The server is running Daphile and so ssh and the terminal is hidden away. Grr. I think it needs a reinstall to the beta version to get ssh etc. (7.9.2 - git776eb7c @ Daphile 19.01-x86_64) I've realised I can move the AP a lot closer and tomorrow I'll see what wifi analyser says about the signal strength where the Touch is. To get an idea whether it is a network interface issue - use netstat and see you have any errors (e.g. timeout, reset, retransmission) on what should be a good connection bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110777 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks for the replies It was "Proxied Streaming" I meant to say (sorry was in a rush) I just discovered that I thought I had set it on all the Touches but the one in my daughter's room was not set. Hopefully this will make a big difference. Her player is in the bedroom straight above a pretty good AP with just a wood ceiling. Thanks for the diagnosis that the error is an outbound one, that must be my ISP (the server is CAT6 to the router and then it's Virgin fibre) Clearly i haven't solved it, two of these today [19-07-22 18:18:51.7565] Slim::Player::Song::open (474) Warning: stream failed to open [wimp://88028453.flac]. All true but I submit it might depend on why you went to Tesco. You might have gone in your Ferrari - which model have you got by the way - in order to impress someone and not just for shopping. All of the good things you mention about why the Pi4 is better than the Pi3 are perfectly valid when considered in an appropriate context. I applaud the fact they've decoupled the LAN from USB, and that it now has USB3. (FWIW, I still think an onboard SATA controller would be the icing on the cake, but we're still waiting for that). But none of the Pi3's limitations you mention are significant in the context of an LMS server. My LMS running on a Pi3 with library on an SSD attached via USB2 has never, not once, ever, given me any trouble. It supports 5 players no problem. You don't need gigabit ethernet and/or USB3 speeds to stream the mickey-mouse data rates consumed by audio. Using a more capable device when it's not justified, and suffering other issues as a result, would be considered pretty daft in most walks of life.
