? May be worth a try? I don't understand why it should not just work though, a bottle neck turns up that should not be there...?? Re: [slim] [Announce] iPeng 7, the iOS 7 Squeezebox App for iPhone and iPad
I just upgraded from iPeng HD to iPeng 7 on my iPad Air. It looks much cleaner, I never did much care for the look of the HD version, especially the photo's during startup. I am glad they are gone. However even on my iPad AIR the app is not running smoothly. It stutters all over. The HD version (on Ios7) is much smoother and the stutters take away from the otherwise cleaner user experience. It is not only the artwork, as the simple text based lists are not smooth as well. Hopefully you can fix these small issues. Also; I was a bit annoyed to find out about the existence of iPeng 7 because of the update of iPeng HD mentioning it, and then to find out I missed the introduction discount by one or two days. You really should over think these kind of actions and how your customers will perceive it. It is not just about the 3 or so euro's. Re: [slim] Touch replacement
Did as you suggested. Inserted an sd-card and used stock player - pop is still there! I also tried with an Xperia Mini Pro and there's still a pop but a little less harsh - on the other hand it's is - with the Xperia - a popping every second while pausing the player; it's like a rolling sound, a wheel that turns and for every turn there's a pop. But less harsh... What I found out was that if I raised the volume in Orange Squeeze to the maximum, then I can lower the volume on the amp and then gets a less loud pop. So am I right in saying it's only when in the dock you get the pop? Does Squeezeplayer do the same if just connected directly to the the amp, how about if you use the input on the amp you used for a direct connection with the dock. Again apologies if I'm misunderstanding what happens but it sounds like either the dock or the amp input is the common factor so far. It could be a faulty dock I guess. pipo1000 wrote: It is not only the artwork, as the simple text based lists are not smooth as well. Hopefully you can fix these small issues. Well, see above. It's hard. The text lists are something I can fix if I do away with the semi-transparent section headers (or you can do away with it by turning on Settings-General-Accessibility-Increase contrast which doesn't increase contrast at all, quite to the contrary, but turns off system blur). I'll probably do that in the next version. Well, one of the ideas behind _these_ kind of promotions is that I want people to follow iPeng. Either be regularly coming to this forum (where you could have learned about iPeng 7 even a week before the promotion even started) or by following the facebook page. The reason I want this is that this helps me as well. One problem with Apps is that you have not regular way to contact your users. Even the popup you saw in the App now can theoretically only show up a month from now or so for the first time. The App store gives you no way short of push notifications to contact customers. And that's a problem not only for new App announcements but even more so in case of issues like incompatibilities with upgrades of any kind and the like. So I really want to motivate people to stay in contact, that's the main reason for the initial promotion, I don't otherwise like promotions at all because, as you say, they will always make some people feel bad. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 7, the Universal App for iOS 7* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100515 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [Announce] iPeng 7, the iOS 7 Squeezebox App for iPhone and iPad
Thanks for the revised app. I have been using Squeezebox Server 7.5.4 for a very long time and have been reluctant to add any plugins or upgrade because past attempts messed up a very reliable setup. I am ready to tinker around again. What would be the best server version to install and which plugins significantly improve the iPeng experience? The same files and playlists are also utilized by Subsonic to stream outside the local network. My FLAC's are tagged with multiple values in Artist, Composer, Genre, mood occasion fields. The rating field is used along with a custom Album Rating field. Lyrics are slowly building up in the tags via Mediamonkey. Images are only saved as Folder.jpg and not embedded, about 1400 pixel wide, compressed to about 300kb (for PC). At present neither iIPeng nor Subsonic are able to utilize all the tags. My solution for now has been to auto-generate playlists using Mediamonkey. This setup works quite well. It really is a case of fixing something that is not broken. Help me fix it anyway ;-) guptaas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21096 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100515 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm sorry, but I cannot - in any way - reproduce the non-popping. I tried to many different ways, I believe, and I know suspect that I did something wrong when managing to get it connected and not pop. But, with the volume on maximum and a lower amp-volume it might not be that huge a problem. I'll have to get back if I somehow get a non-popping connection ;) ButC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57330 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100475 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

One other consideration is whether you can move the router. We had low signal on our duet receiver and moved our (dsl) router to the kitchen. Only about 12 feet, but it also removed two walls from the signal path. Since then we've had no signal problems with the duet or our other Squeezebox players. kc5f's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19652 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100575 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Would like to sync music from Itunes library up to squeezebox server.
If I understand your question correctly, you can have LMS read your iTunes library by using the iTunes integration plugin that comes with LMS. Look for it on the Plugins tab in the Settings page of the LMS web interface. Alternatively, you could simply point LMS to the folder on your computer where your iTunes tracks are stored. Often that is less problematic than using iTunes integration. As far as I know the only thing that iTunes integration gives you is access to your iTunes playlists, including smart playlists. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100591 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 released
Hi, I've recently upgraded from 7.7.2 to 7.7.3 (on the readynas and the duet). I use 2 squeezebox receivers. The receiver connected on ethernet continue to work. The receiver connected via wifi has not light anymore. Never see this behaviour before. I tried several times to unplug the power and connect again, i saw blinking red light, then white then green and then nothing again... I also tried quickly push the button to reboot but same result. Then i tried the last thing i were thinking off : the reset by pushing a long time the button. Now i have the button with red blinking slowly all the time. While i prefer that to the strange behaviour with no light at all, i don't know how to tell the receiver to connect my readynas and retrieve the values specified in myqueezebox account (or register to it), an idea ? Re: [slim] [Announce] iPeng 7, the iOS 7 Squeezebox App for iPhone and iPad
H, actually I don't know exactly how CustomBrowse handles artwork. I do use a number of album-based CustomBrowse menus and they worked fine for me and I briefly tested Artists and that's OK for me, too. But what I don't know is how the artwork is actually represented in the artists menus in CB (I know it for albums). If this is just a URL like /12345.jpg and that is ambiguous it might cause problems. Another issue could be if CB doesn't learn about cache purging or things like that. Erland will probably have to step in here. But I don't think it's a general problem. I just tested artists with CB and I don't see any wrong images here so I really believe it's rather a caching thing. There's one thing I might look into... iPeng doesn't purge all caches when you flush the cache, only the server specific ones. This is because internet-URL usually stay the same so it only deletes URL based items on a recurring bassi to free up space. If the URL representation of artist artwork in CB is not server-specific yet changes frequently then this could be a problem. Actually if Last.fm changes and reuses artist image URLs frequently this could also become an issue with iPeng and LMS 7.7. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 7, the Universal App for iOS 7* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100515 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

pippin wrote: H, actually I don't know exactly how CustomBrowse handles artwork. Hi Pippin, Almost all artists show correctly (I've only noticed Hendrix being wrong), so I guess it's not surprising that you didn't run into it. As you suspected, Flushing the cache does not have any effect. Is there any way for me to completely flush the cache to check if it is a stale image? Better yet, is there any way for me to see what URL iPeng thinks it is using? (The correct image is indeed from Last.FM) Thanks, Mike mps's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36351 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100515 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

jimzak wrote: I wonder if backing up 7 TB of files is even feasible? Seeing that even over USB 2, a 2TB drive takes 12-24 hours, I doubt it. Backup to the cloud? Not likely. But backup to disk, why not? It's not like you're breaking rocks while that backup is happening. You're off doing something else. The data is (or should be) nearly static, so the initial full backup might take 24 hours, but subsequent backups will only be backing up a few gigabytes and take minutes. The majority of the time taken isn't even going to be in transferring files across the USB/eSATA/ethernet interface ... it's going to be spent comparing the hundreds of thousands of files' timestamps and sizes. Re: [slim] help me uninstall softsqueeze and replace with squeezelite
To uninstall Softsqueeze - delete the softsqueeze jar file unless you are using a AWS but I think that is unlikely since Java is not working for you. I think EXEC4_java_home is an environment variable which is specific to your system and it should be setup as part of the JRE installation so I think you have a faulty JRE installation. What system are you using ? Have you run Softsqueeze before ? Softsqueeze may not be the best choice (not been updated for a while) but it depends on your system. Squeezelite is headless - did you want a headless player ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100603 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] help me uninstall softsqueeze and replace with squeezelite
Thanks BPA I have LMS 3.7.7 installed on a win7 desktop PC. The music files are stored on an USB external HDD. Softsqueeze is installed on this PC because i used to stream to an SB Touch which is no longer in the system. I have recently purchased a NAD D 7050 digital amp/streamer, which is in a different room than the PC. I want to control the music library from my iPad, and am considering iPeng 7 or squeezepad for this. I want to stream my wav files from the Win7 PC to my iPad and, in turn, stream the wav files to the NAD D 7050 via airplay. The NAD is an airplay receiver. So I thought I would remove softsqueeze and install squeezelite. Does this make sense, or is there a better way to accomplish this? RioTubes wrote: Does this make sense, or is there a better way to accomplish this? Thank you Seems like a very complicated solution. Would DLNA from PC to NAD with DLNA control point on Ipad not be simpler ? Squeezelite has better support of different audio interface which might be useful to physically connect NAD to PC. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100603 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] help me uninstall softsqueeze and replace with squeezelite
Do you have any suggestions on a good UPNP/DLNA control app (iPad) and DLNA server? I have never used either. One hesitation I have is that most of these DLNA servers are subscription based. Experience here? Here's the (somewhat surprising) summary of where I'm seeing the problem. Works: iPeng (iPhone), Squeezeplay (PC), Web Interface Doesn't work: iPeng 7 (both iPhone and iPad), iPeng HD (iPad) In all of the Doesn't work cases, it shows the same incorrect Jimi Hendrix artist image. Net::UDAP is a utility created by Robin Bowes. It is a command line thing that allows you to set up a receiver without having a controller. Here's a link to Robin's project; http://projects.robinbowes.com/Net-UDAP/trac You can also do a google search and you should find more examples of its use in these forums. 2 Duets - 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs Rock Solid with LMS 7.7.4 and WHS 2011 w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
