Not commenting on the performanace of SC as opposed to any other software, but as someone who fondly remembers the days of Spectrums, TRS80s and the BBC Micro (still in my attic!), I can't help but recall some of the quite amazing games (eg Elite), spreadsheets, databases etc that packed a huge amount into 16 or 32k of ram. I tend to agree with previous posters that using 100mb (over 3,000 times more than 32k) of memory does seem excessive. It's not exclusively an SC issue, but programming efficiency generally seems to have been abandoned as availability of RAM has increased. -- Khuli http://www.last.fm/user/khuli Khuli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=851 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50698 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Live365 presets not updating
I updated to SC, which looks great - and so far works great! However, I still have just the one preset on Live365 so that's no better. I assume these are supposed to be the presets that are set up on the Live365 website, and not related to favourites set up on SN? -- Khuli http://www.last.fm/user/khuli Khuli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=851 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43043 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Australians being screwed on price??
radish;266185 Wrote: In my experience going directly to the manufacturer is almost never the cheapest way to buy something - SD has historically been unusual and it's largely been because they were the main distribution point. Indeed. The manufacturer won't sell for less than the recommended retail price, precisely because it cannot undercut its distributors (or it soon won't have any). However, there is nothing to stop a distributor accepting a smaller margin on a sale by selling below the RRP. Note that this means that if the manufacturer and the distributor sell for the same price, the manufacturer will make a bigger profit if you buy from them rather than from the distributor... -- Khuli http://www.last.fm/user/khuli Khuli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=851 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43128 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Live365 presets not updating
I have a bunch of presets set up on the Live365 website, but these are not feeding through to the presets listed in SlimServer (which only has one showing). Is this supposed to update from the Live365 site, or does it have to be done manually somehow? I'm on v6.5.4 Thanks. -- Khuli http://www.last.fm/user/khuli Khuli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=851 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43043 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
