Re: [slim] CUE files not being picked up stored in playlists

2009-02-23 Thread Moonbase

Interesting, thanks for the feedback.

ItÂ’s actually looking for line starting with any whitespace
characters and seems to use this as a differentiation between the
global settings (TITLE, PERFORMER, FILE, REM xxx) and the
track-based settings.

Many other programs actually use the same logic.

To clarify, does it mean that I can have a single FLAC file with a cue
sheet, and SqueezeCenter will be able to pick up the tracks without me
having to break the FLAC into multiple files?

Re: [slim] CUE files not being picked up stored in playlists

2009-02-22 Thread RichardP

OK for anyone that's interested, I found an answer.

It seems that SlimServer is being really fussy about indentation
formatting of the CUE files I've been receiving.

I found that if I have a CUE file that looks basically like this:
start of file
PERFORMER Mike Wotsisface
TITLE Best of Wotsisface
FILE Mike Wotsisface - Best of Wotsisface.mp3 MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE I write the songs
PERFORMER Mike Wotsisface
INDEX 01 00:00:00
end of file

... then it is ignored.

However if the same file is modified to be indented as follows:

start of file
PERFORMER Mike Wotsisface
TITLE Best of Wotsisface
FILE Mike Wotsisface - Best of Wotsisface.mp3 MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE I Write The Songs
PERFORMER Mike Wotsisface
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE When Will I Be Fay Moose
PERFORMER Mike Wotsisface
INDEX 01 03:27:00
end of file

... then that is treated as a playlist/album. Result!

Maybe there's more to this than meets the eye, but can't see why the
CUE file processing would be so fussy about this...?

This is actually how I'm working around the problem currently, thanks
anyway (sincerely appreciate your explanations). Unfortunately this
method is painful for 2 reasons - one because the files have long names
that are often awkward to differentiate, and secondly because it's not
instantly apparent which file is the CUE and which is the MP3 (the
provided filenames bodies are identical) - so it's necessary to examine
the characteristics of each file to determine which is the CUE and which
is the MP3.

However I'm convinced there's got to be a simpler way than this. A year
ago when battling with this (on a previous server installation) I read
somewhere that physically putting the CUE files themselves in the
'Playlists Folder' was an option, the downside being that each CUE file
needed editing by amending the path to the audio file, since the CUE was
now split up from its MP3 file pairing, ie. in a different folder
location (and volume). I may be mistaken but... subsequent to me
experimenting with that workaround, I noticed that, bizarrely, new
additions were appearing in Playlists without me doing this CUE jiggery
for those new files, but this was happening inconsistently!

[slim] CUE files not being picked up stored in playlists

2008-10-01 Thread RichardP

Hi,

Sorry in advance if this is a well worn enquiry but I've searched
exhaustively before posting.

I have a few folders within the library containing long mp3 files
together with their associated separate CUE file (paired in the same
folder). The CUE files aren't being picked up at all during a scan.
Just tried a 'Rescan playlists' with no success.

How can I get the scanner to 'see' my CUE files and offer them as
playlists?

Ta in advance,
Richard

Do the files get scanned and then look like albums and tracks in the
library? If you browse albums, for instance.

I don't use CUE sheets like this, but wonder if they're _supposed_ to
be presented as playlists, or whether they're just used to break up the
larger files into tracks.

According to the slimdevices customer help page entitled Using CUE
files with the Transporter and Sqeezebox, the question Does the
Squeezebox or Transporter support CUE files? is answered Yes. CUE
files are interpreted as playlists containing a number of songs
corresponding to the tracks of an album. So from that, I would take it
that I should be seeing scanned CUE files as playlists, but that is not
the case for me.

This could be an issue of interpretation. Once selected, SS/SC do
treat the CUE file as a playlist. However, such files are not
automatically included in your list of playlists. I expect that this is
by design.

To achieve your goal, you would have to add the CUE file to a playlist
(+). In doing so, you will create a playlist with all the individual
tracks of the file. You may then save that and will then find it
available under the playlist item in the various interfaces.

Sorry but how do you mean, Once selected, SS/SC do treat the CUE file
as a playlist - it's the Once selected part in particular I am not
clear about?
Also, when you say you would have to add the CUE file to a playlist,
how would you go about this exactly?

You may select the + button on your remote/controller or the same in
