FooSQ is now fully configurable with a text .ini file, the parameters are here: [parameters] SqueezeBoxServerIP=127.0.0.1 Note that this is the IP address for the SqueezeBox Server, NOT the IP address of the player. Please note you WILL need to change SqueezeBoxPlayerID to the MAC address of the player you want to stream music to. You can find this in the SqueezeBox web interface under settings player settings, it's at the bottom of the screen. Once you have edited the .ini file, just run FooSQ.exe. Make sure you followed the instructions at www.at-sea.com/FooSQ.html first. If you want to stream to more than one player, just create seperate sub-directories named after each room: Bedroom, Hallway etc., each with a copy of FooSQ.exe and FooSQ.ini, then edit the .ini files in each one to include the MAC address of the respective players. Dear Erland, I have been interested with your classical library features for long. All I actually need is a way to find and sort work items (albums, too but no problem there), I don't need to go further. Integration of online sources and so on is of no interest for me, as my musical interest is for lossless ripped or downloaded classical music only. Re: [slim] S/PDIF inputs : capacitor or transfo coupling ?
I have just finished my SP/DIF cable, with the right connectors : Cinch (sat TV tuner) and BNC (to the floating input of the Transceiver). It works (only) when source clock is on this input. Logical... But when I switch to the Squeezecenter, I hear muffled and bassy sounds. I have tried sync and async options in the menu, but it does not change anything : in other words, when I want to switch between the BNC input and the SQcenter, the only way that I've found is to change the clock input via the settings of the SQcenter. Unless I am wrong with the setup, would not it be more convenient to choose the clock source for each input ? -- fakarava2 To nobody, except those who will take pleasure here (Franz Schubert, 01/31/1797 - 11/19/1828) fakarava2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16310 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61198 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] S/PDIF inputs : capacitor or transfo coupling ?
Sean, Thank you very much for your answer. I did not expect an answer from the father of the Transporter ! In my setup, it is not a real problem of ground loop : in fact, my cathodic TV has a big default current (maybe from the high voltage transformer) and it is not grounded : I have measured 70V between chassis and ground. When I used an analog audio cable, the leak was returning to ground via my amplifier and has burnt some lo-value resistors (between chassis and mains grounds). I know : I only need to get my TV set repaired ;-) -- fakarava2 To nobody, except those who will take pleasure here (Franz Schubert, 01/31/1797 - 11/19/1828) fakarava2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16310 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61198 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] S/PDIF inputs : capacitor or transfo coupling ?
My satellite receiver has a S/PDIF RCA connector. No optical connector, alas, you'll see why : It is SCART connected with my TV set, which has some ground leaks (up to 70 V!). I have had some problems with the analog link to my amplifier... - Is the transformer-coupled S/PDIF input of the Transporter floating enough ? - Do i need some sort of insulation transformer ? - In that case, what stuff ? (impusion xformer ?) - More generally, are there some audible difference between the BNC and the RCA inputs, or is it simply a convenient way to switch between different inputs ? -- fakarava2 To nobody, except those who will take pleasure here (Franz Schubert, 01/31/1797 - 11/19/1828) fakarava2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16310 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61198 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Will my setup reflect the quality of a transporter?
- First, you can already make the test: compare the SB versus the rx-v2700 internal DAC. Notice that you may have to put some attenuation (via the squeezecenter menu) otherwise you might find a lot of distortion and conclude that SB is junk (I've marked 6, which stands for -6dB). - You could also try it with an external DAC that you borrow somewhere. - Transporter is a very fine machine and works well with hi-end systems. I am not sure it would do something better for your actual setup. (I have both, SB3 in the kitchen, and TP on the main system). Listen and make your opinion, as always. -- fakarava2 To nobody, except those who will take pleasure here (Franz Schubert, 01/31/1797 - 11/19/1828) fakarava2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16310 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50394 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Eventually I tried connecting by ethernet it was fine -did a network test rock solid 100% on every level. Disconnected from ethernet re-connected via wireless hey presto fully functioning again -100% at 5000kbps. So somehow this cleared the block straightened out the hang-up wherever it was. Hope this helps someone out there to track down whats happening. Before I did this it was totally non-functioning -the buffer just never filled or filled so slowly that it would play a fraction of a second then pause. Edit: Every time I try synchronising players the same thing happens. One of the players becomes unusable with nothing appearing to clear the error. Very interesting, indeed !
