Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic (3) schematic

I had a Slim Devices unit that lost one analog out channel but the
optical out worked fine..

Did not attempt the repair - poor solder skills - used a little optical
to rca converter until I replaced with a Touch.

As you've read this is known fault.

Good luck!

RIP - Peter Green who along with the band Fleetwood Mac helped school us
all about the Blues. He like his former band boss John Mayall were part

for us white kids to enjoy - sad but true. For me the early Fleetwood

music comes from...they were truly a life changer for my musical

I just connected to two different LMS entities running unprotected -
took me 5 minutes to find over a 100 of them.

One click on the IP and I was looking at their LMS Web-UI - with what I
assume is complete control - have not tried to mess with them.

It is very easy to find them and play havoc if one is so inclined...

Not able to answer your question BUT I had the same ailment on my V3
Classic and ended up selling it to someone that only needed the optical
out and then used those funds to help me buy a Touch. I did not trust
my soldering skills either - shame though - I did love the "Slim

Yep - started patched file in the original folder - "includes" folder

I answer YES to continue running scripts. The ACC UI comes up but if I
use it I get this over and over again:

If I just click "Create Catalogs" I get what I think I remember from
wayback as an ACC error: "Error Connecting to Squeezebox Server

I did change the location of the "library.db" to it's proper location.
Am I missing some sort of link/path to the sqlite package that I
installed in "Step 1"?

Thanks alot for your work...

First of all thanks to the original coder FRANK - I really liked ACC.
Now thanks to Reinholdk for the mod attempt.

*Update to "STEP 2"* - Apparently the patch utility has been repackaged
- download "Complete package, except sources" and install:
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/patch.htm

Then the patch ("Step 5") seems to work OK - no error.

But when I start the "patched" ACC I start getting "script" errors - I'm
out of my league here - anyone else gotten this far?

fine having never used the emitter with them.

I ordered new caps, but have not yet replaced them as I'm concerned they
will just fail again if I continue to use the IR emitter.

Can anyone corroborate or refute my suspicions?

My SlimDevices SB3 has never had anything attached to it except RCA
cable on the analog outs. Yet it has the left channel failure.

So I think your IR emitter theory is not a reality

Any chance you might detail your repair (photos/words/diagrams) for the
rest of us?

Thanks
Jim

You are not alone! I also have a Slim Devices SB3 that has a diminished

Re: [slim] Amazon Prime Music!

A couple of quotes from news articles concerning Amazon Prime Music:

Play Music streams at a variable bitrate by default, but discerning
ears can opt to listen only at its high quality setting of 256kbps.
- The Verge

For streaming, sound quality will be adjusted for available
connectivity, which will range from a high bit rate of 256k to a low of
48k - BillboardBiz

I didn't think anyone did 48K anymore...YIKES! I guess that's for those

Re: [slim] LMS Extractor Is Now Available

2014-05-26 Thread usbethjim

I've installed and tried your extractor - simple and speedy.

I know nothing about SQL so I used your built-in queries.

However to be of use to me, I would have to either have you change a
couple of basic things in the queries, have you tell me how to do it
myself or I need to learn SQL.

_Here's_the_thing_-_Every_album_I_have_has_an_\ARTIST_SORT\_tag:_

Bob Dylan's is Dylan, Bob - he show's up in the D's not the B's as
Bob Dylan in LMS listings.

Led Zeppelin's is Led Zeppelin - they show up in the L's as Led
Zeppelin in LMS listings.

So any SQL query would have to use the same logic.

Is this a simple thing to do?

I understand I don't have time to deal with that right now
completely!

Thanks for putting this out there.

issue yet. For example when I run ACC I get the following stats:
Total number of Tracks : 5952
Total number of Albums : 413

 Catalog creation time : 00:29

Translated to your album collection size it should only take a few
minutes. What part of ACC processing seems to take the longest time?

I'll come back on your album art size question sometime later (i'm at
 work now)

I have looked at the log and at the beginning of the processing ACC
seems to be doing about 40 entries a second. However by the end of the
run it takes two or three seconds to process each entry.

ACC is progressively slowing down - I do not have the skills/knowledge
to troubleshoot this. Maybe it has to do with the NAS? Anyway with the
7.6 changes coming you've got enough to do. I'm just happy to be able
to generate the quickref ONLY.

Thanks

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2011-04-01 Thread usbethjim

dasmueller FYI

It took 51 minutes for the ACC 3.4 to complete (NOT including
generating the FULL Catalog). I'm using Windows XP - Pentium 4 2.8ghz
- 1GB ram.
The PC is wired to a router which is wired to a NAS that runs
SqueezeServer and holds all the files.

Total Tracks: 36,496
Total Albums: 2,634
Total Artists: 1,119

All tracks are FLAC. Not sure of all this but I think my big problem
is when ACC finishes and then tries to generate the Full Catalog. At
this point my PC just grinds and grinds - I assume trying to get all
the cover art into the Full Catalog as the Quick Ref is already done
and displayed in another browser window. That's a lot of artI'm
not listing any tracks and not choosing large art option.

SilverRS8;622556 Wrote:
I will post a minor update with an option to select which catalogs
should be created. I hope this will be on sunday as today my server
crashed and I hope the new hardware is delivered tomorrow.

Regarding the slow processing; This strongly depends of the performance
of the MySQL server. If this is on a low powered NAS it may take a
longer time as ACC creates a temporary table to process all data. After
this the catalogs are generated. This part should go fast. Next the
catalogs are opened and the webbrowser will retrieve all cover art that
is linked from the catalog. The art is retrieved from the NAS which
 again may determine the performance.

Thanks for adding the option - I thought I was missing it.

I'm a bit dull as to who does what to whom when. The NAS is pretty
well powered - Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz. The load on the
PC seems to come after I get the ACC completion message. So the slow
down must be in the retrieval of the art from the NAS.

Should I be picking another art option in ACC? Where does the art
reside after the full catalog is built? PC (in the generated hmtl
file) or still on the NAS?

Both units are hard wired to a 10/100 gb router.

Thanks for your help - a little paypal on the way

[slim] Received Logitech survey request

2010-05-01 Thread usbethjim

I received an email invitation to complete a Logitech survey concerning
my Squeezebox Classic. Just want to let y'all know that I said the
hardware was great but that maybe more resources(time money)should be
dedicated to perfecting/updating/clearing all bugs in the free
software that makes it all run. I suggested that maybe punching out
hardware was moving a little faster than punching out the corresponding
software. Then I did the survey again for every Squeeze device I own,
paying special attention to the initial (permanent? OK, talk amongst
yourselves...) problems of the Duet being pushed out the door
?prematurely? with the customer base providing the beta test bed for
the hardware/software.

Does that sum up what I've read on these forums? I myself had initial
issues with the Duet but now it seems to work nicely. Be on the look
out for this survey

Re: [slim] Slimserver 6.5.3 6.5.4 for Infrant NAS NV+

I second that emotion - could/would someone please help us ReadyNAS
users out?

Infrant/Netgear remains silent on this issue. No response from them on
any of my inquiries on their forum.

Will Slim Devices/Logitech fess up on this?

Is the ReadyNas support OVER?

When 6.5.3 was announced at least ya'll mentioned Infrant in the text.
Now this 6.5.4 announcement does not mention them at all.
The download button for ReadyNas has disappeared from your download
page. PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE address the issue of the future
relationship between Slimserver and ReadyNAS.

The reason I bought this streaming solution was the SB3 coupled with
the ReadyNAS. Although others bemoan the performance of Slimserver on
the ReadyNAS - it works great for me. I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO RUN
ANOTHER PC JUST FOR THE TUNES.

Are there copyright issues that prevent Slim Devices from generating
their own version of Slimserver for the ReadyNAS?

Can anyone help me on this - how difficult is it to generate the
Infrant/ReadyNAS version of Slimserver?

Thank you
