To anyone watching my issue. Well, same freeze after the message Spotty.exe has stopped working So, I uninstalled the most current version of LMS and went back to V7.7.6. I appreciate all the help here. Right now, after some reinstalling the spotty plugin and re adding settings information , LMS has been stable for about 6 hours ( no spotty.exe has stopped working, no freezes preventing LMS functioning ). Album art and list of previously saved albums are gone ( maybe will return after scan). Playlists in LMS now work! And Im thankful. Thanks for everyone who spent time on this for me. Please tell me what is the MS VC 2015 runtime (32 bit!)? I cannot find it in the list of plugins. I never knowingly installed it. Is it the helper? If it is not the helper, where do I get it. Okuninstall and install brought me somewhat back but I continued to get that spotty.exe stopped working and the freeze. So, I uninstalled the spotty plugin and that prevented the error message and freeze. But, now of course I cannot get Spotify on the Squeezeboxes and I cant find the spotty plugin to try to reinstall it. Is the plugin listed under another name? What I was asking is if there is a special app or a special web page to enter the call letters of a specific radio station and finding its URL? I just feel like saying that I think our Squeezeboxes are THE BEST! Theres no other ecosystem that compares with ours. The sound quality is so awesome (like having the orchestra right in my room)! The functionality(when learned) is so versatile and convenient. Controlling the functionality via Ipeng makes it more convenient than any other system available (Thanks Pippin) and keeping our system updated still works (Thanks Michael!!! And others) in spite of Logitechs unfortunate abandonment. Great apps, still supported. After all these years of being a SB ecosystem supporter, I am still so passionate and thankful for what we have! I would love to hear from others and how they are enjoying their Squeezeboxes and what they think. Like to hear from some of of our long-time posters. I just had an idea that might bring SB owners back into the market place. I haven't read all the posts on this thread so someone may have alluded to something like this. But, what if SONOS made their devices compatible with the Squeezeboxes. I would be very inclined to buy SONOS products to add to my SB ecosystem. It might be a profitable venture for SONOS. Slacker is nonfunctional on my SBs today. I hope that's not permanent. I have a pair premium subscription. I like Slacker over other programs (Pandora) because you can stack different genres and automatically scroll through many different types of music( classical, country,pop,etc.). Sad that Slacker may be gone from SBs. While many of you are using 7.9 LMS, I am still using the recommended 7.7.5. I know I am behind times, but I am listing flawlessly. Are there any downsides to me using this msb.com's recommended software? Why would I update and chance having issues? Thank you and I LOVE the SB ecosystem just as much and even more than ever. [slim] Way to get SiriusXM into my system
I really miss Sirius thru my stereo system. I don't think it's coming back thru the SB system. I figured a way to get SiriusXM back into my system. It's not through the SBes unfortunately. Please tell me if I'm wrong here. Grace Products offers a tuner/receiver for ~249 that I could put into my DAC/ preamp to the stereo system and to my wired speakers. True, I could not sync with my SBs but I could enjoy Sirius stations on my stereo system! I could have the options of Grace/Sirius or SBs/ internet radios( no Sirius). I think this would get Sirius back into my house. Thanks. There's hope. I enjoy listening to Sirius stations in my car with an adapter, but my major usage was in my home. Now that the SB system will no longer stream Sirius I intend to cancel my yearly subscription which renews in November. I cancel reluctantly because like I said I do listen in the car occasionally. It's not worth it to me to pay the subscription fee and not have home access. I love the Sirius Sinatra station especially the First Friday With Francis Albert 24 hour program. I can't drive my car for 24 hours just to hear Frank all day (although I've been tempted ). Question: Is anyone working on resolving this Sirius issue? Is there any hope that it may be resolved and ,perhaps, I should hold on to my subscription? Any progress updates? Thank you very much. Of course I support streaming SiriusXM through ickStream. Only one qualification for me and that being the future ability to stream the PREMIUM version of SiriusXM. For me personally, it is difficult to listen to music/streams with frequent interruptions and commercials. Same goes for the CalmRadio stream. But I am all for ickStream and its potential. Thank you. Michael, this is very disappointing. I think I listen to SiriusXM predominantly at homeSinatra, Willie,CNN,HLN, Symphony Hall , Etc. Is there any chance at all that this could be changed? Thanks for pursuing this, Ciarmer. Those are encouraging words. SiriusXM is an important part of my listening entertainment and ,like you and many others, I'd be disappointed if it were discontinued on the SB ecosystem. I'm also very pleasantly surprised that LOGITECH will actually support action to fix this for its customers. Yes, this info in this letter which I received also, is unfortunate. The convenience of listening to Sirius Radio stations over my stereo SB ecosystem is definitely going to sufferunless LOGITECH can accommodate this Sirius compatibility issue. I'm listening to Sinatra as I work at the computer. Very convenient. Yes, the line in work around will certainly be a very far second choice to what we have now. I really think I'd have to cancel my Sirius Subscription...which I would miss greatly. Michael or a 3rd party innovator have many come through as we meet these obstacles. I still think that LOGITECH made a big mistake by throwing the Squeezeboxes under the bus. It's the BEST! could they possibly pick it up again... Wishfull thinking but it won't happen. Wouldn't it be nice if we could convince Logitech to begin production of the Squeezebox Line again. I believe they'd really be able to market them to bring in a very big profit. Yes, I get the same 500 SSL negotiation failed message. I cannot get to all my saved albums. I did an uninstall /install procedure with my Rhapsody account at mysqueezebox.com to no avail. Also, I cannot save new albums to to my music library at Rhapsody. Is this a temporary issue with the Rhapsody App? I had many albums saved. Can they be retrieved ? Thank you. I have been using the SB ecosystem for many many years and I am just as excited about it as ever! The world is my oyster with all the beautiful sounds and entertainment I enjoy. It is great. [slim] Question about signal strength
What would be the minimal signal strength to provide a stable stream? Is there any way to boost signal strength? I have an SB Boom powering a subwoofer and when it is synced to my main Touch Stereo system I tend to get cut outs. The signal strength for the Boom is between 38 and 43. Is there anything, other than moving the Boom, that I can do to increase the strength? Thank you. IMHO, there can be nothing to compare to the Squeezebox system. The sound quality, the diverse functionality, the community, the aesthetics of the devices, the third party capabilitiesand so much more. I think it's very unfortunate that LOGITECH has chosen to not continue the Squeezebox line. I'm glad they have continued to support mysqueezebox.com . The lower bitrate may be lower fidelity, but if the high bitrate is regularly cutting out then the low bitrate may be more tolerable in the long run. Yes, the WGUC station is a high (192) bitrate and this is the reason I like it a lot. It doesn't seem to have a lower bitrate stream. I'll see what happens with this new router channel. Well, I guess I really did not fix this skipping problem. It seems , as I had stated in the original post, that the station still seems to randomly occasionally skip to the next station in the playlist. It happens only while listening to a certain station(WGUC) which is unique because it dreams at a very fast bitrate when compared to other stations in the playlist. The skipping seems to be more frequent at certain times of day( like 7:00 pm forward). This issue is tolerable,I guess, but I'd really like to fix it. Is there some setting in the LMS settings that might make a more stable situation for this issue? Any suggestions? I'm now running Win7 and LMS v 7.3.*. Thank you. Other than this issue, the SB ecosystem is still very very awesome. I'd be lost without it. The playlist consists of radio stations and music service stations( Sirius,Sky,etc). It's very convenient to be able to change from say classical to Sinatra or whatever. I think I did try listening to the one station (WGUC) singly when not part of the playlist and I do think that it just rebuffers..actually I think I should recheck that to be sure. Thanks. After installing Windows7 and LMS, I am having an issue. Many of my playlists are lists of radio stations (WGUC, for example). While listening to this station I find that the feed becomes interrupted and the next thing I find is that the next station on the playlist is now playing. As background information, I am running LMS 7.3 (but I've tried 7.8 also) and usually synching a SB touch device plus a SB radio device. Signal strengths on the devices are normally about 50% and 60% respectively. Thanks for any advice to correct this. I haven't posted because I was busy picking up my computers and trying to set them up again. Thank you all for your responses, information and advice. The dedicated computer with LMS and Squeezebox files was cleaned and updated to Win7 and I am working to get everything working well. So far very fine. To answer your question, Gary... I am changing to Win7 from WinXPpro because of the announcement that XP would no longer be supported. This announcement disturbed my wife much more than it did me. So now that I have Win7 on the LMS dedicated computer I am liking the new OS. (Although I haven't learned it yet). I am getting some rebuffering issues. My main computer is still XP because it has many files that are very important and I'd have to do a clean install and I'm not sure how I'd reinstall these important files... They are backed up on an external HD. I would like to have this main computer on Win7 but I'm apprehensive about retrieving all of those files. Anyhow, that's where I am. yes, they are picture, Quicken, workout logs,emails, etc. I do have the original Quicken disc, but not sure I have the photo startup discs etc. The photos concern me the most. I wouldn't want to lose them. My workout logs are important to me, too. I recently did a complete backup thru the XP system tools...so the external drive shows a disc and settings backup, but I do not know what to do with that fileit's not a file that actually opens to my knowledge. Well, I have now been informed that I cannot upgrade from Windows XPpro to Win7 and still keep all of my existing programs. I'm not sure I understood the process but it seemed very complicated. The problem seems to be that I did not go to Win VISTA. Can anyone give me a different explanation for why you can't go from XPpro to 7? Thank you. From what I remember about Spotify, it will not synch with SBBoom in the mix...but I'm not sure about this. Plus don't you have to have a special plug in for Spotify to be fully functional...
