It's looking for those dependicies in the .dmg. and I was pretty sure it would not work . This is not the normal way to install apps on a Mac. Re: [slim] (Vaguely) Audiophile alternative to Transporter and SB+?
Personally I stockpiled SBTs on ebay so have a never ending supply of touchscreen bit-perfect digital sources to feed to whatever DAC takes my fancy. :) Right now it's a Mytek DSD192 (also scalped used from Ebay for a sensible price). Prior to that it was a Naim Supernait built-in DAC. I would agree that earlier Naim gear had a very different sound from most "hifi". I heard it described once as the "big mono" sound, it really drives the bass and produces a lively immediate sound, without emphasising the "detail" that actually -is- in there, you just have to stop dancing long enough to listen for it. Later Naim gear is moving more mainstream sounding in fact (which is why they're now winning awards..). On the "bit perfect" story above. Weirdly I discovered that the SBT won't output 66khz sampled audio. Crashes every time. No idea where that track came from, but there you are; I have to resample it to play it. Other than that I have no reason to believe that any digital source is any better than this. Even a Chromecast Audio - which has a dreadful analogue output, makes a perfectly fine digital source. -- Hardware: 3x Touch, 1x Radio, 2x Receivers, 1 HP Microserver NAS with Debian+LMS 7.9.0 Music: ~1300 CDs, as 450 GB of 16/44k FLACs. Hello again - just jumping back into this thread. I've personally not seen the volume drop to zero during playback. I believe it's predominantly when turning the player (SB Touch as part of a sync group) back on, but I can't say for certain that the player was always off, sometimes I'm lazy and leave it on pause. All I can say is that when I come back to the player and press play (via the LMS app) I notice the volume is zero. I was going to say I don't have ipeng but I realized I actually did on a very ancient ipad. The app is never used, but the ipad was on. I just uninstalled ipeng just to see if that does anything. Hello stranger! The SB ecosystem is much more flexible now than it used to be - it plays to DLNA devices and more via plugins that are very reliable, so there's every chance that you can splurge money on a Naim streamer and it will work well with SB Server. It's way more reliable than it was when I had the Linn Akurate DS. Apart from that it's a suitable player like a Pi plugged into an async USB DAC. The DAC I would like to try would be the Okto DAC - Audio Science Review is a good source of testing (measuring) for DACs, and that one is as good as anything for a sensible price (about a grand). It also has a Pi built in for the streaming facility. I'm not certain that iPeng is implicated - that's just my inexperienced interpretation of the log file. slartibartfast wrote: > I see volumes suddenly falling to zero and I don't use iPeng. > I've seen two types of behaviour that I assumed were related, but maybe they're not after all. The first was the volume on one player being set to zero at start up, and the other is volume reductions during playback. My logfile above is for the latter case. Have you seen player volume dropping to zero during playback, or was it already at zero when you started playback (making it the former case)? chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114230 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
